Scientists Create Computer That Reads Your Thoughts and Puts Them Into Words

by Andre Evans

Scientists have recently developed a complex process that allows them to seemingly decode and depict our brain activity as language.

Neuroscientists at University of California Berkeley used a technique where they monitored the brain activity of individuals as they listened to words being spoken. As the subjects listened to the words being spoken, a computer program analyzed brain activity in the temporal lobe, and how the brain interpreted and recreated specific words or sounds.

Using the information from this brain activity, scientists were able to ‘synthesize’ the actual sound, using the sounds themselves to determine what the words are. With more work and refining, this process could be used to effectively interpret thoughts of an individual and translate them into some understandable form of language.

This form of technology has a two-fold implication. On the one hand, this would prove to be incredibly useful for those with neurological diseases, physical impairment of speech (via smoking or otherwise) or brain damage, who have trouble speaking due to their injuries. This would effectively provide a medium for them to communicate effectively regardless of any impairment.

On the other hand, this has major negative implications for human relations and situations. If it were to progress to a true mind-reading level, it would threaten the integrity of human thought and individualism altogether. View the video below:

It’s reminiscent of some science fiction scenario, in which ‘thought crimes’ exist — the very nature of thinking about committing a crime or undesirable action. Man having the power to invade another man’s mind is hardly fair or acceptable, regardless of the circumstances. This influence could turn human relations into a controlled and predictable scheme where the individual would have no freedom of thought.

Thankfully, the process required the subjects to have electrodes implanted in their temporal lobes, which would not happen involuntarily. Besides that, it is still rudimentary and unrefined.

As the technology advances, it would be important to watch for its beneficial uses, but also make careful considerations about the nature and implications of such technology. This technology — while amazing — should be utilized only within reasonable bounds.

Sleeping pills linked to 460 percent increase in sudden death

by Jonathan Benson
Natural News
March 6, 2012

(NaturalNews) If you take pharmaceutical sleeping pills to help alleviate insomnia, you are very likely putting yourself at serious risk of developing cancer or even dying. A new study published in BMJ Open, an open-access journal that is part of the British Medical Journal family of publications, suggests that patients who take various benzodiazepines, non-benzodiazepines, barbiturates and sedative antihistamines for insomnia are 4.6 times more likely to die, on average, within two-and-a-half years than those who do not take these drugs.

Researchers from the Jackson Hole Center for Preventive Medicine in Wyoming and the Scripps Clinic Viterbi Family Sleep Center in California evaluated and analyzed data on more than 33,000 patients for their study, of which nearly one third were taking sleeping drugs like temazepam, zopiclone, zolpidem, or zaleplon for their insomnia. After adjusting for other risk factors, the team found that within roughly two years after beginning sleeping pill drug regimens, one in 16 sleeping pill patients died, while only one in 80 patients not taking these drugs died.

Depending on how often insomnia patients took their sleeping drugs, the overall death risk was as much as 530 percent higher than the death rate for non-users, which clearly illustrates a definitive and causal link between sleeping pills and increased mortality. And besides having an increased risk of suffering sudden death, sleeping pill users were also found to have a roughly 35 percent elevated risk of developing cancer compared to non-users as well.

“The meager benefits of hypnotics, as critically reviewed by groups without financial interest, would not justify substantial risks,” said the researchers. “Rough order-of-magnitude estimates at the end of the supplemental files suggest that in 2010, hypnotics (sleeping pills) may have been associated with 320,000 to 507,000 excess deaths in the USA alone.”

While patients with insomnia have a number of alternative treatment options available at their disposal that do not involve dangerous hypnotic drugs, many of them are unaware of this. A 2006 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, for instance, found that simple cognitive behavior therapy is more effective than hypnotic drugs at alleviating insomnia (http://www.naturalnews.com/019492.html).

There are also a number of dietary and herbal remedies that can help remedy sleeping problems, including valerian root, peppermint, chamomile, passionflower, lavender, the amino acid L-glutamine, 5-hydroxytryptophan, and the hormone melatonin, to name just a few (http://www.naturalnews.com/025065_sleep_natural_herb.html).

SaneVax open letter to educators worldwide: Watch for side effects of HPV vaccines

Dees Illustration

by Rosemary Mathis, Vice President of Victim Support, SANE VAX, INC.
Natural News
January 31, 2012

(NaturalNews) No one can disagree with the fact that children are the future of the world. Without children, there would be no future. As educators you are responsible for not only teaching young minds, but also for the children’s physical health and well-being for several hours each day.

