Natural Remedies for Yeast Infections and Candida

by Tony Isaacs
Natural News

September 16, 2008

(NaturalNews) Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of yeast which can affect the skin (yeast rash), mouth (thrush), digestive tract, esophagus, vagina (vaginitis), and other parts of the body. Yeast infections occur most frequently in moist areas of the body. Although Candida albicans and other Candida yeasts are the most frequent offenders, other yeast groups are known to cause illness. These include Torulopsis, Cryptococcus, Malassezia, and Trichosporon yeasts. Here are some natural and home remedies which may help:

Vaginal Yeast Infections:

* Take a superior brand of colloidal silver both internally by mouth, and vaginally by coating a tampon with a combination of colloidal silver, a few drops of tea tree oil and either aloe vera gel or KY jelly. Insert it into the vagina and leave for 30-40 minutes. Likewise, douches with colloidal silver and a few drops of tea tree oil can rid yeast infections and keep them at bay.

* Ease the maddening itch of a yeast infection with a suppository made with boric acid. Although its name sounds harsh, boric acid acts as a mild antiseptic and has antiviral and antifungal properties. Insert one suppository every night as long as needed. Do not exceed 14 days. If you don`t find the suppositories in your natural food store, ask your pharmacist to make them.

* Yogurt. Dip a tampon in a container of organic non-sweetened yogurt that contains active cultures, then insert it into the vagina and leave for 30-40 minutes.

Other Yeast Infections:

* For external yeast infections in the folds of skin and male yeast infections, apply colloidal silver and a few drops of tea tree oil.

* For internal yeast infections, take two or more ounces daily of a superior colloidal silver product until the yeast infection is gone. Works well and quickly for Candida (see below).

* For best results keep the area moistened with the silver/tea tree oil for several minutes and repeat 2-3 times daily until the yeast infection is gone.

To keep yeast infections at bay, do one treatment of topical silver and tea tree oil every one to two weeks.

Candida

Many Candida species are members of gut flora in mammalian hosts including humans. If you want to get rid of Candida and remove it from the intestinal walls, take the following steps:

* Superior colloidal silver (such as that made by the Utopia Silver Supplement Company) will get rid of candida in short order. Be sure to take plenty (a couple of ounces or more per day) and it will only take a few days.

* Bentonite clay will literally pull the Candida off the intestinal walls.

* Coconut oil is very effective against Candida and is a wonderful addition to any healthy diet plan.

After you get rid of Candida, make a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil part of your daily diet/health plan, supplement with probiotics to make sure that beneficial flora flourishes in the gut, and occasionally take some colloidal silver (only a couple of teaspoons two or three times a week should be plenty) and use the bentonite clay and your Candida problems should be gone forever.

Note: most yeast infections occur in people whose immune systems are compromised and/or whose intestinal flora is out of balance. To keep yeast infections at bay it is important to build a strong immune system and keep your intestinal flora balanced. A good diet and healthy lifestyle will go a long way towards accomplishing those goals.

Use these natural remedies to fight and overcome superbugs

by Sarka-Jonae Miller

(NaturalNews) Nearly half of the meat sold in the United States has been found to contain methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MSRA), a strain that causes a staph infection but is resistant to antibiotic drugs. Antibiotic resistance caused by overusing antibiotics in people and animals creates superbugs, germs that cannot be killed with regular antibiotics. To combat antibiotic resistance, doctors try stronger meds. However, essential oils, garlic and vinegar can work as a natural MRSA treatment. These and other natural remedies for infections can not only combat a staph infection, but also the growing cycle of antibiotic resistance.

What is a MRSA infection?

The majority of antibiotics sold in the U.S. are given to animals in their feed to reduce spreading infections among livestock. The abundance of antibiotics in feed creates antibiotic resistance. In the case of the MRSA superbug, a staph strain went from humans into pigs where it was transformed into a germ with an antibiotic resistance, according to a study published in the mBio journal. The new antibiotic-resistant germ was then transmitted back into humans.

Around 25 percent of MRSA cases in humans are caused by this livestock-derived strain in the Netherlands. Failing to cook meat thoroughly and handling meat improperly create a greater risk of staph infection from MRSA in people, but a safer alternative is to avoid meat from conventionally raised animals. Organic farms do not use antibiotics.

