Mulcair And Trudeau Are Cousins According To Genealogy Website

Politicians being cousins or being related is not a new thing. In the fall of 2011 we wrote about Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty and his conservative counterpart Tim Hudak being cousins.

In the United States related politicians has been covered quite extensively.

It was reported that George Bush Jr and John Kerry where not only Skull and Bones members, but also cousins. Bush was also reported to be a cousin of current president Barrack Obama.

In fact a 12 year old girl proved that 42 of the 43 American presidents are all related.

Now Ancestry.ca is stating that Thomas Mulcair and Justin Trudeau are also cousins.

“One leads the federal New Democrats. The other appears to have a lock on the leadership of the Liberals. But, as they square off in the House of Commons over the next two years, Thomas Mulcair and Justin Trudeau will be staring down a cousin.

The genealogy website Ancestry.ca says it has discovered that Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Mulcair share French-Canadian ancestors.

Mr. Trudeau, the front-runner in the Liberal party leadership contest which will be decided this weekend, and Mr. Mulcair, who became Leader of the NDP a year ago, are connected through their eighth great-grandparents Mathieu Amiot and Marie Miville which makes the politicians ninth cousins, Ancestry.ca says in a news release issued Thursday.”
