Former FBI Chief, Ted L. Gunderson, makes a statement regarding the chemtrail “death dumps”, otherwise know as air crap, on January 12, 2011. Ted says the following: “The death dumps, otherwise known as chemical trails, are being dropped and sprayed throughout the United States and England, Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Europe. I have personally seen them not only in the United States, but in Mexico and in Canada. Birds are dying around the world. Fish are dying by the hundreds of thousands around the world. This is genocide. This is poison. This is murder by the United Nations. This element within our society that is doing this must be stopped. I happen to know of two of the locations where the airplanes are that dump this crap on us. Four of the planes are out of the Air National Guard in Lincoln, Nebraska. And, the other planes are out of Fort Sill, Oklahoma. I personally have observed the planes that were standing still in Nebraska – Lincoln, Nebraska – at the Air National Guard. They have no markings on them. They are huge, bomber-like airplanes with no markings. This is a crime: a crime against humanity, a crime against America, a crime against the citizens of this great country. The must be stopped. WHAT IS WRONG WITH CONGRESS? This has an affect on their population, and their people, and their friends, and their relatives, and themselves. What’s wrong with them? What’s wrong with the pilots who are flying these airplanes and dumping this crap, this poison, on their own families? Somebody has to do something about it. Somebody in Congress has to step forward and stop it now. Thank you. I’m Ted Gunderson.” For more details, visit http://www.aircrap.org.

The European Parliament hailed the initiative to put the Syrian chemical weapons under international control and to destroy them as soon as possible.

In a statement released Thursday, the Parliament called for a binding international resolution to take action in accordance with the United Nations Charter in case Damascus wouldn’t implement the international demands.

It also called the United Nations to complete the investigation into the use of chemical weapons in Syria as soon as possible and to submit the report to the Security Council so that the latter can review procedures to be taken in response to the use of chemical weapons and to punish those responsible.

Germany rules out joining strike on Syria

PressTV
August 31, 2013

German government spokesman Steffen Seibert

Germany has ruled out taking part in any possible military action against Syria over alleged chemical weapons attacks in the Arab country.

“We have not considered it and we are not considering a military strike,” said German government spokesman Steffen Seibert on Friday, condemning chemical weapons use.

Elsewhere in his remarks Seibert said, “I don’t want to speculate here on what the correct clear international answer to this crime should or can be,” and added, “The U.N. Security Council has to consider this.”

On the same day, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle also stated that such military action had “neither been asked nor is it being considered by us.”

Westerwelle’s also said, “We are pushing for the United Nations Security Council to find a common position and for the work of UN inspectors to be finished as quickly as possible.”

On Thursday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the developments in Syria during a telephone conversation.

“In particular, it is important that the Security Council examines a report by UN inspectors about possible facts of the use of chemical weapons in Syria,” the Kremlin said in a statement after the conversation.

Seibert also said that during her talk with Putin, Merkel had emphasized that discussions at the UN Security Council should result in a “unanimous and quick international reaction.”

The rhetoric of war against Syria primarily intensified after foreign-backed opposition forces accused the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of launching a chemical attack on militant strongholds in the suburbs of Damascus on August 21.

The United States was quick to engage in a major publicity campaign to promote war against Syria despite the fact that Damascus categorically rejected the claim that it has been behind the attack.

On Tuesday, August 27, speculations became stronger about the possibility of a military attack on Syria. Media outlets reported US plans for likely surgical attacks, which would be in the form of “cruise-missile strikes,” and “could rely on … US destroyers in the Mediterranean [Sea].” The plan was said to be awaiting US President Barack Obama’s go-ahead.

On Wednesday, however, the British government announced that its support for military intervention in Syria would require a second vote in the country’s parliament. A first non-binding vote in the British legislature on August 29 rejected a British role in a potential war on Syria.

On Friday, August 30, NATO also distanced itself from participating in any military intervention in Syria, with the chief of the Western military coalition, Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, saying he did not “foresee any NATO role” in an international war on Syria.

Nevertheless, Washington has remained defiant, saying that it is willing to go ahead with its plans for a strike on Syria without the approval of the United Nations or even the support of its allies.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

Iran, Russia, and China, as well as the United Nations, have warned against war.

