Widening of Syria War into a Regional War with Global Implications becoming Inevitable.

Christof Lehmann (nsnbc),- The U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has passed legislation that, if signed by U.S. President Obama, approves of officially supplying weapons to what the committee describes as “The Syrian Opposition”.

According to international law the bill implies, that the U.S.A. officially becomes a conflicting party. The official approval of weapons deliveries and other aid to “the opposition” is arguably changing its status to that of a mercenary corps.

The Senate´s decision has significantly increased the likelihood of the development of a regional war with global implications and has, if it is signed  by President Obama, for the foreseeable future undermined attempts to settle the war by political means. 

The bipartisan U.S. Senate´s Foreign Relations Committee voted 15 – 3 in favor of the bill that would allow U.S. politicians to officially arm the terrorist organizations, which the USA has been directly and indirectly financing, arming and otherwise supporting since the genesis of the conflict in 2011.

Already in 2011 a whistleblower at the U.S. Special Forces at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, U.S.A. stated to nsnbc, that the USA has special forces deployed in Syria and the the USA is financing and arming the “Syrian opposition”. 

If signed by President Obama, the U.S.A. would technically become a directly involved party to the war. Arguably, the so-called opposition would receive the legal status of being a US-sponsored mercenary corps. In other words, the legal status would concur with its de facto status.

While some analysts state, that the decision would not imply significant changes on the ground because the USA has sponsored terrorists in Syria since the onset of the crisis, others predict that the new legislation implies a significant increase of arms shipments, a significant increase in recruitment efforts, a substantial increase of funding, and an inevitable widening of the war into Lebanon and Iraq.

The legislation calls to “provide defense articles, defense services, and military training” directly to the “opposition” on the ground in Syria who “have been properly and fully vetted and share common values and interests with the United States”. 

The legislation officially endorses an illegal military strategy on Syria, which a US Training Circular for Special Forces and “Foreign Students” designates as being official US military doctrine. The Training Circular, TC-18-01 explicitly states, that the US military, for the foreseeable future, would primarily be involved in unconventional warfare.

The subversion of foreign nations, as described in the TC-01 is a de-facto outline of the political and military strategy which the USA has used against the Syrian Arab Republic since 2011. The full document has previously been disclosed on nsnbc. 

It is especially the last part of the sentence, “vetted and share common values and interests with the United States”, that would also officially transform the United States into a party that is directly involved in the war by recruiting, financing and arming  mercenaries.

According to reliable Syrian statistics, which repeatedly have been sent to the office of U.N. Secretary Ban Kyi-moon, more than 80 per cent of the persons involved in combat operations against the Syrian military forces and the Syrian Civil Defense Forces are foreign fighters.

As documented in a previous article, much of the recruitment of these mercenary forces is being organized via Libya, under supervision of the Emir of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Abdelhakim Belhadj.

Since the US-backed coup d´etat in Libya in 2011, Abdelhakim Belhadj, who has a long history of cooperation with the British Foreign Intelligence Service MI6, Mossad and NATO Intelligence, and who according to former Spanish Prime Minister Aznar is the main responsible person for the 2004 Madrid Train Bombings that killed dozens, Abdelhakim Belhadj also functions as official Tripoli Military Governor. The largest so far documented arms shipment, including SAM-7 surface to air missiles was shipped from Libya through Turkey and into Syria. It is safe to conclude that the greatest  part of arms shipments and deployment of recruits from Libya to Syria as well as to Mali is being organized through the Belhadj network.

With the main body of Syria recruits being recruited through a network that is in liaison with NATO, NATO is by implication, also becoming directly involved in the Syria War if the bill is passed. In fact, some international lawyers argue that NATO´s legal status already is that of a party to the conflict due to the fact that Turkey is directly involved.

The legal implications are mind-boggling and bound to significantly worsen the crisis between Russia and the USA, the crisis between Russia and the EU, and the crisis between some EU member states, first and foremost Germany and the USA.

