PODCAST — Radio 3Fourteen – Warren Farrell – The Myth of Male Power

Radio 3Fourteen
Jul 23, 2014

Dr. Warren Farrell is the author of 7 books on men’s and women’s issues, probably best known for The Myth of Male Power plus Why Men Are The Way They Are. His books create links between self-help and legislative solutions to male-female and family problems such as the disenfranchisement of dads after divorce. He has served on the boards of four national men’s and fathers’ organizations and he is the only man in the US to ever have been elected three times to the Board of Directors of the National Organization for Women. Warren has taught at the university level in five disciplines. He’s been featured on numerous mainstream TV shows and publications. Dr. Farrell is currently the Chair of the Commission to Create a White House Council on Boys to Men. We’ll discuss the myth of male power and question the image of male as oppressor. Just who is the worst treated demographic today? Warren responds to the feminist claim, “we need to level the playing field and have our chance because men have had their day.” We’ll have an interesting conversation about anti-male gender studies courses, how political correctness affects men and discuss the portrayal of men in entertainment, media and education. Also, we question the agenda to feminize males. Later, Warren talks about the harm of boys growing up without their father. He’ll also share his thoughts on male circumcision. At the end, Farrell explains his view of a healthy relationship dynamic between a man and a woman.

VIDEO — The End of Oppression – Part 2: The Game

Josie Outlaw
Jul 31, 2014

“The End of Oppression” is a six-part series of videos which show what it will take for humanity to finally outgrow and escape its long history of violence and oppression.

[The End of Oppression – Part 1: The Problem]

Part Two (“The Game”) shows how tyrants use the game called “politics” to legitimize violent domination and to deceive decent people into advocating their own subjugation and enslavement.

A retired U.S Air Force veteran by the name of Ross McNutt owns a company called Persistent Surveillance Systems (PSS) based out of Ohio USA.

On the PSS website it writes, “Persistent Surveillance Systems provides Wide-Area Surveillance Sensors and Services that enable continuous, second-by-second video monitoring of a city-sized area. Because of the very high-resolution nature of PSS’s sensors (up to 200 megapixels), vehicle and pedestrian activity can be tracked over a 16 square-mile area. If an event-of-interest happens within this area (a murder, for example), users can rewind the event to identify the perpetrator’s place-of-origin, meeting locations, accomplices, driving routes, and final destination. PSS’s HAWKEYE sensor has been used in countless major crime investigations, and has been used to backtrack criminals for officers to apprehend.”

Video Report from LeakSourceNews below:

The operation involves flying a small civilian aircraft high in the sky (10,000 feet) with cameras pointed at desired locations.  There are three types of cameras or sensors available for wide range surveillance from sky:

600 million Apple devices contain secret backdoors, researcher claims — video included

A security researcher considered to be among the foremost experts in his field says that more than a half-billion mobile devices running Apple’s latest iOS operating system contain secret backdoors.

Jonathan Zdziarski, also known by his online alias “NerveGas,” told the audience attending his Friday morning presentation at the Hackers on Planet Earth conference in New York City that around 600 million Apple devices, including iPhones and tablets, contain hidden features that allow data to be surreptitiously slurped from those devices.

During Zdziarski’s HOPE presentation, “Identifying Backdoors, Attack Points and Surveillance Mechanisms in iOS Devices,” the researcher revealed that several undocumented forensic services are installed on every new iPhone and iPad, making it easier that ever for a third-party to pull data from those devices in order to compromise a target and take hold of their personal information, including pictures, text messages, voice recordings and more.

Among the hidden functions running on iOS devices, Zdziarski said, are programs called “pcapd,” “file_relay” and “file_relay.” If used properly, he added, those programs can allow anyone with the right means and methodology to pull staggering amounts of data from a targeted phone, even when the rightful owner suspects the device is sufficiently locked.

Zdziarski has previously exploited older versions of the iOS operating system and authored several books on mobile security. Even after raising multiple questions with Apple, however, he said he has yet to figure out why, exactly, the tech giant ships iOS devices with programs that appear to do nothing other than leak digital data.

