VIDEO — Chossudovsky: Russia, Ukraine, and the New World Order

Global Research TV
May 26, 2014

Press TV has conducted an interview with Michel Chossudovsky with the Center for Research on Globalization, about a statement by Vladimir Putin that the US-led world order has failed.

The following is an approximate transcript of the interview.

Press TV: What do you think about what Vladimir Putin has said? Is that a sign that the US has now not reached its goals on a variety of issues and topics around the world and therefore making the Russian president come out with the statement?

Chossudovsky: Of course this statement by the Russian President is a very timely statement because it is made prior to the holding of elections in Ukraine. But I think what we should understand is that the United States and its NATO allies are involved in acts of destabilization simultaneously in several regions of the world.

The strategy is similar. It consists in covert support to extremist groups. In some cases, it’s al-Qaeda as in Syria, in Nigeria it’s Boko Haram which is also … affiliated to al-Qaeda and known to have, to be supported by Western intelligence.

In Ukraine there is support which goes back in fact to the late 40s under the Truman administration to the neo-Nazi groups and paramilitary which are followers of Stepan Bandera and quite deliberately they are self-proclaimed Nazis and they integrate the government.

Then, the question we have to ask ourselves is it possible under those circumstances with an illegal government which came to power in a coup, in a violent coup, is it possible to organize elections when in fact the east and southeast of the country have in fact refused and said no to the coup leaders in Kiev.

Press TV: Quickly if you can, Michel Chossudovsky, one of the things that came out of this conference that was held over in China was this alliance that the Chinese President came out, a security alliance which he mentioned China, Russia and Iran. Are we seeing therefore that this is going to decrease the power and dominance of the US and some as you mentioned NATO allies in the world?

Chossudovsky: This alliance between China, Russia and Iran is nothing new. It’s part of the Shanghai Cooperation Agreement. Although Iran is not a formal member but it is an observer. But the alliance between Russia and China has an old history to it. It certainly is a response to the US-NATO agenda of expansion. It also is characterized as we’ve seen recently in the signing of a major agreement to supply China with natural gas.

That I should say, you either, but it has been formalized, and I think it’s a message to the West that there are other alternatives as far as the new world order is concerned and that a unipolar world dominated by the United States militarily and economically is not necessarily an avenue for everybody in the world, and of course it is a derogation of sovereignty and this new world order is being as I mentioned is being imposed not only through military means and covert operations, but also through economic warfare namely financial destabilization, speculation, institutionalized speculation against national currencies, sanctions regime.

But even that response on the part of the West implies certain contradictions because we now see that one of major victims of the sanctions regime on the Russian Federation is in fact the European Union which relies heavily on the supply of Russian gas, also as part of agreements signed between the European Union and the Russian Federation.

In wake of Ukraine elections, Ukrainian air force launches strike on rebel-held airport

By End the Lie

While the new president-elect of Ukraine promised on Monday to bring an end to the pro-Russia separatist movement in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian air force launched strikes on a rebel-held airport in Donetsk.

Petro Poroshenko, the new president, said he is willing to begin talks with Moscow and wants to negotiate an end to the insurgency, according to the Associated Press. Yet he also said he rejected negotiations with “bandits,” referring to the insurgents in the east.

The offer for talks was quickly welcomed by Russian officials, who have said they are ready to hold direct talks with the new president.

Still, he described the separatists as “Somali pirates” and the Ukrainian military launched attacks from fighter jets and military helicopters against the rebels in the airport in Donetsk.

Many flights to and from the airport were canceled or delayed and access was blocked by police, according to AP. Sustained artillery and gun fire was heard as dense black smoke rose from the airport and jets and helicopters flew overhead.

Paratroopers were also involved in the attack, according to Reuters.

The airstrike was launched by the military after they gave the separatists an ultimatum to lay down their weapons, which they ignored, according to Vladislav Seleznyov, a spokesman for Kiev’s anti-terrorist operation.

VIDEO — Watched, Harassed, Kicked Out, & Arrested. Bilderberg 2014 Begins.

Brave The World
May 27, 2014

We were in the Marriott Hotel lobby. Luke Rudkowski went to confront the Bilderberberg organizers. Paul Joseph Watson of Infowars, Luke, and I, were then immediately ordered to delete all our footage.

The police were called. Paul and I left like we were asked although we had rooms at the hotel. Luke and Dan were right behind us, too heading for the door. We later found out that Luke and Dan Dicks were arrested.

Charlie of the Guardian and his wife Hannah (an organizer for the protest) who we were having drinks with earlier were then tracked down and evacuated from their rooms because they were seen speaking to us…they called us and told us we too were not allowed to return. They were told that the hotel was simply “taking orders” from the secret service.

Earlier, Charlie and Hannah were sat near the Bilderberg organizers and heard them talking to the security. The security told the organizers that they would be “protected.” From what? Camera phones?

These people decide our future. Whatever they are deciding, they do not wish us to know. Yet.

VIDEO — 3 civilians killed in shelling of Slavyansk residential area

RT

At least three civilians have reportedly been killed and several wounded when the Ukrainian Army launched a mortar attack on the town of Slavyansk in eastern Ukraine. One of the shells fell near a local teachers college, according to Ridus news portal.

Residential blocks were ruined as a result of the assault by Kiev’s forces on Monday, the Ridus correspondent reported from the scene. At least two apartment blocks were damaged and “at least two people – a man and a woman – were killed,” the reporter said.

We came up to look at the man but he was already dead. A shell had fallen right next to a 9-storey apartment block, all the glass was out. The man’s head was bleeding, his arms and legs were broken. When we went further, we found a dead woman near a teachers college, a shell hit there too,” a local told RT, adding that after that a third man was found nearby.

The woman was identified as Olga Prokhorenko, 60, Ridus news portal writes. The published photo depicts a woman lying on the grass with a large blood stain on her back.

For the first time in a month and a half of my staying in the south-east [of Ukraine], I see real panic among the people. They’ve been running out of their homes in Slavyansk with their children, half-dressed,” reporter Andrey Krasnoshchyokov tweeted.

Still from Ruptly video

The journalist did not rule out that the military began firing in response to artillery shooting by forces of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk.

It’s unknown who started first,” he wrote.

Roman, a witness who was at the site, told RT that there were “around six or eight shell craters” near the college where the woman’s body was found.

There were many wounded. About ten people,” he added.

RIA Novosti, citing local self-defense, reports of gunfights on the outskirts of Slavyansk, in the villages of Vostochny, Semyonovka and Slavkurort. Ukrainian army launched several artillery salvos from the mountain of Karachun near the town.

Meanwhile, clashes continue in Donetsk spilling over from the airport to the city center. The Mayor of Donetsk called on residents not to leave their homes.

The situation in Donetsk remains tense. Today there have been armed clashes between Ukraine’s artillery units and supporters of the People’s Republic of Donetsk,” Aleksandr Lukyanchenko said in a televised address, adding that there are victims among civilians.

Donetsk airport has been shut down following fighting between Kiev forces and self-defense squads earlier on Monday.

Clashes in Donetsk and Slavyansk come after the early results of the elections in Ukraine were announced.

Ukraine’s likely president-elect, Petro Poroshenko, announced Monday that Kiev is not going to stop the military operation in the east of Ukraine, neither will it hold negotiations with armed people.

They don’t want to talk to anyone,” he told a media conference.

Poroshenko said the “anti-terrorist” operation in the south-eastern regions will be held in a more efficient way, with soldiers getting better ammo and their lives and health being insured.