Most experts on US – Israeli foreign relations agree that the Israeli lobby in the USA, which has a significant influence over the majority of members of Congress, has been lobbying strongly in support of the bill. Over the course of the last month reports of direct Israeli involvement in the war have significantly increased.

Already in 2011 Israel was arming the so-called Syrian opposition through third parties in Lebanon. Most prominently among them, the Saudi-Lebanese national and chairman of the “Movement for the Future Party” Saad Hariri, and the leader of the Lebanese Druze community and chairman of the Lebanese Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt. Jumblatt is known for having facilitated shipments of weapons and equipment from Israel´s Raphael Industries since 2011.

One of the few Senators who have voted against the bill was Senator Rand Paul who stated ” You will be funding today the allies of al-Qaeda…. It is an irony you cannot overcome”. Critics of Rand Paul however state that his nay-vote was cheap since it was well known that the majority would vote in favor of the bill. Others criticize Paul for being representative of double standards by not clearly stating that al-Qaeda and “The Opposition” are euphemisms for a network of NATO mercenaries who can be used as friend or foe, terrorist of freedom fighters, all and alone depending on utility.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is currently visiting Jordan to meet representatives from 11 nations. Part of the agenda will be discussions between Kerry and Russian representatives about the so-called U.S.-Russian roadmap to end the Syria crisis.

The chances for ending the war in Syrian by political means however, are becoming increasingly slim. According to some analysts, the crisis is developing a propensity toward a deterioration into a Sarajevo-like situation, where the events begin determining the decisions of the policy makers, rather than the policy makers being the ones who determine the development of the events. The odds are clearly stacked against a political resolution and overwhelmingly for a widening of the war into Lebanon and Iraq.

Russia has repeatedly warned that the material support of the terrorists in Syria violates international law, and Russian officials have warned that the passing of the legislation is one more, and a most serious violation of international law.

The Russian position always was and remains the position, that only direct talks between the Syrian government and the opposition can solve the crisis and that the arming of terrorists sabotages ongoing attempts to solve the crisis and the ongoing political reform process in Syria.

In March, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated, that “International law does not permit the supply of arms to non-governmental actors and our point of view is that it is a violation of international law” .

By default, the upcoming Xbox One from Microsoft will feature an always-on microphone and camera that works in the dark, both of which are constantly connected to the internet and can’t be turned off.

The creepiness is only compounded when one realizes that Microsoft helps develop massive surveillance systems like the Domain Awareness System used in New York City. Microsoft has also been questioned about the privacy and security of Skype and criticized for censoring Windows Live Messenger chats.

Putting a product like this by Microsoft – a company that backed privacy-crushing legislation in the past – is only asking for trouble.

The new Kinect 2.0 will be bundled with every Xbox One and according to Extreme Tech, the Xbox One will not work if the Kinect isn’t plugged in.

That might sound quite nonsensical, but it was confirmed by Xbox’s UK marketing director.

“Xbox’s UK marketing director Harvey Eagle has said that the console will not function without Kinect connected,” Keza MacDonald wrote for IGN.

“Kinect does require to be connected to Xbox One in all cases, yes,” Harvey Eagle told IGN after a Microsoft-hosted event in London on May 21, 2013.

This was also confirmed by Corporate VP of Microsoft Studios Phil Spencer when he told Joystiq, “Kinect has to be connected to Xbox One.”

It gets even creepier when we learn that the new Kinect is capable of examining your facial features and identifying you, even if you don’t have the controller in hand. Perhaps even worse, it can estimate your heart rate.

“By examining your face’s skin color and transparency, the Kinect and Xbox One are able to estimate your current heart rate,” according to Joystiq.

While some users may think the Kinect will be awesome, others will be troubled by the fact that it remains on even when the Xbox One itself is turned off.

This fact is revealed when one realizes that one of the “great addition[s]” of the new Kinect is that it has “the ability to turn on the console just by saying ‘Xbox On,’” according to iDigital Times.

