Police shot alleged perpetrator of Copenhagen shootings at Free Speech Debate and Synagogue

Christof Lehmann (nsnbc) : Police in the Danish capital Copenhagen shot and killed the alleged perpetrator of an attack on a free speech and blasphemy debate as well as an attack on the community center of the Copenhagen Synagogue. Two civilians were killed and five police officers were injured during the attacks, reports Copenhagen police.
Saturday, at approximately 15:30 CET a “lone gunman” armed with an automatic rifle attempted to gain access to the cultural center “Krudttønden” in Copenhagen’s Østerbro district. Participants in the public debate on free speech and blasphemy included the French Ambassador to Denmark, Lars Zimaray, and the Swedish “Mohamed cartoonist” Lars Vilks.
Vilks had been subject to several attempts on his life due to his cartoons of the Prophet Mohamed. Police and staff from Denmark’s domestic intelligence service, Politiets Efterretningstjeneste (PET) were present at the event.
It was reportedly due to the swift return of fire by police that the gunman was repelled in the foyer. Three police officers were reportedly injured during the exchange of gunfire. All three are in stable condition.
One 55 year-old civilian whose name has not yet been officially released or independently verified was shot dead during the shootout. Initial reports described the deceased as a 40-year-old.
The gunman fled the scene in a dark, according to some reports black, according to other reports dark blue Volkswagen Polo. Initial reports alleged two gunmen. Police later stated to the press that they were looking for one gunman. It remains currently uncertain whether the alleged perpetrator “commandeered” the escape vehicle as some initial reports suggested, and who the registered owner of the car is.
The car was discovered at about an hour after the shooting at the cultural center. Police reports that the alleged perpetrator then entered a taxi cab who reported to Copenhagen police that he had driven a person that matched the description of the man police was looking for to an address at Svanevej in Copenhagen.
The alleged gunman arrived at the address at about 16:15 CET and left the premises again at 16:37 reports Danish police, citing video cameras in the area as source. Police states that it has kept the apartment complex under surveillance since about 23:00 CET on Saturday.
At about 01:00 am CET on Sunday, a gunman attacked the community house of the Copenhagen Synagogue of the Danish Mosaic Faith Community in Krystalgade. A gunman opened fire at the guards at the community house. One of the private guards was fatally injured while two police officers sustained injuries but are in stable condition, report Danish police as well as Danish PM Helle Thorning Schmidt. The PM held a press conference together with Minister of Justice Mette Frederiksen at about 10:30 CET on Sunday.
Danish Police issued a statement, saying that police officers observed that the alleged gunman returned to the area at Svanevej at about 04:30 – 05:00 o’ clock on Sunday morning.
Police states that officers of the Police Action Force (Politiets Aktionsstyrke) called on the man who he responded by opening fire and shot several shots at the police officers. Police reports that the officers at the scene then returned fire and fatally shot the alleged perpetrator. None of the police officers were injured.
During a press briefing at 08:00 o’clock on Sunday morning, police spokespersons stated that their current working theory is that it is one and the same person who committed both the attack on the cultural center and on the Synagogue’s community house.
A person with experience within the domestic intelligence service PET as well as within Danmark’s national police stated that it is unlikely that police would state that they are working on the basis of a “lone gunman hypothesis” unless they were rather certain that the evidence that supports their hypothesis.
Police and PET are, however, investigating the alleged perpetrator’s computer, phone, question persons with ties to him. Besides that, police is conducting a large-scale forensic investigation including ballistic investigations, DNA analysis, searches of large areas with police dogs, and other investigations. An apartment in Mjølnerparken, an area known for a high percentage of immigrants was reportedly ransacked by 15 police officers on Sunday morning. The apartment is located some 500 meters from where the alleged gunman was shot dead by police. Video material police investigates reportedly suggests that the alleged perpetrator was at the apartment before he went on to carry out the second attack.
PET released a statement on its website, stating that everything suggests that the events were a terrorist attack and that PET confirms that the terror threat in Denmark was and remains serious. That is, the next highest level. PET otherwise states that it assists Copenhagen police and refers to Copenhagen police for additional information.
Neither Copenhagen police nor PET are currently responding to individual media and journalists and their questions. That means, “all” actually available information is the information that is being released during official police and government press briefings.