U.S. says it will take action against Syria even if the United Nations and allies do not back the operation

In a statement that brings to memory the attack on Iraq, the United States said that it will take action against Syria even if allies and the United Nations do not support the operation.

The attack would be a response to alleged chemical weapons use. Despite the lack of published findings by the UN investigators, Western nations have been calling for a response to the alleged attack and one report claimed that U.S., Israeli and Jordanian commandos are already on the ground in Syria.

Today the Syrian government called for an immediate UN investigation into three new alleged attacks, reportedly carried out by the rebels.

Yet the United States’ rhetoric has become increasingly bellicose today, with the Associated Press reporting that the U.S. will simply ignore the backing – or lack thereof – of the UN and allied nations.

Note: The Washington Post changed the AP story entirely. Here is the original version posted on another site.

On Wednesday, Britain proposed a draft resolution that would authorize a military operation against Syria but that effort was stymied by the continued opposition of Russia.

The Associated Press rightly notes that if the draft resolution was put to a vote, it “would almost certainly be vetoed by Russia and China, which have blocked past attempts to sanction President Bashar Assad’s regime.”

Indeed, Russia and China have presented the most significant obstacle to Western intervention in Syria for quite some time now.

Marie Harf, deputy spokeswoman for the State Department, said that the U.S. cannot be delayed in responding to the alleged attack by Russia’s opposition in the United Nations.

Russia maintained that a military strike on Syria without the approval of the UN Security Council would be a “crude violation” of international law, something which doesn’t seem to bother the U.S.

In the United States, “No War With Syria” rallies are scheduled for Saturday, August 31 in cities across the United States.

“The movement in no way support the actions of the Assad regime, but we recognize that US intervention will instigate more violence and suffering in Syria,” organizer Nick Bernabe said in a statement.

“As the U.S. is already hurting from a recession and perpetual wars, becoming involved in Syria will only create further destabilization in the Middle East and strip the people of the United States of desperately needed resources,” he added.

Opposition has also been voiced by former Congressman Dennis Kucinich, who said that a strike on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s forces would mean the U.S. was supporting al-Qaeda.

Western logic on Syria: ‘We need to bomb it to save it’

Nile Bowie
August 27, 2013

The military buildup in the Mediterranean indicates that Assad’s opponents intend to militarily intervene in Syria under cover of ‘humanitarian intervention’, a disingenuous narrative that could not be further from the truth. Pictures and videos that have surfaced following the alleged use of chemical agents in the eastern suburbs of Damascus are profoundly disturbing and a thorough and substantial investigation into what took place there is absolutely essential. However, it is conversely disturbing that those Western governments who have staunchly supported anti-government militants are using this opportunity to legitimize the use of force against the government in Damascus.

The United States, Britain, and France are unwavering in their assertions that the Assad government and the Syrian Arab army were the perpetrators of the chemical weapon attack, despite no evidence to substantiate these claims. These governments seem to be sure that Damascus is guilty on the basis of it preventing a UN investigation team from visiting the site, and when investigators eventually did reach the area, it didn’t matter to them because they argued that the Syrian government had destroyed all evidence of wrongdoing. Assad’s opponents have constructed a deeply cynical and hysterical political narrative that Western leaders are now parroting in unison.

VIDEO — ‘Bizarre to take action in Syria before UN report’

RT
August 29, 2013

The US and British drive to launch a military operation against Syria has come up against new hurdles – both abroad and at home. The UN Security Council failed to agree on how to act – but Britain says, even without a mandate, an attack would be justified on humanitarian grounds. That’s as high-ranking former military officials in Britain also warn against striking Syria.

VIDEO — Chems in Syria: Cause for invasion or regime’s crime?

RT

The UN-Arab League envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, says there’s evidence suggesting that some kind of chemical substance was used in an attack near Damascus a week ago – but that there’s no proof at this point that the Assad government is responsible. But, such an assault in itself could be enough for the US and its allies to launch a military offensive against the war-torn country – despite the UN and Syria saying the inspectors need more time at the site.
