Olympic Corporate Madness: Twitter Locks Out Journalist After Complaints from NBC
#NBCFail – Corporate media giant silences criticism of ‘horrid’ Olympic coverage

Guy Adams, a Los Angeles correspondent for the London based Independent newspaper, has had his account suspended by Twitter after they received complaints from the mammoth corporate media outlet NBC over Adams criticism of the networks Olympic coverage.
That’s right, we now find ourselves in a world where corporate news giants can use their power to actually silence legitimate journalists who are critical of their coverage.
The Twitter suspension came after Adams published a now viral article on the widespread criticism of NBCs ridiculous Olympic coverage which was highlighted by the fact that NBC didn’t allow anyone in America to see some of the main events live, opting instead to show them during the advertiser coveted prime time slot.
“According to Twitter, he was suspended for a message posted during the Opening Ceremony, when NBC prevented viewers of America from watching live coverage, so that the network could screen the occasion during an evening prime-time slot coveted by advertisers, wrote the Independent.
The man responsible for NBC pretending the Olympics haven’t started yet is Gary Zenkel,” wrote Mr Adams. “Tell him what * think!” His tweet then contained the work email address of Mr Zenkel, the President of NBC Olympics.”
The supposed reason for Adams suspension smacks any grasp on reality directly in the face when you consider that the email Mr. Adams tweeted was a PUBLIC email address and was in no way shape or form private.
“I didn’t publish a private email address, just a corporate one, which is widely available to anyone with access to Google and is identical to one that all of the tens of thousands of NBC Universal employees share. It’s no more ‘private’ than the address I’m emailing you from right now.
“Either way, [it’s] quite worrying that NBC, whose parent company is an Olympic sponsor, is apparently trying (and, in this case, succeeding) in shutting down the Twitter accounts of journalists who are critical of their Olympic coverage.”
It is important to note that Twitter is absolutely a part of this fiasco and is setting a dangerous precedent by allowing a corporate media giant to censor a legitimate journalist with an excuse that could be debunked by a five year old.