What is antibiotic resistance?

People who get exposed to too many antibiotics can develop a resistance. Eating meat flesh containing antibiotics is one cause of antibiotic resistance. Doctors over-prescribing antibiotics is another. MRSA is a type of superbug called a gram-positive bacteria. The other type of superbug, gram-negative bacteria, are even more sophisticated and tougher organisms. K. pneumoniae (KPC), a germ linked to thousands of deaths, is an example of a gram-negative bacteria.

KPC is a pneumonia-causing superbug that has spread through the U.S., Hungary, Cyrpus, Austria and Italy. In early 20120, it was responsible for hundreds of deaths at a hospital in Greece. However, KPC is not the only superbug responsible for killing people. Around 25,000 people die in Europe every year because of antibiotic-resistant infections.

Natural remedies for MRSA treatment and other infections

How are doctors treating the infections caused by antibiotic resistant drugs? With more drugs. Greek doctors tried some of the strongest antibiotics available, from Merrem to Doribax, to fight KPC with little success. Instead of trying natural cures, many doctors turned to a 50-year-old medication called colistin, a drug so potent it can lead to kidney damage.

Natural infection remedies are less expensive and less damaging. They are likely more effective. An antibiotic comprises a single chemical component, usually, whereas essential oils comprise sometimes thousands of chemical components. These multiple components are challenging for bacteria to develop a resistance to and therefore a better choice for MRSA treatment and combating other superbugs.

Tea tree oil has a proven ability to fight a staph infection because it quickly kills staph bacteria. Tea tree oil is used as a topical application, going directly onto infected skin.

Another topical treatment for a staph infection is mixture of apple cider vinegar and baking soda. The two substances combine to make a paste that can be applied to a skin infection.

Garlic is another smart choice because it has a complex makeup, comprising 27 known active ingredients as well as dozens of other ingredients. Garlic is an effective MRSA treatment and helps fight other infections by boosting the body’s ability to kill off invading bacteria.

The best home remedies for eczema

by PF Louis
NaturalNews
June 26, 2012

(NaturalNews) Eczema is an irritating skin disease that ranges from chronic, itchy minor rashes to raging acute eczema flare-ups with open, oozing sores that require bandaging.

Eczema is often attributed to some sort of food or airborne allergy and can be minimized by determining the allergens and adjusting accordingly. Most eczema sufferers resort to using pharmaceuticals pills, creams, or steroids.

Of course, what many tend to ignore is that improving life style choices of diet and exercise does more to curb skin problems than topical or oral pharmaceuticals.

Eliminating chemically sprayed veggies and fruits, processed foods (even so-called “natural” cereals), junk foods, sugars, and artificial sweeteners goes a long way toward curing chronic, adverse health of any type, including skin conditions.

Minimizing stress and adding moderate exercise has also proven to be effective. Sweat can act as a trigger or exacerbate eczema. So avoid sweating whenever possible or shower immediately afterward sweating.

Increase your omega-3 intake with avocadoes, fresh salmon or tuna from unpolluted waters, eggs, organic raw nuts, and organic hemp, chia or flax seeds. Two tablespoons or more of flax seeds need to be ground with a coffee grinder just before consuming them.

While you’re working on a permanent cure, there are natural, homemade applications that help relieve symptoms without the dangerous side effects of prescribed or over the counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals.

Ten home remedies for symptomatic relief

(1) Organic cold pressed virgin coconut oil is better than those pricey creams that a dermatologist offers.

(2) Apply vitamin E oil, especially natural D-alpha tocopherol with mixed natural tocopherols. You can break open gel capsules for the oils. Avoiding synthetic vitamin E oil is tricky. So read labels closely, research, or ask a reliable sales person. Avoid vitamin E acetate.

(3) Make a strong brew of chamomile tea from fresh dried herbs by steeping for 15 minutes minimally. Apply to the eczema area with gauze for 20 minutes. This can be done more than once daily to relieve acute symptoms.

(4) Aloe vera gel, especially when mixed with vitamin E oil, is a useful symptom remedy. Gels from freshly cut aloe vera leaves are optimum.