The SaneVax team knows you take your position seriously. Since the adverse events to be expected after HPV vaccine administration, (GardasilR, CervarixR, or Silgard) are not widely published, we would like to provide you with a list of potential health problems your students may experience after administration of HPV vaccines.

Although the manufacturers say these adverse events are rare, in one clinical trial 73.3% of the trial participants experienced new medical conditions after vaccination. Many of them were quite serious. Any new medical condition experienced after vaccination should be considered a potential adverse effect until proven otherwise.

These conditions are quite frequently attributed to causes other than vaccination; hence delaying necessary medical care. This is particularly true of HPV vaccinations, because the side effects may not show up for months.

The most common side effects of HPV vaccines are pain, swelling, itching, bruising and redness at the injection site, headache, fever, nausea, dizziness, vomiting and fainting.
The following side effects are less common, but more dangerous:

*Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath or wheezing (bronco spasm)
*Hives and/or rash
*Swollen glands (neck, armpit, or groin)
*Joint, leg, or chest pain
*Unusual tiredness, weakness, lethargy, brain fog, or confusion
*Chills
*Generally feeling unwell
*Aching muscles and/or muscle weakness
*Difficulty keeping food down, vomiting or stomach ache
*Seizures
*Shortness of breath
*Chest pain
*Bad stomach pain
*Skin infection
*Bleeding or bruising more easily than normal

This list is by no means comprehensive; it is taken directly from HPV patient Product Information inserts. Many young girls from around the world have experienced many more severe events after HPV vaccination. For the health and safety of the children in your care, please be alert to any changes in your student’s health and behavior post-vaccination.

Should a student experience any of the less common side effect symptoms even months after vaccination, please alert their parents to the possibility that the student may be exhibiting a vaccine reaction, so they can consult their physician for proper medical care.

The SaneVax team would like to thank you for taking care of and watching out for the health and well-being of the students throughout the world.

Canadian Senate Passes Harsh Crime Bill

by Phillip Smith

The Canadian Senate Thursday night gave its approval to a government package of crime measures that include a number of harsh provisions, including mandatory minimum prison sentences for growing as few as six marijuana plants. The bill, C-10, the Safe Streets and Communities Act, now heads back to the House of Commons for final approval.

The bill has already passed the House, but members will have to approve amendments adopted by the Senate that more clearly define terrorist activities and how victims of terrorism can seek compensation from groups or states that support terrorism.Passage in the Senate came after ruling Conservatives used their majority to limit debateon the measure to six hours. Liberals objected vociferously, but in vain. The only Conservative to vote against limiting debate was Sen. Pierre Claude Nolin, a long-time advocate of marijuana and other drug law reforms.”Canadians are expecting us to pass this,” said Conservative Sen. Claude Carignan, explaining that the rush to passage was necessary because the government had promised to pass the legislation within a hundred days of taking office. “The best way to ensure the population is not jaded when it comes to politics is to keep our promises.”

Liberals argued that there was enough opposition to the bill that every senator deserved to be heard on the issue, but that argument didn’t fly with the Conservative majority.

“There is no excuse for what this chamber is about to do,” said Liberal Sen. Joan Fraser. “We should be ashamed of ourselves.”

The Senate vote came despite heated opposition, both from within Canada, where various polls show consistent majority support for marijuana legalization, and internationally. The Global Commission on Drug Policy this week urged Parliament not to pass the bill, while Law Enforcement Against Prohibition also urged the Conservatives to reconsider.

While the bill is now almost assured of final passage, opponents have vowed to carry on the fight in the courts. Once the bill becomes law and goes into effect, look for quick challenges to its constitutionality under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

February 29, 2012

If chemtrails are a hoax or a conspiracy then it’s pulling in a lot of credible people. On January 11, 2012 the Fairfax City Council adopted Resolution No. 12-07 , “a Resolution of the Town Council of Fairfax declaring Fairfax a Chemtrail-Free Zone.” Understand, this is an instance of an American city government weighing in on the subject of chemtrails, acknowledging their existence and letting it be known they don’t want spraying over their city. This is not made-up. You can see their Resolution on their website.