Among questions which would be relevant for independent media would, for example be:
- What is the name of the alleged perpetrator who was shot and killed Sunday morning?
- Who is the registered owner of the Volkswagen Polo – the escape vehicle?
- Who are the two civilian victims who were shot and killed at the cultural center and the Synagogue’s community house? (see updates below)
- Has PET or Police had any previous contact with the alleged perpetrator?
- Was it necessary to fatally shoot the alleged perpetrator and why was it impossible for a specially trained police force to arrest and detain him alive?
Danish Prime and Justice Ministers Press Conference. Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning Schmidt and Minister of Justice Mette Frederiksen held a joint press conference at the Danish Parliament’s “Hall of Mirrors” at about 10:20 on Sunday. Thorning Schmidt conveyed her condolences to the families and loved ones of the two deceased and thanked police for a swift and professional response to the attacks. She particularly thanked those officers who were injured while carrying out their work. The PM also thanked PET, the Danish military as well as the health services for their efforts.
The PM stressed that the killing of two innocent civilians and the injuring of five police officers during the attack on a debate on free speech and the attack on the Synagogue’s community house were an attacks on all of Denmark and all that, what Denmark stands for. Especially with regards to Denmark’s Jewish community, Thorning Schmidt stressed that the people of Mosaic faith in Denmark don’t stand alone and that Denmark also stands behind them. Helle Thorning Schmidt thanked the Chancellor of Germany, the President of France and the PM of Spain for expressing their solidarity.

Hebdo Part Deux in Denmark: ‘ISIS-Inspired’ Gunmen Attack Cartoonist and Synagogue
21st Century Wire says…
Feb 15, 2015
Is this yet another GLADIO-style attack in Europe?
It’s Hebdo Part Deux in Denmark this week, as the public are told that another “ISIS-inspired attack” took place earlier today…
One man was reportedly killed and others injured as two masked gunmen opened fire at the Krudttoenden Cultural Centre Cafe in Copenhagen (image above), after the venue was sprayed with over 200 bullets.
We’re then told that the gunman then fled in a carjacked Volkswagen Polo. As with the Paris action-drama, the two gunman are now ‘on the run’.
For good measure it seems, and identical to the Paris template, their was a second shooting – outside of a Synagogue, where two police officers were wounded in the arms and legs, and a civilian man was also killed. A gunman fled on foot.
Unlike the Paris Attacks, there were no “amateur cell phone videos” made to record the attack, only official CCTV images released to the public, perhaps because of issues regarding controlling the set and additional problems with poor execution in Paris which prompted wide-spread criticism over the “fakeness” of the films.
As a result, the Danish government have deployed the military and declared Martial Law until the terror threat level is reduced.
Organizers were hosting a dubious debate entitled, ‘Art, Blasphemy and Freedom of Expression’, with the star speaker being none other than Lars Vilks, 68, a Swedish cartoonist who sparks riots across Europe and the Middle East after publishing offensive drawings that depicted the Prophet Mohammed as a dog in 2007.
TROUBLED: Cartoonist Vilks has been targeted ever since his controversy in 2007.
If this was indeed another contrived false flag event, the staging could not have been better as this event also marked the anniversary of the Islamic fatwa against British author Salman Rushdie for his book The Satanic Verses.
The global media appeared to have the narrative in place in real-time. “I clearly consider this an attack on Lars Vilks,” said Helle Merete Brix, one of the event’s organizers – a declaration which she made to AP only minutes after the incident took place.
Last year a mentally ill Pennsylvania actor, Collen Rose, rebranded by the media as ‘Jihad Jane’ was sentenced to a 10-year prison term for “plotting” to kill Vilks, and two brothers were imprisoned for attempted arson in 2010 when they tried to burn his home down in southern Sweden.
Not surprisingly, the laconic Vilks has been complaining as of late that because of all the violence fewer organizations were inviting him to give lectures.
From a GLADIO perspective of using terror to coerce a government into a specific geopolitical position (as appears to be the case with France last month), Denmark does not appear to be falling outside of the US-led “Coalition” against ISIS in the Middle East. Last September, Denmark joined France, Britain, Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Canada in launching airstrikes in Iraq. However, Denmark is NOT involved in the campaign in Syria, but that could change now that ‘terror’ has finally arrived on its doorstep.
