Beware: PSA prostate cancer screening test is a dangerous hoax, warns discoverer of prostate specific antigen

(NaturalNews) Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. By the age of 50, most men have some cancerous prostate cells, although many will never know it unless they are screened, and most will not die from it.

Luckily, it’s a slow growing cancer. Although prostate cancer cases increase with age, still, only about 3% of men actually die from it.

The American Cancer Society states that in 2013, approximately 238,590 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed and estimates that about 29,720 men will die from it.

Interestingly, they also state, “Prostate cancer can be a serious disease, but most men found to have prostate cancer do not die from it. In fact, more than 2.5 million men in the United States who have had prostate cancer at some point are still alive today.”

PSA screening disaster

The standard PSA (prostate specific antigen) test was approved by the FDA in 1994, and each year millions of men are screened via a blood test for the PSA antigen, which is manufactured exclusively by the prostate gland.

For many men, this is when the serious life threatening trouble begins. Early, aggressive allopathic prostate cancer treatment can and does cause permanent damage, including impotence, heart attacks, incontinence and even death from a disease that is, ironically, statistically unlikely to kill them.

No-Holds-Barred indictment of PSA testing

In 1970, Richard J. Ablin discovered the PSA. In a 2010 N.Y. Times Op-Ed piece titled, “The Great Prostate Mistake,” Mr. Ablin sets the record straight.

“As I’ve been trying to make clear for many years now, PSA testing can’t detect prostate cancer and, more important, it can’t distinguish between the two types of prostate cancer – the one that will kill you and the one that won’t.”

Ablin explains that a PSA test merely measures how much PSA or prostate specific antigen is in your blood. Although elevated levels of PSA can be detected, that alone does not necessarily indicate prostate cancer.

Why? Because common over-the-counter medications like Ibuprofen, benign prostate enlargement (an inevitable part of aging) and infections also elevate PSA levels. Men with high PSA readings can be cancer free, while those with low readings can actually have cancer!

Ablin exclaims, “I never dreamed that my discovery four decades ago would lead to such a profit-driven public health disaster. The medical community must confront reality and stop the inappropriate use of PSA screening. Doing so would save billions of dollars and rescue millions of men from unnecessary, debilitating treatments.” (Emphasis added)

The respected British medical journal, Lancet, reported on 13 February 1993 early screening often leads to unnecessary treatment and “33% of autopsies show prostate cancer but only 1% die from it.”

Dr. Tim O’Shea, a maverick Doctor of Chiropractic, holistic health lecturer, author and founder of the doctorwithin.com website states: “This means that the immune system can hold many problems in check, as long as it is not compromised by powerful [and/or toxic] procedures.”

Gina Kolata of the New York Times cited two studies published in the March 2009 edition of the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine that concluded PSA screening increased mortality!

Sage Herb Shown to Significantly Improve Memory and Recall

by Elizabeth Renter
Natural Society

August 27, 2013

A plant offering countless health benefits, sage is an herb as old as time. And while it’s commonly used in cooking, the herb has been heavily utilized in medicine and even spirituality as well. Some of the more recent studies on sage indicate that the herb can improve memory and even possibly prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

The study, published in the June 2003 Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, looked at the effects of sage on memory recall tests. The researchers used 45 individuals in two groups; one group received a placebo while others received sage essential oil at dosages between 50 and 150 microls. Following the administration, memory tests were given. Even those who were given the smallest amount of sage oil saw notable memory improvements.

McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets found to contain mysterious fibers, hair-like structures; Natural News Forensic Food Lab posts research photos, video

August 16, 2013

(NaturalNews) Today we announce the first investigation conducted at the Natural News Forensic Food Laboratory, the new science-based research branch of Natural News where we put foods under the microscope and find out what’s really there.

Earlier today I purchased a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets from a McDonald’s restaurant in Austin, Texas. Under carefully controlled conditions, I then examined the Chicken McNuggets under a high-powered digital microscope, expecting to see only processed chicken bits and a fried outer coating.

But what I found instead shocked even me. I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff in my decade of investigating foods and nutrition, but I never expected to find this…

Update: Natural News has now released a second round of “mysterious fiber” photos of Chicken McNuggets, in addition to the photos you see below.

