ACTION ALERT: One Man Stands Between Liberty and Tyranny in Kansas

P.A.N.D.A. People Against The NDAA
February 18, 2013

On Thursday, the Kansas House Corrections Committee held a hearing on HB 2161, and came out undecided and sharply divided. Now, one man stands between Federal tyranny and the liberty of Kansas, Committee Chair John Rubin.

Even with tremendous grassroots support, Rubin told the Topeka Capital-Journalthe bill will not likely move forward.” However, inside sources at the Tenth Amendment Center said he will change his mind if we pressure him enough.

Let’s bring that pressure, shall we?

Show Committee Chair John Rubin (R) what the grassroots can do. Flood his inbox, outbox (be sure to ask he contact you back), phone lines, desk, and assistants with calls, letters, and emails!

Chair John Rubin

Phone: 785 296-7690

Email: john.rubin@house.ks.gov

Be sure to tell him to bring HB 2161 through committee!

(Out-of-staters are encouraged to contact him as well, and we find if you don’t mention your state the contact has more impact.)

ACTION ALERT: Colorado Anti-NDAA Bill Faces Final Stand

P.A.N.D.A. People Against The NDAA
February 22, 2013

BOWLING GREEN- Following a huge success on February 18th, 2013, where HB 1045 passed committee 7-4, Colorado’s Anti-NDAA bill a faces a possible defeat on the House floor.

HB 1045 is designed to counter the indefinite detention provisions, sections 1021 and 1022, of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. These sections authorize the indefinite military detention, without charge or trial, of anyone who commits a “belligerent act,” or is suspected of terrorism, and violate over 13 provisions of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. the law has also been condemned by retired members of the Armed Forces, a current U.S. Congressman, Federal Judge Katherine B. Forrest, conservative pundit Rush Limbaugh, and the American Civil Liberties Union.

HB 1045 would restore the protections in the Bill of Rights for the people of Colorado, prohibit any person in the state from being indefinitely detained, and prohibit any person from applying the “laws of war” including detention and execution, in Colorado.

Now, according our sources, Rep. Bob Gardner will attempt to crush the bill on the House floor. Rep. Gardner will attempt to kill the liberty of the people of Colorado, to violate his oath to the Constitution both as a representative and as a veteran of the United States Air Force, and allow the President of the United States to detain, and even execute, any person in Colorado.

Colorado, you have have awakened the sleeping giant. Now, We the People will respond.

According to our sources, we almost have the votes needed to pass. HB 1045 is scheduled for a vote on Monday, February 25th. If we bring enough pressure to Colorado this weekend, if we flood the inboxes, phone lines, and desks of these representatives with phone calls and emails, we can win this state back for liberty.

With your help, we won huge victories in Indiana, Montana, and Arizona. now, it’s time to bring that pressure to the Evergreen State.

You are the special forces, let’s take back Colorado for liberty.
Pick one, two, three or ten of these representatives and send a call and an email to thank them for supporting HB 1045 and protecting the civil liberties of the people of Colorado! (This will help secure them as supporters):

(We encourage anyone out of state to DEFINITELY still call and email, without mentioning the state you are calling from. Your support is crucial.)

Aspartame in Milk Without a Label? Big Dairy Petitions FDA For Approval

Activist Post
February 23, 2013

Two powerful dairy organizations, The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), are petitioning the Food and Drug Administration to allow aspartame and other artificial sweeteners to be added milk and other dairy products without a label.

The FDA currently allows the dairy industry to use “nutritive sweeteners” including sugar and high fructose corn syrup in many of their products. Nutritive sweeteners are defined as sweeteners with calories.

This petition officially seeks to amend the standard of identification for milk, cream, and 17 other dairy products like yogurt, sweetened condensed milk, sour cream, and others to provide for the use of any “safe and suitable sweetener” on the market.

They claim that aspartame and other artificial sweeteners would promote healthy eating and is good for school children.

According to the FDA notice issued this week:

IDFA and NMPF state that the proposed amendments would promote more healthful eating practices and reduce childhood obesity by providing for lower-calorie flavored milk products. They state that lower-calorie flavored milk would particularly benefit school children who, according to IDFA and NMPF, are more inclined to drink flavored milk than unflavored milk at school.

Although the FDA considers aspartame to be a “safe and suitable” sweetener, a recent Yale University study appears to directly challenge the claim that aspartame would reduce obesity. In fact, the study concluded just the opposite, that artificial sweeteners actually contributed to obesity and Type 2 diabetes.

The IDFA and NMPF argue “that the proposed amendments to the milk standard of identity would promote honesty and fair dealing in the marketplace” yet they don’t want changes to the labels on dairy products.

Accordingly, the petitioners state that milk flavored with non-nutritive sweeteners should be labeled as milk without further claims so that consumers can “more easily identify its overall nutritional value.”

It’s unclear how consumers can more easily identify the overall nutritional value of milk products that are flavored with non-nutritive sweeteners without labels.

Quoting Section 130.10 of the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990, the dairy giants claim a new label is not required because sugar is added to milk without labeling it, and “the modified food is not inferior in performance” and “‘reduced calorie’ (labels) are not attractive to children” so marketing as such is of no benefit or detriment.

The FDA has opened public comments until May 21 for anyone interested to “submit comments, data, and information concerning the need for, and the appropriateness of, amending the standard of identity for milk and the additional dairy standards.”

To submit a formal comment or send data to the FDA concerning adding aspartame and other artificial sweeteners to milk products CLICK HERE.

ACTION ALERT: Arizona’s ‘Anti-NDAA’ Bill to Have Hearing This Thursday

P.A.N.D.A. People Against The NDAA
February 20, 2013

This Thursday will be a busy day for anti-NDAA activists in several states. Arizona, along with Washington state and Maryland, will have a hearing to decide the fate of a bill that seeks to stop the 2012 NDAA’s provisions that allow for the indefinite detainment of U.S. citizens.

Arizona’s legislation, H.B. 2573, is written to prohibit any state agency from providing “material support or participate in any way with the implementation of Sections 1021 and 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012.”

It also requires the Director of the Department of Public Safety or a county sheriff to report to the governor and state legislature if agents of the federal government attempts to work with their agencies to enact the indefinite detention provisions.

Supporters of this legislation are encouraged to call and email all committee members to urge them to vote “YES” on H.B. 2573 before the hearing so that it moves on to the State House floor.

Out-of-state supporters are urged to contact members of the committee, without mentioning the state they are calling or emailing from, as we find that has more of an impact.

In-state supporters can also attend the hearing in person, which will start at 8 a.m. on Feb. 21 at the state capitol in Room HHR 4.

Call. Email. Testify.
