Americans’ brains being fried by cell towers: New scientific evidence reveals shocking extent of electropollution damage
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Natural News
Mar 26, 2014
(NaturalNews) Exposure to cell phone towers alters brain function in alarming ways, causing a lack of concentration, irritability, difficulty sleeping and lack of appetite. That’s the conclusion of a new study just published by the British Medical Journal.(1)
The study, authored by Professor Enrique A Navarro, concluded that the severity of such symptoms directly correlated to cell tower exposure levels. In other words, the closer a person lives to a cell tower, the greater the severity of their symptoms. This was true regardless of race, income level and other demographics.
Cell towers, of course, broadcast and receive electromagnetic switching signals. Human biology — and the brain in particular — relies on electro-biochemical pathways for healthy function. Many scientists have long suspected that chronic exposure to low levels of EMF pollution (electropollution) may interfere with healthy functioning of the brain and body. This latest research adds yet more support to that alarming idea.
It’s not your imagination: Electromagnetic hypersensitivity is real
Electromagnetic hypersensitivity has long been dismissed as non-existent by some doctors and industry-funded scientists. After all, if EMF pollution from cell towers really does harm public health, then the implications are truly massive, both economically and in terms of human suffering.
But electromagnetic hypersensitivity is a genuine phenomenon. People are not “inventing” side effects or symptoms. As Navarro writes in the study:
The term electromagnetic hypersensitivity has been recently introduced in discussions attributing symptoms to exposure to EMFs. A review of this topic in 2010 found that 8 of the 10 studies evaluated through PubMed had reported increased prevalence of adverse neurobehavioral symptoms or cancer in populations living at distances < 500 m from [cell phone towers].
Importantly, all these symptoms were recorded in people living near cell phone towers whose broadcast signal strength meets current safety guidelines. As the study author points out, this most likely means current government guidelines on cell phone towers are inadequate to protect the public. Revising such guidelines could have drastic implications for the nationwide telecommunications infrastructure.
By the way, people who live fewer than 500 meters from cell phone towers appear to be especially at risk of electromagnetic interference with brain function. Because electropollution strength is determined by the inverse square of the distance, a person who moves twice as close to a cell tower experiences four times the radiation.
190,000 cell phone towers and growing
There are currently over 190,000 cell phone towers across the United States.(2)
Their typical “maximum range” is over 21 miles, meaning their electromagnetic pollution extends in a sphere with a radius of over 21 miles. (In reality, this pollution extends indefinitely, but the intensity of it drops off with the square of the distance.)
The following map shows AT&T coverage areas in orange. If you live inside an orange area, you are currently exposed to cell tower radiation.

People who live within range of two or more cell phone towers experience electropollution from all the towers within a range of 21 miles. This electropollution effect is cumulative.
It is not known how many Americans live within 21 miles of at least one cell tower, but given that over half the U.S. population lives in urban areas, it’s safe to assume that at least 150 million — and more likely close to 300 million — Americans are exposed to EMF electropollution from cell towers.
Wi-Fi-allergic Americans flock to West Virginia town where Wi-Fi is banned
The Watchers
Mar 17, 2014
Scores of people who believe that continual exposure to wireless signals have made them ill have begun streaming to a small town in West Virginia where Wi-Fi has been banned.
According to Britain’s Daily Mail, these “Wi-Fi refugees” are making the move to Green Bank, a tiny place located inside the U.S. National Radio Quiet Zone, established by the FCC in November 1958 to “minimize possible harmful interference to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory” located there, according to the observatory’s website.
Many of those trekking to Green Bank complain of painful symptoms when they are near cell phones or any device with Wi-Fi, two creations that define modern technology. Burning skin, chest pains and acute headaches are among the most common complaints.
Those suffering symptoms, which scientists have labeled “electromagnetic hypersensitivity” (EHS), say that the move to Green Bank has led to a dramatic easing of their condition.
‘I used to be sick all the time’
Dozens have made the move to the tiny West Virginia enclave, so as to avoid cell phones, wireless hotspots and TV and radio transmissions. As of last year, the British paper reported, 36 people claiming symptoms of the condition had moved there.
One of them, Diane Schou, came nearly 1,000 miles, from her former home in Iowa. She joined a town with a population of only 147 people.
“I used to be sick all the time when I lived in Iowa. I was in constant pain,” she told the Mail. “If anyone came near me with a cell phone or a device with Wi-Fi I would be in agony.
“But since I’ve moved to Green Banks the illnesses have cleared up,” she said.
More from the Mail:
Green Bank, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, falls in the middle of the 13,000 square mile National Radio Quiet Zone.
Here, mobile phones, radio and TV transmitters and Wi-Fi are forbidden to prevent interference with one of the world’s largest radio telescopes.
The National Radio Astronomy Observatory telescope is the world’s largest fully steerable radio telescope.
The paper said that almost 4 percent of populations in the U.S. and the UK could be affected with some degree of EHS.
According to a World Health Organization website post titled “Electromagnetic fields and public health,” the problem has gotten worse as more societies industrialize and advance their technology. As for physical findings:
EHS is characterized by a variety of non-specific symptoms, which afflicted individuals attribute to exposure to [electromagnetic fields]. The symptoms most commonly experienced include dermatological symptoms (redness, tingling, and burning sensations) as well as neurasthenic and vegetative symptoms (fatigue, tiredness, concentration difficulties, dizziness, nausea, heart palpitation, and digestive disturbances).
WHO says these symptoms are not part of any “recognized syndrome” or condition, but the Mail reports that Sweden has nonetheless recognized EHS as a legitimate condition — and sufferers there can claim some degree of public benefits assistance the same as if they had other disabilities. Sweden is the only country to have recognized EHS as real.
Over 500 Lantern Fish & Deep Sea Squid Found Dead on Hawaii Shores