Strange fibers found embedded inside Chicken McNuggets

As the following photos show, the Chicken McNuggets were found to contain strange fibers that some people might say even resemble so-called “Morgellon’s.”

We found dark black hair-like structures sticking out of the nugget mass, as well as light blue egg-shaped structures with attached tail-like hairs or fibers.

These are shown in extreme detail in the photos below, taken on August 15, 2013 at the Natural News Forensic Food Lab. The actual Chicken McNugget samples used in these photos have been frozen for storage of forensic evidence.

We also found odd red coloring splotches in several locations, as well as a spherical green object that resembles algae.

We are not claiming or implying that these objects in any way make McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets unsafe to consume. We do, however, believe that this visual evidence may warrant an FDA investigation into the ingredient composition of Chicken McNuggets.

In particular, where are the hair-like structures coming from? This is especially important to answer, given that chickens do not have hair. Is there cross-species contamination in the processing of Chicken McNuggets? This question needs to be answered.

VIDEO — How to Boycott Big Food

The Eyeopener with James Corbett
August 13, 2013

The modern supermarket is less and less a place to purchase food for the household and more and more a warzone where shoppers have to negotiate a minefield of toxic chemicals and additives. From processed foods with their string of unpronounceable ingredients to the “fresh fruits and vegetables” saturated in pesticides to meat and dairy products from industrial farms where animals are raised on a diet of growth hormones and animal waste to the ever-present and ever-growing danger of GMO contamination of nearly everything, feeding healthy, nourishing food to your family is quickly becoming difficult, if not impossible, through the industrial food system.

Find out more about what you can do to escape the Big Food monopolization of our food supply in this week’s Eyeopener report from BoilingFrogsPost.com.

Research Finds Majority of BPA Exposure Comes from our Food

by Elizabeth Renter
Natural Society
August 3, 2013

bpa bisphenol a 263x164 Research Finds Majority of BPA Exposure Comes from our FoodBisphenol-A (BPA) is a toxin used in the production of a variety of products, including certain paper products, plastic food packaging, plastic bottles, and the in the linings of canned goods. It’s on dollar bills and in the water we drink. Because of this, it is also found in our bodies, but it isn’t from exposure to these products directly. New research from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) affirms what many experts have already been saying—that the majority of the BPA found within us is coming from the foods we eat.

It’s the first in-depth analysis on BPA by the EFSA since 2006 and the first to look at both food and non-food sources of BPA exposure. The agency says, surprisingly, that it’s research has also shown that BPA exposure is less prevalent than previously thought. They are currently seeking feedback on their findings and will issue a second part to their research to be specifically focused on the human health risks of BPA.

The EFSA’s research applied two approaches: exposure modeling and urine analysis. Researchers assessed exposure to known sources of BPA including air, dust, food, toys, dental sealants, and thermal paper. Then, they analyzed the presence of BPA in study subjects’ urine samples.

  • “Exposure modelling involves the assessment of exposure to BPA through food and non-food sources (thermal paper, air, dust, toys, cosmetics, dental sealants) and routes (diet, inhalation and skin contact) in the EU population. This method allows for the estimation of exposure from all sources which could be identified and quantified individually.

  • Urinary biomonitoring data (that is, levels of BPA found in the urine) were used to corroborate the Panel’s estimates of overall BPA exposure and to ensure no major source of exposure was missed.”

Some of the surprising findings from their research:

  • For infants up to 3 months, dietary exposure is estimated to be some 30 times lower than previously stated (135 ng/kg bw/day in 2013 compared to 4,000 ng/kg bw/day in 2006).
  • For adults, including women of child-bearing age, estimate for 2013 is about 11x lower than in 2006 (up to 132 ng/kg bw/day in 2013 compared to 1,500 ng/kg bw/day in 2006).

It could be that the research techniques have improved and we are getting a more accurate picture of BPA exposure now, or the research is flawed. Finally, the decrease could be explained by a growing awareness on the part of the public and manufacturers on the dangers of BPA. The second part of the research may provide greater insight into the changes.

BPA is a hormone-mimicking toxin that has been linked to increased breast cancer risk, increased incidence of obesity, accelerated maturation of girls, increased risk of diabetes, and fertility problems. A few years ago Canada became the first to ban BPA outright. Here in the U.S., the FDA recently moved to ban the substance in baby formula packaging.