Obviously the device must remain on even when the Xbox itself is off in order for this feature to work.

Furthermore, the 1080p HD camera on the Kinect uses active infrared technology, thus eliminating any need light to accurately sense motion.

That wouldn’t necessarily be all that worrisome if Microsoft was vigilant in protecting user privacy. Unfortunately, Microsoft states in their Xbox Live terms of service that users should not expect any level or privacy.

Some of the statements in the terms of service that make this type of technology troubling include:

“[W]e may access or disclose information about you, including the content of your communications, in order to: (a) comply with the law or respond to lawful requests or legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of Microsoft or our customers, including the enforcement of our agreements or policies governing your use of the Service; or (c) act on a good faith belief that such access or disclosure is necessary to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, customers, or the public.”

Not to mention the explicit statement:

“You should not expect any level of privacy concerning your use of the live communication features (for example, voice chat, video and communications in live-hosted gameplay sessions) offered through the Service.  These communications may be monitored; however, we cannot monitor the entire Service and make no attempt to do so.  You understand that these communications can be recorded and used by others , and communications in live-hosted gameplay sessions may be broadcast to others.”

While it’s obviously quite obvious that the in-game communication is not private (since you’re talking to other human beings), the terms do not limit the lack of privacy to only those types of communications.

Instead, it says, “for example,” leaving the possibility that the information captured by the always-on Kinect would fall under similar terms.

Unfortunately when it comes to corporations like Microsoft, we can’t assume the best and think that all communications captured by Kinect will be treated as private and protected.

Furthermore, we must realize that this type of technology would be a prime target for hackers.

Microsoft says that privacy is a “top priority” and that “Kinect for Xbox 360 was designed and built with strong privacy protections in place and the new Kinect will continue this commitment.”

Yet as Extreme Tech points out, “we know from experience, though, no system is invulnerable to the manifold attack vectors exploited by malware authors. The Xbox and Xbox 360 were chipped/modded/rooted, and it’s fairly safe to assume that the Xbox One will also suffer the same fate.”

To make matters even worse, in 2012 Microsoft filed for a patent related to their Kinect system that uses “camera-based system that would monitor the number of viewers in a room and check to see if the number of occupants exceeded a certain threshold set by the content provider.”

“If there are too many warm bodies present, the device owner would be prompted to purchase a license for a greater number of viewers,” Extreme Tech explained in an article.

Concerned? You have some very legitimate reasons to be. You will probably want to keep these in mind when considering the purchase of an Xbox One.

UPDATE: While Extreme Tech says that it will constantly be connected to the Internet, Kotaku writes, “Microsoft is also being sketchy about whether or not the platform will be always-online, something that has been rumored for quite some time now.”

(NaturalNews) For centuries, the art of breathing has been one of a myriad of tools employed by Yoga masters in order to calm the body and mind, in preparation for meditation, contemplation or simply to remain in control of one’s emotions. Long utilized as a spiritual practice, a recent study has now brought the use of breathing as a way to control emotions into the realm of neuroscience. The results are promising and could mean a reduction in the administration of drugs as a form of anxiety, depression and anger management.

The study and its findings

Carried out at the Universite de Louvain by Dr. Pierre Philippot, the research study focused on two groups with the aim of investigating whether breathing can generate and regulate emotions and their intensity.

While we are already aware that breathing has a calming effect on us, in situations such as when we are under pressure or in the midst of panic, it isn’t clear whether breathing actually generates emotions. This study helped immensely in that regard since it showed that each emotion actually has a specific breathing pattern associated with it.

For example:

Panic – Short, fast, shallow breaths
Anger – Long forced breaths
Calmness – Slow steady breaths
Happiness – Long inhalations, long exhalations

The first group was asked to generate each of the above emotions by modifying their breathing pattern and recalling a memory that helps in eliciting that emotion.