Mainstream media in Hawaii, via the Star Advertiser, has reported that between 500 and 800 squid and lantern fish were found dead or close to dead in the Nawiliwili Harbor area of Hawaii on Monday, January 27, prompting both state and federal officials to investigate the cause of their die off. What they won’t come right out and tell you is that this is just one of the many species possibly dying from the radioactive fallout of Fukushima. The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) says that lantern fish are typically found in the very deep ocean, and they ‘aren’t sure’ why they are showing up dead on Hawaii’s shores.
The public is being asked to look for more dying lantern fish and squid on nearby beaches and to report it to the Eyes of the Reef Network.
Scientists have already linked seal deaths in Alaska with Fukushima radiation – they suffered skim lesions, hair loss, and lethargy, and many just didn’t make it at all. Bald eagles, sea stars, small fish and even plankton are showing up dead and dying too.

Toll of U.S. Sailors Devastated by Fukushima Radiation Continues to Climb

U.S. sailors irradiated while delivering humanitarian help near the stricken Fukushima nuke say their health has been devastated.
by Harvey Wasserman
Common Dreams
Jan 19, 2014
The roll call of U.S. sailors who say their health was devastated when they were irradiated while delivering humanitarian help near the stricken Fukushima nuke is continuing to soar.
So many have come forward that the progress of their federal class action lawsuit has been delayed.
Bay area lawyer Charles Bonner says a re-filing will wait until early February to accommodate a constant influx of sailors from the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan and other American ships.
Within a day of Fukushima One’s March 11, 2011, melt-down, American “first responders” were drenched in radioactive fallout. In the midst of a driving snow storm, sailors reported a cloud of warm air with a metallic taste that poured over the Reagan.
Then-Prime Minister Naoto Kan, at the time a nuclear supporter, says “the first meltdown occurred five hours after the earthquake.” The lawsuit charges that Tokyo Electric Power knew large quantities of radiation were pouring into the air and water, but said nothing to the Navy or the public.
Had the Navy known, says Bonner, it could have moved its ships out of harm’s way. But some sailors actually jumped into the ocean just offshore to pull victims to safety. Others worked 18-hour shifts in the open air through a four-day mission, re-fueling and repairing helicopters, loading them with vital supplies and much more. All were drinking and bathing in desalinated water that had been severely contaminated by radioactive fallout and runoff.
Then Reagan crew members were enveloped in a warm cloud. “Hey,” joked sailor Lindsay Cooper at the time. “It’s radioactive snow.”
The metallic taste that came with it parallels the ones reported by the airmen who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, and by Pennsylvania residents downwind from the 1979 meltdown at Three Mile Island.
When it did leave the Fukushima area, the Reagan was so radioactive it was refused port entry in Japan, South Korea and Guam. It’s currently docked in San Diego.
