VIDEO — Nuclear Regulatory Commission Strips Whistleblower Protection
Global Research TV
November 14, 2013
In sworn testimony in Monroe, Michigan, the NRC admitted that it has stripped whistleblower protection from the licensing of new nuclear power plants.
By flip-flopping on what it means to be an applicant, the whistleblowers who are truly looking to protect the public health and safety are having their lives and livelihoods jeopardized.
Fairewinds Chief Engineer Arnie Gundersen discusses what this means as utilities look for short cuts and cheaper ways to build new nukes.

At least six people were killed and dozens more injured in the US state of Illinois as tornadoes swept through Midwestern states, destroying houses and leaving hundreds of thousands without power.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), at least 10 tornadoes touched down in Illinois. Many more ripped through other Midwest states. Forecasters say up to 53 million people could be affected.

“We obviously have a very dangerous situation on our hands and it’s just getting started,” NWS deputy director Laura Furgione told reporters earlier Sunday.
Four fatalities were reported by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. Two more were reported by the Washington County Coroner.
A spokewoman at St. Francis Medical Center near Washington, Ill. said the hospital was treating at least 37 patients in the emergency room.

Tropical Cyclone Podul approached the coast of Vietnam on Thursday night and weakened to a tropical depression shortly before making landfall on Friday, November 15, 2013. Podul dumped heavy rains across central regions of Vietnam on Friday and by latest reports flooding has killed at least 31 people, with nice others missing.
As much as 700 mm of rain fell in 24 hours between November 14 and 15 in Quang Ngai province. Other areas, particularly the central provinces, saw between 300 mm and 600 mm.
“We are experiencing the worst-ever floods as heavy rains have overflowed several water reservoirs and dams in our province,” Le Huu Loc, the chairman of Binh Dinh province, said in a statement Sunday.
Flood waters rose quickly after 15 hydro power plants opened their sluice gates to release water in reservoir protection. This caused flood waters to rose above a previous peak measured in 1999. In some villages water rose to nearly three meters.

VIDEO — ‘Fragguccino’ blows up airport security theater
NWO Truth
November 16, 2013
In a bit less than eight minutes, a YouTube contributor demonstrated how futile the “no liquids” security policy in airports may be.
In a video on YouTube, contributor Evan “treefort” Booth at Terminal Cornucopia takes common items found in most airport terminals at retail kiosks and creates an explosive from them.
Using a stainless steel coffee mug, a Li-ion AA battery, a small canister of Axe Body Spray, a condom, and a bottle of water, the poster creates a “Fragguccino” that explodes when thrown. (Read more…) Water contained in the condom breaks, allowing the battery to heat up enough inside the mug to ignite the pressurized body spray canister.
Booth, a self-described “independent security researcher,” presented the video as an example of research into the possibility of common items sold in airports after the security screening used to build lethal weapons. “All of these findings have been reported to the Department of Homeland Security (TSA) to help them better detect these types of threats,” Booth wrote on his site.

An American drone has malfunctioned and crashed into a guided missile cruiser off the coast of Southern California, causing two injuries, say officials. The incident happened while the vessel was testing a combat weapons system.
Lt. Lenaya Rotklein of the US Third Fleet told AP the two sailors injured in the crash were being treated for minor burns. The remotely-controlled craft reportedly veered out of control during an operation to test the USS Chancellorsville’s combat weapons system on Saturday afternoon. Rotklein said the drone was being used to test the ship’s radar.
The guided missile carrier is now heading back to the San Diego Naval Base, where officials will assess the extent of the damage. In response to the accident, the Navy says it is opening an investigation to examine the possible causes.
This is the second drone crash to occur this week in the US after an unmanned craft malfunctioned and came down over Lake Ontario on Tuesday, prompting the suspension of all drone flights in the Central New York area.
The military was unable to say why the $4 million Reaper drone lost control and crashed, but reported there was no damage to civilian property or injuries.