Could this be a Hebdo Copy Cat attack? Perhaps, but readers may want to keep an eye out for any sudden geopolitical moves, or right-wing political advances in the immediate aftermath of this shady event.
If this is a false flag operation, expect colorful media coverage of new “terror raids” to take place somewhere in Europe over the next 72 hours, as western intelligence agencies move to liquidate some informant cells, and bring closure to the Copenhagen event – with a full Hegelian package of “Problem, Reaction, Solution.”

The meeting of the Bilderberg Group will take place in the Kingdom of Denmark located in the EU starting May 29th and ends on June 1st. Bilderberg Group or Bilderberg conference is an unofficial annual “invitation-only” conference of around 130 guests from all around the world from people of influence in the fields of business, media, energy, banking , politics and even royalty. The decisions made at these meetings are not decisions that benefit the general public. The Bilderberg Group promotes one world government. Since the constant exposure of the Bilderberg Group by real journalists over the years, they have been forced to unveil themselves to the public by publishing their very own website which was created a few years ago, which allows people to see who attends and what the topics of discussion are. But still, protesters and alternative media still catch attendees that are not listed on website and other sinister agendas (topics of discussion) are leaked that are not portrayed on their website as well.

VIDEO — Watched, Harassed, Kicked Out, & Arrested. Bilderberg 2014 Begins.
Brave The World
May 27, 2014
We were in the Marriott Hotel lobby. Luke Rudkowski went to confront the Bilderberberg organizers. Paul Joseph Watson of Infowars, Luke, and I, were then immediately ordered to delete all our footage.
The police were called. Paul and I left like we were asked although we had rooms at the hotel. Luke and Dan were right behind us, too heading for the door. We later found out that Luke and Dan Dicks were arrested.
Charlie of the Guardian and his wife Hannah (an organizer for the protest) who we were having drinks with earlier were then tracked down and evacuated from their rooms because they were seen speaking to us…they called us and told us we too were not allowed to return. They were told that the hotel was simply “taking orders” from the secret service.
Earlier, Charlie and Hannah were sat near the Bilderberg organizers and heard them talking to the security. The security told the organizers that they would be “protected.” From what? Camera phones?
These people decide our future. Whatever they are deciding, they do not wish us to know. Yet.

St. Jude Day Storms: 13 Dead as Hurricane-Force Winds Batter Britain, France, Germany
weather.com
October 28, 2013
LONDON — A savage coastal storm powered by hurricane-force gusts slashed its way through Britain and western Europe on Monday, felling trees, flooding lowlands and snarling traffic in the air, at sea and on land. At least 13 people were reported killed.
It was one of the worst storms to hit the region in years. The deadly tempest had no formal name — and wasn’t officially classified as a hurricane due to a meteorological standard — but it was dubbed the St. Jude storm (after the patron saint of lost causes) and “stormageddon” on social networks.
Gusts of 99 miles per hour were reported on the Isle of Wight in southern England, while gusts up to 80 mph hit the British mainland. Later in the day, parts of Denmark saw record gusts up of to 120 mph and an autobahn in central Germany was shut down by gusts up to 62 mph.
“This was not just a British storm,” said weather.com meteorologist Nick Wiltgen. “The core of powerful winds marched relentlessly east, raking northern France and the Low Countries before slamming into northern Germany, Denmark, and southern Sweden. That latter phase in particular was exceptionally intense, with a 105-mph gust in extreme northern Germany and many many places gusting over 85 mph in the surrounding area.”
Wiltgen warned the high winds would sweep across the southern Baltic Sea and into the countries of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania Monday night.
(MORE: Track the UK Storm)
All across the region, people were warned to stay indoors. Hundreds of trees were uprooted or split, blocking roads and crushing cars. The Dutch were told to leave their beloved bicycles at home for safety’s sake.
At least thirteen storm-related deaths were reported, most victims crushed by falling trees. Germany had six deaths, Britain had five and the Netherlands and Denmark had one each. One woman was also missing after being swept into the surf in France.
Two people were killed in London by a gas explosion and a British teen who played in the storm-driven surf was swept out to sea. A man in Denmark was killed when a brick flew off and hit him in the head.