According to the slides Zdziarski presented during Friday’s talk, there’s little reason to believe the functions are used to run diagnostics or help developers.

Most services are not referenced by any known Apple software,” one slide says in part, and “the raw format of the data makes it impossible to put data back onto the phone, making useless for Genius Bar or carrier tech purposes.”

“The personal nature of the data makes it very unlikely as a debugging mechanism,” he added.

According to the researcher, evidence of the mysterious programs raises more questions than it does answers.

“Why is there a packet sniffer running on 600 million personal iOS devices instead of moved to the developer mount?” he asked in one slide. “Why are there undocumented services that bypass user backup encryption that dump mass amounts of personal data from the phone? Why is most of my user data still not encrypted with the PIN or passphrase, enabling the invasion of my personal privacy by YOU?”

“Apple really needs to step up and explain what these services are doing,” Zdziarski told Ars Technia on Monday after his HOPE presentation was hailed over the weekend by the conference’s attendees as a highlight of the three-day event. “I can’t come up with a better word than ‘backdoor’ to describe file relay, but I’m willing to listen to whatever other explanation Apple has. At the end of the day, though, there’s a lot of insecure stuff running on the phone giving up a lot of data that should never be given up. Apple really needs to fix that.”

Indeed, Apple responded on late Tuesday by saying that the tree functions in question are “diagnostic capabilities to help enterprise IT departments, developers and AppleCare troubleshoot issues.”

“Apple has, in a traditional sense, admitted to having back doors on the device specifically for their own use,” Zdziarski responded quickly on his blog. “Perhaps people misunderstand the term ‘back door’ due to the stigma Hollywood has given them, but I have never accused these ‘hidden access methods’ as being intended for anything malicious, and I’ve made repeated statements that I haven’t accused Apple of working with NSA. That doesn’t mean, however that the government can’t take advantage of back doors to access the same information. What does concern me is that Apple appears to be completely misleading about some of these (especially file relay), and not addressing the issues I raised on others.”

“I give Apple credit for acknowledging these services, and at least trying to give an answer to people who want to know why these services are there – prior to this, there was no documentation about file relay whatsoever, or its 44 data services to copy off personal data. They appear to be misleading about its capabilities, however, in downplaying them, and this concerns me,” he added.

On Apple’s part, the company said they have “never worked with any government agency from any country to create a backdoor in any of our products of services.”

Want some pot with your coffee buzz? Startup infuses coffee with marijuana

by PF Louis

Jun 13, 2014

(NaturalNews) The latest java trend is coffee meets cannabis. The most recent buzz is a cannabis-infused beverage going mainstream. Mirth Provisions, a company based in Washington State, is launching a new and innovative line of cannabis-infused (extract), cold-brewed coffee under the “Legal” label, which underscores the fact that their cannabis-spiked coffee will be marketed exclusively in states where marijuana is legal.

Currently, only Colorado and Washington State have legalized recreational marijuana, although medical marijuana is legal in 22 states and decriminalized in approximately 20. How much will a bottle cost? Here’s the rub. Estimates are that an 11.5-ounce bottle will cost somewhere between $9 and $11. Definitely not for those on a budget.

Mirth was created by Adam Stites, 34, a former e-commerce firm manager turned entrepreneur. The expected “Legal” roll-out (minus glitches) is July 2014.

Consumers can either choose “Legal” straight-up, cold-brew coffee with cannabis or opt for the works: coffee with cannabis, cream and sugar. Still, there may be one legal drawback: Drinking “Legal” and driving may be against the law.

Legal’s details

In case you’re wondering, each bottle contains about 20 milligrams of THC. As far as THC dosages go, 20 milligrams is considered on the low side. Typically, cannabis-infused “medibles” contain a tenth of a gram, or 100 milligrams, or more of THC per serving.

But Stites feels that the THC level is just right for his customer base. He quipped, “I’m 6ft 4in and 205 pounds, and 20mg is sufficient for me, especially when it’s brewed with coffee.”

