A child was killed and a man seriously burned in an explosion that destroyed a house in northwest England. One person was believed to be trapped in the rubble and another unaccounted for. The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital with burns to 80 percent of his body. The explosion left a smoking pile of rubble where the terraced house had stood in the town of Oldham, 260 km northwest of London. The National Grid utilities company said five houses were damaged and 100 homes evacuated after the blast. It said residents had complained of a smell of gas before the blast and police said they were investigating a possible gas leak.

Justice For Ian Tomlinson? Police Officer Manslaughter Trial Underway In London [video included]

by Brit Dee, Contributor
Activist Post
June 19, 2012

The trial of a police officer filmed assaulting a man who died of internal injuries sustained during the attack has started in London.

The assault took place during the G20 protests in April 2009 when Ian Tomlinson, a 47-year-old newspaper seller uninvolved in the demonstrations, was attempting to make his way home through central London. Riot squad officer Simon Harwood was filmed striking Mr Tomlinson from behind with a baton, before violently shoving him in the back and sending him flying to the ground.

The shocking footage shows Mr Tomlinson, who reportedly had alcohol problems, ambling past a police line with his hands in his pockets. He was clearly not provoking the police, or posing any kind of threat. After landing heavily on the ground Mr Tomlinson managed to stagger 70 yards, before collapsing and dying. An initial postmortem suggested Ian Tomlinson had died from a heart attack, but tests later proved he had suffered abdominal bleeding caused by trauma.

PC Harwood, who is pleading not guilty to charges of manslaughter, should not even have been operating amongst the front lines that day as he had been assigned as a police van driver.

In the footage Harwood can be seen wearing a balaclava that obscures his lower face, making his identification difficult, and he had also removed the shoulder ID from his police jacket.

Harwood also failed to make a note of the incident, or tell anyone about it. Extraordinarily, he is claiming that his actions that day were ‘necessary, proportionate and reasonable’ in the circumstances.

In addition to exposing the brutality of one police officer, the case highlights the much wider issue of how the establishment tries to cover up, when one of their own stands accused of a crime. Astoundingly, no charges were initially going to be brought against Harwood.

Keir Starmer, Director of Public Prosecutions, said in July 2010 that there was no prospect of conviction because experts could not agree on how Mr Tomlinson had died. He said that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had considered assault charges, but prosecutors thought they could not prove PC Harwood’s push had ‘substantially harmed’ Mr Tomlinson.

Evidence was also withheld from the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). Three police constables reported witnessing the assault on Ian Tomlinson to senior officers, 48 hours after the attack and before video footage of the incident had emerged. City of London officers did not pass this information on to the IPCC, the pathologist, the coroner, Mr Tomlinson’s family, or the media.

Mr Tomlinson’s family understandably described the CPS’s decision as ‘outrageous’ and Jenny Jones, a member of the Metropolitan Police Authority, admitted that the “reputation of the police is poor, and morale won’t be very good if public perception is that the police constantly get away with crimes and are never brought to justice.”

The trial continues; hopefully Ian Tomlinson and his family will see justice, with Simon Harwood being found guilty of manslaughter, and a wider investigation launched into serious allegations of an institutional cover-up.

The Manton Grove Polar Clock?

Circle at Manton Grove – Does it show a polar clock?

Circle at Manton Grove – Does it show a polar clock?

The formation that appeared at Manton Grove on June 2nd was almost immediately identified as a polar clock. The formation is the first of 2012 to appear in barley. The unseasonable and changeable British weather in 2012 has meant that the crops are somewhat behind for the time of year; in 2011 we had our first barley circle on May 17th at East Kennett.

In fact there is not much barley growing in the Wiltshire countryside this summer, farmers have opted for more oilseed rape. An article on the ‘Telegraph Online’ website (posted 29th May) was headlined “Oilseed rape at record levels sparks hayfever and pesticides fears”. According to the reporter there was a 10% increase on the planting of the crop this year because of high demand for cooking oil and because frosts in other parts of Europe had killed many crops.

But this was causing concern amongst hayfever sufferers because of the pollen levels and fears that people deciding to walk in these colourful fields would be exposed to the toxic pesticides used to spray the crop – not to mention its impact on the wider environment.