(5) Ten drops of gentian tincture before each meal helps the digestive system eliminate toxins that can irritate the skin. Take as often as needed.

(6) Cut thin slices of a whole organic cucumber and allow the slices to soak for at least two hours. Filter the liquid and apply it with a clean cloth or gauze where needed.

(7) Place 50 grams of ground horsetail plant or herbs in a quart or liter of water and boil for 10 minutes, allow some cooling, then filter the liquid into your bath water for a 10 minute bath.

(8) Flower power: Make a tea of calendula, a marigold flower, with five drops of lavender essential oil added, then apply to the affected area twice a day until the irritation is relieved.

(9) Skin three organic carrots and boil them till they’re soft. Mash until you get a smooth paste, and then apply to affected areas for 15 minutes. Rinse with cool water when finished.

(10) Mix a tablespoon of medical or food grade ground juniper berry (3), with a tablespoon of sage and a tablespoon of thyme into a cup of boiling water, cover and let stand for five or more minutes. Drink the whole cup after your main meal.

Home Remedies for Headaches

by Mike Barret
NaturalSociety
April 20, 2012

Headaches are one of the most common ailments, striking virtually every single person – even on a daily basis. A bad headache can completely ruin your day, and in many cases escalate stress levels significantly. It may not seem like a serious health concern but when you do have a splitting headache, you will find it difficult to concentrate while physical functions will also be negatively affected. Instead of turning to pharmaceutical pain relievers, try utilizing some natural home remedies for headaches.

If you’re someone who regularly experiences headaches, you may find it difficult to resist the grabbing for an over the counter pain reliever. Before becoming overly dependent on these pharmaceuticals, you should consider using natural solutions. These could successfully alleviate the pain without ingesting pharmaceutical drugs that can cause adverse side-effects. Here are some home remedies for headaches.

For the first and easiest solution, try increasing water consumption. This type of pain can be caused by constricted blood vessels which prevent proper blood circulation and results to throbbing and pain. Water can resolve dehydration and improve blood circulation. In addition to guzzling down water once you begin to feel a headache, increase overall water consumption on a daily basis.

Interestingly, peppermint oil can also help in reducing headache pains. The same effect can also be achieved by using lavender oil. It is the combination of the soothing scents and environment-feel that allows you to relax and eventually lose the intense pain. To achieve faster results, you can also rub or gently massage your head and the areas surrounding the painful area. The stimulation will allow better blood circulation as well.

If you have been experiencing chronic headaches for days, then it is time to recognize how fruit can make one of many great home remedies for headaches. Eating apples in the morning for at least a week can give you impressive positive results, while creating a paste out of freshly pounded lemon fruit can also be the perfect solution. The lemon paste should be applied on the painful area. If your headache is caused by sinusitis, grab a pot and boil some ginger. Inhaling the vapor could be enough to help. In addition to relieving pain from headaches, ginger has also been shown to be a cancer fighter.

To every food there is a season, color, taste, element – Your organs know this, do you?

by JB Bardot
NaturalNews.com
August 16, 2012

(NaturalNews) If your mother had x-ray vision and eyes on the back of her head that saw everything, it’s probably because her body’s innate intelligence knew she ate a lots of red foods whose properties nourish the eyes and vision. The practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) teaches the Five Element theory, where each element relates to a season, flavor, color, organ, bodily system and other properties influencing human life. The body’s intuitive knowledge differentiates between foods not only by their vitamin and mineral content — but by their taste and color, and the season in which they provide their optimal nutritional support. This instinct affords your body a chance to vary its focus throughout the seasons, benefiting from specific foods that best support each organ system.

The Five elements

Below is a brief look at how each element interrelates with its season, color, organ, taste buds and primary emotion — all affecting human health and well-being.

· Wood — Spring — Green — Liver/Gall bladder — Sour — Anger
· Fire — Early summer — Red — Heart/Small intestine — Bitter — Happiness
· Earth — Late summer — Yellow — Spleen/Stomach — Thought — Sweet
· Metal — Autumn — White — Lungs/Large intestine — Spicy — Sorrow
· Water — Winter — Black — Kidneys/Bladder — Salty — Fear