Each participant from group one also filled out a questionnaire, citing breathing patterns alongside each emotion according to their own experience. This questionnaire proved to be eye-opening as the answers garnered were in accordance with each other right across the board, for the most part. That is, each participant used a similar breathing pattern to generate happiness (and this holds true also for the other emotions).

The second group was asked to breathe using the breathing patterns from the first study group. Not long after, they began to experience the specific emotion attached to that particular breathing pattern made clear in the first part of the test.

The results suggest – just as Yoga masters and instructors have known for centuries, breathing really does affect one’s emotional state.

What does this mean for you?

Quite simply, it means that there is now another tried and tested method for controlling our emotional state, which previously was believed so difficult. Once this information is passed on to the general public, no longer just in possession of Yoga practitioners, we might see a slight improvement in the general mental health of the population.

Sufferers of anxiety, depression, anger etc. will be able to learn how to control their emotions through breathing and this could mean a drop in the dependence upon drugs as a treatment. For many, drugs are not working, and are in fact making things worse.

Granted, just as with anything that requires concentration, such as exercise or meditation, breathing to control one’s emotions undoubtedly requires discipline and diligence. Nevertheless, these results offer a much needed alternative to the limited techniques already in use for those in emotional turmoil and could one day be employed by therapists and counselors.

Uzbek quest for US weapons could dent Central Asia

2014 is approaching, and so is the deadline for the withdrawal of US-led coalition forces from Afghanistan. Leon Panetta, the then-US Defense Secretary, in 2012 announced that by the end of 2014 coalition forces would cease any combat operations and would be limited to normal military duties in the country. Moreover, [Afghan President] Hamid Karzai, in a recent interview, gave approval to allowing nine US military bases even after the pullout.

With the United States wary of transporting heavy weaponry out of Afghanistan, offers have been made by the Central Asian states, such as Uzbekistan, in return for some of the latest arms and equipment that they lack. According to a report by The New York Times, policy makers in Washington took Uzbekistan’s offer so seriously that the United States has partially lifted a set of arms sales restrictions that has been in place for about a decade.

Last year, in June, reports started to surface that Uzbekistan that faces international arms embargoes due to widespread human rights violations, started negotiations for a possible arms-transit and military base deal with the USA, that would help the coalition forces take its equipment out of Afghanistan, whereas Tashkent would benefit by acquiring the state-of-the-art weaponry. Kazakhstan’s newspaper Liter, on August 15 last year, predicted that a possible deal for a US base in Uzbekistan could be reached when US Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake visited Tashkent.

Uzbekistan, for long has been indicating shifting its alliances and partners. One of such indications was its withdrawal from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a military cooperation initiative between Russia and Central Asian states [as well as Armenia and Belarus]. It would have been difficult for Tashkent to enter into military negotiations with the United States if it were a member of the CSTO, but abandoning the CSTO freed it from coming under any pressure.

In terms of geostrategic importance, the most feasible gateway for cargo withdrawal is Pakistan, yet it seems that the coalition forces want as many alternatives as possible, such as Uzbekistan, in case Islamabad decides to go against its deals with NATO and close the NATO supply line, or even ask for more money.

Such a move by Uzbekistan would mean it wants to turn its back on Russia, a neighbour that supports much of the Uzbek workforce. Russia, even after the Soviet disintegration, has maintained a substantial influence over some of the Central Asian states, but this influence has mostly been in the form of mutual cooperation and better relations.

In another move, NATO’s representative for Central Asia James Appathurai held meetings with Uzbek ministers in March this year, in what seemed to be a move to gain Uzbek support against Russia.

If the United States is successful in establishing a military base in Uzbekistan, it would entail bad political consequences, and hence play a role in destabilising not only Central Asia, but also South Asia, as the anti-US sentiment and motivation for radical Islamists could fuel a wave of militancy that could also spill over into Russia, one of the most important states in the region. Such concerns were raised by a Russian military expert, Lt Gen Leonid Sazhin¸ saying, “Although Americans claims that they are fighting against the Taliban in Afghanistan today, it will be them who, by deploying their facility in Uzbekistan, will lead Taliban members there.”

