Near the end of this video (20min16sec) one of the organizers of this specific event mentions that their plan is to convene at the same human rights monument featured at the beginning of this video (at Elgin & Lisgar) in the unfortunate and tragic event that the US bombs actually start to fall on Syria. He said, “we don’t want that to happen but we all know that it might”.

Awareness about geo-engineering and nanotech is spreading in Montreal! This local group of activists set out on a march to raise awareness and were pleasantly surprised to see that many cars honked in support as they passed by. Not only are we concerned here about geo-engineering, but also about the use of nanotech dust, which was recently found in the St Lawrence river, where our local water comes from.

Nova Scotia’s awful cyber abuse law makes bullies of us all
by Jesse Brown

August 8, 2011
I’ve written before about the problems involved in legislating against cyberbullying. I focused on the impossible issue of reaching a definition. Rape, assault, harassment: these are crimes with established parameters. All of them could also be called “bullying.” They could also be described as “mean,” and I suppose we could enact a law against being mean. But I’d rather have laws against specific crimes, rather than against vast swaths of vaguely defined human behaviour. Ultimately, bullying is in the eye of the bullied. For many, cyberbullying is equal to a negative thing said about them on the Internet. I’ve met restaurant owners who feel they’re being cyberbullied by Chowhound critics.
The problems with anti-cyberbullying laws don’t end there. Once a law establishes some flawed definition, it moves on to enforcement. Here’s how Nova Scotia’s new Cyber Safety Act, which went into effect yesterday, will go about stopping online abuse:
Someone feels that you’re cyberbullying them. They visit or phone the court and request a protection order against you (minors , or some reason, cannot do so, only adults). A judge decides if their claim meets the law’s definition. The definition of cyberbullying, in this particular bill, includes “any electronic communication” that ”ought reasonably be expected” to “humiliate” another person, or harm their “emotional well-being, self-esteem or reputation.”
If this is the standard, I don’t know a person who isn’t a cyberbully.
The issuing of a protection order is an ex parte process between your accuser and the court. You won’t have an opportunity to defend yourself. If a judge issues one against you, here’s what might happen:
- The police can seize your computers and phone.
- Your Internet connection can be shut off.
- You can be ordered to stop using electronic devices entirely.
- Your Internet Service Provider or Internet companies, such as Facebook, can be compelled to fork over all your data to the police.
- You can be gagged by the court and prohibited from mentioning your accuser online.
- If you violate any of these orders, you’ll face stiff fines and up to two years of jail time. At this point, your accuser can sue you in civil court.
But wait, there’s more.

Nuclear meltdown’s effect on B.C. fish unclear
Concern is growing that radioactive water from a damaged nuclear plant in Japan could affect fish in B.C.
Karla Robison, Ucluelet’s manager of environmental and emergency services, wants Ucluelet council to ask senior levels of government to support a study of chemicals in fish.
“We could work with local folks who are out fishing to get tissue samples and make sure there are no problems with the fish,” said Robison […] “It’s a very, very important issue and quite frightening,” she said. […]

New Health Minister To further Promote Agenda 21 Implementation
by Terry Wilson

Nearly one year ago I wrote about sustainable development being repackaged as a health issue.
Health Canada And Agenda 21
“At a recent United Nations event that we covered at the McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, the panel was discussing how climate change and environmental issues had to be repackaged as health issues. “Quote” because they effect human health. Climate change has gone from a environmental issue, to a poverty issue, and now it is a health issue. All within a year.
Since that event I have been looking into the health industry in Canada, to see if they are implementing policies that back this new re branding and this is what I have found.
Health Canada our main federal health institution has implemented a sustainable development strategy. Which reads exactly like any other sustainable development protocol. With goals that include:
Theme 1: Addressing Climate Change and Air Quality
Theme 2: Maintaining Water Quality and Availability
Theme 3: Protecting Nature
Theme 4: Shrinking the Environmental Footprint – Beginning with Government”
They even use an almost exact duplicate of a graph that the United Nations uses to promote agenda 21.

Now the new health minister is showing how she plans to move that agenda forward.
New health minister says public health care must innovate to be sustainable
The best way to maintain and strengthen Canada’s medicare system is to invest in innovation and research, Canada’s new health minister says.
“Our policy challenge – one which I plan to lead in my tenure as health minister – [is] improving our system in a way that will maintain the integrity of our publicly-funded system but capture productivity gains so our system is sustainable,” Rona Ambrose told delegates to the Canadian Medical Association annual meeting in Calgary on Monday.
“Innovation is very important when it comes to the long-term sustainability of our health care system.”
Ms. Ambrose, in her first speech since being appointed to the health portfolio, described herself as a “policy wonk” who has immersed herself in the issue of health innovation.
She was vague, however, on what sort of innovation she wanted to promote, other than pointing to the importance of technology, “improving the efficiency of the health delivery system and incentives for more cost-effective health care interventions.”
The minister described the federal government as the “largest single investor in Canadian health innovation,” notably with $1-billion in annual funding for the Canadian Institutes for Health Research.
Ms. Ambrose also stressed that innovation is an area “worthy of federal leadership and an area where I believe we can make gains together. “The consequences of not acting are staggering.” She said details will be worked out in discussions with the provinces and territories.