Despite the strength of its gusts, the storm was not considered a hurricane because it didn’t form over warm expanses of open ocean like the hurricanes that batter the Caribbean and the United States. Britain’s national weather service, the Met Office, said Britain does not get hurricanes because those are “warm latitude” storms that draw their energy from seas far warmer than the North Atlantic. Monday’s storm also did not have an “eye” at its center like most hurricanes.

The Tri-Command Strategy and Merging U.S.-Canada Arctic Foreign Policy
by Dana Gabriel
Be Your Own Leader
December 30, 2012
The Arctic has become an important part of North American perimeter security. Recently, the U.S. and Canada signed two new agreements that will expand bilateral military training, security and defense operations in the region. Both countries are working together to prepare for any real or perceived threats and are moving towards merging their Arctic foreign policies.
On December 11, 2012, the U.S. and Canada signed the Tri-Command Framework for Arctic Cooperation which will further integrate United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) and North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). According to a press release, the framework is designed to, “promote enhanced military cooperation in the Arctic and identify specific areas of potential Tri-Command cooperation in the preparation for and conduct of safety, security and defense operations.” USNORTHCOM, CJOC and NORAD will work more closely in the region with regards to planning, domain awareness, information-sharing, training and exercises, operations, capability development, as well as in the area of science and technology. This also ties in with the Tri-Command Training and Exercise Statement of Intent. The newly signed military document is aimed at, “enhancing joint and combined readiness in support of safety, security and defense missions through combined training and exercises and reinforcing partnerships and collaboration among the Commands.”
The latest U.S.-Canada military agreements are part of the Tri-Command strategy and demonstrate the importance being placed on the Arctic. The Tri-Command Vision has previously called for USNORTHCOM, NORAD and Canada Command which has now been replaced by CJOC to, “Improve unity of effort with each other and with our respective mission partners; develop a culture of continuous collaboration and cooperation in planning, execution, training, information management, and innovation; enhance intelligence and information sharing and fusion.” In order to better achieve these objectives, “The Commands shall develop and share comprehensive, situational awareness and a common operating picture, and must strive to interact seamlessly with each other and with our respective civil authorities, non-governmental organizations and other mission partners.” The Tri-Command is part of efforts to merge both countries, security and military priorities under the umbrella of a single, U.S.-dominated North American Command.
As part of the April 2011 U.S. Department of Defense Unified Command Plan, responsibility for the Arctic region is now shared between USNORTHCOM and USEUCOM. With the move, USNORTHCOM was given the primary task of planning and advocating for future Arctic capabilities, as well as engaging with stakeholders across the U.S. military, other agencies and international bodies. This is significant considering USNORTHCOM’s partnership with CJOC, along with NORAD and was instrumental in the development of the Tri-Command Framework for Arctic Cooperation. In an example of what we can expect with regards to joint Arctic security, Canada’s 2010 military sovereignty exercise, Operation Nanook included the U.S. and Denmark. The Arctic is also an emerging issue for the NATO alliance. Canada and the U.S., along with other NATO member countries have participated in the annual Cold Response war games. Strengthening its military presence in the region and enhancing security collaboration with Canada and other northern partners has become an essential component of America’s Arctic strategy.
In mid-2013, Canada will begin chairing a two-year term of the Arctic Council with the U.S. assuming the leadership role from 2015–17. Many view this as an opportunity for both countries to advance a North American Arctic agenda. The intergovernmental forum which also includes Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Russia promotes cooperation, coordination and interaction among the Arctic states. The Arctic Council has signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue which became the first legally binding deal ever negotiated between all the eight Arctic nations. As far as military and security concerns go, in April 2012, Canada hosted a meeting of the Northern Chiefs of Defence to discuss shared Arctic interests. This included common safety and security issues in the region such as emergency response and support to civilian authorities. The conference provided a setting to hold multilateral and bilateral talks focused on the Arctic and there are calls to have similar meetings on a regular basis.
The U.S. and Canada share similar goals and concerns in the Arctic and are further building up their military presence in the region. With a strategic framework in place, both countries are working towards establishing a North American Arctic foreign policy. At times, Canadian and Russian rhetoric in regards to Arctic sovereignty has been reminiscent of the Cold War era. Rising tensions could further escalate the militarization of the far north. Increasing diplomatic efforts is the key to building the foundation for more multilateral cooperation in the area. While the process to resolve territorial disputes and the scramble to secure resources has thus far been peaceful, the Arctic still remains a potential flashpoint for conflict.
