VIDEO — Canadian State Spies on Its Own Citizens and Lies About It

Press TV
Dec 22, 2013

LINK: http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2013/12/…

A Canadian federal judge says the country’s intelligence agency has asked foreign security agencies to spy on Canadian nationals abroad.

Federal Court Judge Richard Mosley censured the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) for deliberately keeping the country’s Federal Court “in the dark” to bypass the law to spy on Canadians, Russia Today reported on Sunday.

The judge said that he had been deliberately misled by CSIS to authorize interception of electronic communications of unidentified Canadians abroad.

CSIS had also assured Mosley that the surveillance was to be carried out from inside the country. However, the spy agency outsourced the task to intelligence agencies of the United States, Britain, Australia, and New Zealand.

“It is clear that the exercise of the court’s warrant issuing has been used as protective cover for activities that it has not authorized,” the judge wrote in a court document, adding, “The failure to disclose that information was the result of a deliberate decision to keep the court in the dark about the scope and extent of the foreign collection efforts that would flow from the court’s issuance of a warrant.”

Moseley also said that such actions put the life of Canadian citizens abroad at risk as they “may be detained or otherwise harmed as a result of the use of the intercepted communications by the foreign agencies.”

Under the country’s law, the Federal Court has does not have the authority to issue warrants involving surveillance of Canadians by foreign intelligence agencies, the judge added.

Impeach The Government – Internet Twitter/Facebook Hashtag Storm

The Anti-Media

Get ready Twitter and Facebook, a storm is coming.

On Monday December 23, 2013, just days after the Senate passed the NDAA for Fiscal Year 2014; activists from around the globe will partake in a Twitter hashtag storm; #ImpeachTheGovernment. At 6 p.m. Pacific Time, over 600 activists will begin to launch the posts with that very hasthtag, where it is likely to grow and trend.

The NDAA, otherwise known as the National Defense Authorization Act has been around for many years. There have been 51 consecutive signings of the NDAA, all of which are budget related to military operations. However, with the recent signing statements made popular by Bush Jr. – President Obama over the past few years has added several provisions which legalize indefinite detention, torture, and even the assassination of American citizens.

The effort is being launched by a popular Alternative News Facebook page and website The Anti-Media, which has over 180,000 Likes on Facebook.

Nick Bernabe, a San Diego based activist, is one of the individuals who came up with the idea for the Twitter storm after the recent overwhelming majority of votes in the ‘yea’ column, which sent the NDAA to the president’s desk.

I asked Nick why he thought people should get involved in the Internet action tonight, and he said “We’re doing this Twitter storm to get a mass amount of people to know about the NDAA which has been ignored by the mainstream. The NDAA contains unconstitutional provisions which allow the government to indefinitely detain us citizens without charge or trial.”

He then added “many people are tired of the government and this Twitter storm is their chance to let the world know.”

To take part in the Twitter/Facebook storm, you can simply visit the event page and join it, or just sign in to your Twitter or Facebook at 6 p.m. Pacific Time, and type away using the hashtag #ImpeachTheGovernment

DMT Use Skyrockets Among American Users

by Danny Schechter

Dec 18, 2013

Disinfonaut DMT tales welcome in the comments! Addiction and recovery site The Fix takes an interest because “Despite powerful hallucinogenic effects and intense vomiting among users, DMT has also been seen as an alternative treatment for addiction”:

DMT, a powerful hallucinogenic compound used in religious rituals among Amazon tribes, has now become a popular recreational drug among U.S. residents.

According to recent reports by the Global Drug Survey and the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, the number of people in the U.S. who have used DMT in some form has risen every year since 2006, with over a million users reported in 2012. The drug is a key component in ayahuasca brew, a combination of two plants grown in South America that has been used as a medicinal and religious aid for tribal peoples in the region for countless years.

One of the plants in the brew, Psychotria viridis, contains dimethyltryptamine, or DMT, which is a common element in many plants and even the human body itself, which neutralizes the potency of the drug. However, when combined with Banisteriopsis caapi, which prevents the body from warding off the drug, the brew – known as yage to Beat literature aficionados who were introduced to it in Allen Ginsberg and William Burroughs’ The Yage Letters (1963) – produces intense and long-lasting hallucinations that users profiled in the Global Drug Survey have cited as stronger than ketamine or LSD. Physical reaction to the drug is also often ferocious, with violent vomiting and gastrointestinal distress among the immediate symptoms.

Despite these issues, ayahuasca has cited by independent scientists and researchers as an effective alternative treatment for addiction, due in part to its ability to raise the levels of serotonin transporters, which regulate mood. Its efficacy in this regard has been hampered by the U.S. Controlled Substances Act, which lists dimethltryptamine as a Schedule 1 drug alongside LSD, marijuana, MDMA, and GHB…