A base in Uzbekistan, that neighbours Afghanistan, could also be used for surgical strikes, and even drone attacks, into neighbouring Afghanistan, that could also raise major human rights concerns and sour relations with Kabul.

If the United States is successful in establishing a fully operational base in Uzbekistan, this would also worry China, another regional power, as it has already shown concerns over the bases surrounding it, known as the ‘ring of fire’. In any case, Uzbekistan needs to decide whether such a venture would be beneficial for the country and the region or will bring chaos in the long run.

Anyone who consumes cannabis on a regular basis knows that it doesn’t make you a dangerous drive. David J. McFadden, co-author of the “Renewing Ontario’s Electricity Distribution Sector” report, discusses Ontario’s uniquely complex and inefficient electricity system, and what needs to change so that it can support the province’s economic future.

The guest is talking about reducing the number of power distribution systems to a much smaller number. Would this require seizing control over them by a centralized government-empowered monopoly? He hopes it can be done voluntarily. I guess the corporatocracy can do whatever it wants – eventually.

This whole discussion is about smart meters and smart grid. The most stomach-churning part of the interview is when he paints smart meters as a way of providing more choice to consumers. But of course it is an invasion of privacy and is going to allow remote interference and monitoring of our power use.

Please note: He expects everyone to have electric cars in the future – for some reason – actually because our society is centrally planned more than ever. And every night when we plug in our car, it might disrupt the old-style power grid. This is one of his explanations for why we need the smart grid.

Talk about collectivism! You’d think by now we could all have our own independent power source! But everything is moving in the opposite direction. Isn’t it amazing?

If you plug your car in, you might disrupt the network, or we might need to drain off some of your power, so therefore you must have the smart grid. Don’t you want to live in a utopia?

So we’re talking about massive centralization of our electricity system, as well as electronic surveillance and control over our energy use.

In my opinion, this is actually just getting us ready for not having enough energy – or enough money to pay for more expensive energy. And one reason for centralization and the smart grid is to “efficiently” manage an artificially created scarcity of electricity – caused by shutting down coal plants for instance.

And all of this is going to be sold to us as “choice” – as if we have a choice – with never-ending streams of propaganda telling us how empowered we are.

Thousands of Canadians have turned to Twitter to express their anger with the shortcomings of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s government and called on him to resign, Press TV reports.

Canadian Twitter users have texted the message “#PMHarperMustResign” for shortcomings of the government, including the ruling Conservative Party’s election fraud, abuse of aboriginal peoples, and senate expense scandals.

However, the main reason behind the anger seems to be Chief of Staff Nigel Wright’s admission that he cut a check for $90,000 to repay the fraudulent expense claims of a Conservative senator.

”Quite frankly I think the only thing that really … do justice to the situation we have right now is for Harper to be arrested and put on trial for high treason against Canada. That’s the only think that will justify, that’s the only thing that’ll bring true justice to the situation. He is guilty of high treasons against this country,” said Thomas Stone, journalist and political analyst.”

The Canadians Twitter users have also criticized the Harper government for its one-sided support for Israel.

Twitter users have blamed the prime minister “For putting the interests of Israel before those of Canada” and have accused him of “showing total disregard to Palestinian’s rights and freedoms and supporting Israel’s Human rights abuses.”

ORLANDO — In what continues to be the most bizarre series of ongoing events, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Ibragim Todashev, was shot and killed in his apartment by the FBI just before midnight last night. Authorities believed the man to be a friend of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the alleged Boston bombing suspects. Tamerlan has also been said to be alive by some, including a family member after a video surfaced of Tamerlan being stuffed into a police car naked by Boston Police.