According to Fox News, “Stites told My Northwest that each bottle will contain about 20 milligrams of THC, enough to create ‘an alert, creative, high,’ but not too much as to make it an unpleasant experience, ‘especially for people that are just getting into marijuana.'”

Stites also told My Northwest that his cannabis coffee drink is “the wake and bake drink.”

Coffee is just the beginning. Stites intends to extend his quirky offerings by eventually introducing sparkling, cannabis-infused sodas in assorted fruit flavors like trendy pomegranate and lemon ginger.

Nothing new under the sun

In the West, the practice of combining cannabis and coffee historically originated from the cafes and coffee houses of Europe. A favored haunt of prominent French artists and writers was the “infamous Club des Hachichins (Club of the Hashish-Eaters) in the mid-1800s,” High Times reported.

These infamous, rather bohemian, gatherings were laced with philosophical talks lasting into the wee hours, with bottomless cups of coffee served with crumbled hashish.

The custom of mixing coffee and cannabis is still popular in select circles. Savvy cannabis and coffee drinkers have described the effect created by this dynamic duo as “an alert but relaxed state conducive to creative work.”

Even today, comedians like Rob Cantrell make jokes about “waking and baking” with coffee and weed, also known as a “Hippie Speedball.”

Unfortunately, “Legal” doesn’t measure up health-wise. Except for the cannabis, none of the ingredients are organic. The coffee, sugar and cream options all contain a dollop of white sugar that could be GMO. White sugar is not a good choice under any circumstances. The sweetened coffee beverage may contain rBGH-laced, factory-farmed cream.

Also, it’s fairly common knowledge that non-organic coffee beans are heavily sprayed with pesticides. Sure, non-organic “homegrown” cannabis will deliver the buzz, but will it deliver the full array of scientifically proven cannabis and coffee health benefits?

Perhaps cannabis aficionados will forgo health concerns for a caffeine buzz and a mildly euphoric high. The good news is that medical marijuana patients are increasingly demanding organic marijuana over cheaper, conventionally grown weed.

According to a survey of marijuana patients by editors of Medical Marijuana Journal Business Daily, 43% of medical marijuana patients in California, Washington and Colorado say organic cannabis meds are critical.

Venezuelan Opposition Coalition Leader Resigns amid Divisions

Ewan Robertson (VA) : The general secretary of the opposition Democratic Unity Table (MUD) coalition, Ramon Aveledo, announced his resignation today.

Aveledo’s decision takes place as opposition parties hold closed door meetings to try and overcome internal differences. The resignation is understood to have taken many opposition figures off guard.

“I’m not leaving [the MUD], I’m just changing battle post,” said the lawyer and professor, who took up the job in 2009. No names have yet been put forward for his replacement.

Under Aveledo’s tenure, the opposition managed to hold internal primary elections and put forward a single presidential candidate, Henrique Capriles, in the presidential elections of October 2012 and April 2013. Capriles lost to Hugo Chavez, and then narrowly to Nicolas Maduro, on those occasions.

The opposition split again this year after a hard-line faction launched a strategy of protests and street barricades dubbed “La Salida (The Exit)”, which demanded Nicolas Maduro’s exit from office. The wave of unrest left 43 dead and hundreds injured. During this time Aveledo and some other opposition figures participated in dialogue talks with the government, and were criticised by hard-liners for doing so.

Aveledo indicated in his resignation speech that his exit was intended to help the process of re-unification in the opposition coalition.

A spokesperson of the Popular Will (VP) party – whose leader Leopoldo Lopez led the unrest movement and is currently under trail for alleged incitement to violence – welcomed Aveledo’s resignation as “positive” and “an opportunity to form [a coalition] that serves the country”.

However several more moderate opposition parties disagreed with Aveledo’s decision. The leader of the New Time (UNT) party said the resignation was “unnecessary”, while a spokesperson for Democratic Action (AD) blamed the Salida strategy for the situation.

The vice president of the governing United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, claimed the opposition coalition was in disarray.

“The MUD is beyond repair, it is in total loss…there’s no way something new can emerge from its ashes,” he said.