We also must question the late night visit paid to, Todashev, the MMA fighter, by the FBI. It was like an interrogation. According to the field agents, Todashev made a fast move that got him shot and killed.W hy the fast move during an interview? Why were the agents on edge? Some speculate that the FBI was sent there to kill Todashev as he knew crucial details regarding one of the alleged Boston bombing suspects, and was likely a threat to the establishments official story.

Wired’s Danger Room reported, “A friend of Todashev’s who says he was also interviewed by the FBI, Khusn Taramiv, said Todashev was a friendly acquaintance of the elder Tsarnaev brother from Boston. Both are of Chechen origin, but did not meet in Chechnya, Taramiv told the local NBC affiliate WESH-TV.

According to Taramiv, Todashev knew Tsarnaev from the tight-knit community of Chechens in Boston. Todashev spoke with Tsarnaev about a month before the bombings, possibly on Skype, after noticing him online; Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s name was in Todashev’s phone. Taramiv said that Todashev didn’t know anything about the bombings and wasn’t any sort of extremist. Todashev apparently got his green card recently and was planning a trip to Chechnya to see his parents. According to Taramiv, Todashev never owned a weapon and worried that the FBI was trying to set him up in connection to the bombings.

Todashev was also arrested recently in what Taramiv described as a parking lot altercation with two men who jumped him. A former mixed-martial arts fighter, there are a number of YouTube videos purporting to show his fighting career, and this MMA website lists him recording a win in a single bout. (Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a boxer in Massachusetts.)”

All of this now raising questions by common folk.

It seems as the brothers (bombing suspects) are possibly being set up patsies or are working directly with intelligence agencies to portray a Hollywood production to the American people, in plain sight.

Dan Dicks, reporting for Press for Truth out of Canada, was able to score a phone interview with Tamerlan’s Aunt. During the interview, she positively identified the man being stuffed into the police car in the video is Tamerlan, signifying he is still alive despite what has been reported by authorities.

To top it off on May 6, 2013, I reported that the bombing suspects family sought a 2nd autopsy as they did not belive the official story. An excerpt from the article reads, “Since the Boston bombing suspects were named the family has been openly suspicious about the official government story, even insisting that the whole ordeal is a set up. So far there have been conflicting reports about the fate of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, some say he is the naked man that was taken into police custody weeks ago while the official story states that he was killed while fighting with police.

According to CNN:

For nearly two weeks, Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s body lay unclaimed at the Boston medical examiner’s office. A funeral home now has the remains and a quest is underway to find him a resting place in Massachusetts. But first, he will undergo a second “independent” autopsy demanded by his relatives, a family spokeswoman said.

The other suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was actually unarmed when he was shot and arrested inside the boat that he was found in. These details are only the latest and most damning

As we reported last week New Hampshire State Representative Stella Tremblay has recently suggested that the Boston Bombings could be a “Black Ops” government job and says that people should think for themselves in coming to conclusions.”

And if that’s not enough. It was also reported by Infowars.com on April 29, 2013 that the original bombing suspect, Sunil Tripathi, was found dead in Providence River.

The city’s buskers better band together and begin speaking with one voice, or risk never reopening the debate around a controversial ByWard Market bylaw that has left some of them literally voiceless, said Councillor Mathieu Fleury Wednesday.

Early Wednesday morning, one of Fleury’s aids sent off a letter to busking chess champ Daryl Bertrand, who has been slapped with multiple $260 fines for busking without a licence, laying out that the councillor and city “need to have a coordinated approach if we choose to modify the existing ByWard Market bylaw.”

First enforced in 2010, the bylaw requires all buskers in the market to pay a fee of $50 for a license and daily busking permits that start at $10.45 and can cost as much as $200. It also requires them to cycle through a series of 12 stations where they can only perform for one hour.

In recent weeks, Fleury’s aid wrote in the letter, that the Councillor has met with multiple buskers with differing points of view, especially on the issue of voice amplification. Bertrand said that some buskers “are concerned about voice amplification as they play instruments and don’t want any other amplification that could cost them business.”

It is a short-sighted approach, he said, “as more buskers means more people, which means more money.”