The people inside the formation give it scale. It is the largest circle to have appeared in the UK this year – so far!

In another rather bizarre report on the same website (this time posted June 3rd) the headline read “Japanese tourists flocking to visit the UK’s rapeseed fields” apparently the crop is not grown in Japan and the tourists are amazed by its brilliant and beautiful colour, so much so that they flocked to photograph and visit the fields. I swear (this is utterly true) I saw on my local regional news a film report showing the intrepid Japanese getting of their tour bus to visit an oilseed rape field and the slightly bewildered, but smiling farmer only too happy to accommodate them at £1 each.

So now we have the happy phenomenon of tourists visiting farmers fields, even when there are no crop circles! Sadly the rapeseed flowers have now all but gone from our fields (or happily if you are a hayfever sufferer), and the crop circles have moved into barley.

(I have put links to the news stories at the bottom of this blog so you can see them for yourself)

The Manton formation is by far the largest circle to have appeared this year, I estimate that it is between 200ft – 250ft in diameter. At first glance it seems to be a circle containing a group of concentric rings of different lengths, but it was not long before people began to see it’s distinct similarity to a polar clock. If you google ‘polar clock’ you will immediately see colourful versions of the clock appear, especially if you search for pictures. The premise is simple, dates and time are displayed as concentric rings within a round clock face. Many polar clocks also change colour as each ring travels around its 360 degrees. There are polar clock apps for both apple and android phones. You can even download a polar clock screen saver.

There are some who have questioned this interpretation and I think that’s healthy. There has been at least one astronomical interpretation and there are many who are still looking for another meaning to its design. As ever, I am open to all ideas. There is also some questioning of how a time and date might be arrived at if we don’t know the specific order or designation for each ring – this is a good point – most polar clocks allow for you to rearrange, add or subtract the rings as it suits you. However, there is a kind of standard order and when this is applied the result does make sense.

Working from the centre:

Ring 1 – Month
Ring 2 – Date (day of the Month)
Ring 3 – Day (day of the week)
Ring 4 – Hour
Ring 5 – Minute
Ring 6 – Second
There is no ring for a specific year.

Drawing of the Manton Drove formation

Drawing of the Manton Drove formation

As with all these things you have to accept some margin of error without a theodolite to accurately measure the angles. The results of this methodology show that the date is August 4-6th, a Saturday at approx 17 hours 46 minutes and 52 seconds – again there is room for hours, minutes or seconds either side of these.

If it is August the 4th, that could mean it is a date later this summer as August 4th falls on a Saturday this year. If it is August 6th – the next August 6th on a Saturday would be 2016. Make of this what you will, it is an open ended interpretation not a definitive one.

Drawing a polar clock by hand is somewhat tricky as each ring (apart from minutes and seconds) have to be divided differently. If you want to try it for yourself I would advise you use a protractor to help you, this is not an exercise that would benefit in anyway from the classical compass and straight edge (only) method.

If you take the order I have given to the rings:

Ring 1 – Month: divide by 12 (30° per month)
Ring 2 – Date: depending on the month divide by 28/29/30 or 31
Ring 3 – Day: Divide by 7 – you have to be slightly creative here as 360 does not divide equally into 7.
Ring 4 – Hour: Divide by 24 (15° per hour)
Ring 5 – Minute: Divide by 60 (6° per minute)
Ring 6 – Second: As per minutes.

You could try changing the ring designations around and see if any other coherent date is possible.

There have been several formations over the years that have showed times and dates, or planetary positioning indicating a date. I guess only time will tell if this is a clock, and if it is, if its encoded information is meaningful. Perhaps the design has no meaning – who knows! I think that’s why they call it the crop circle mystery.

I recently received an email asking me if I had tried spinning the circle to see what would happen. This query is based on Benham’s disk – an experiment where black and white images are spun and can produce the perception of colour depending on the frequency. This is because it is human perception that interprets frequencies as colours. This is a fascinating notion. I will be pursuing this to see what happens – I’ll let you know. There is a link to a web page below with instruction on creating your own experiment.

Syrian Rebels Set Trap for British Journalists

Land Destroyer Report

Alex Thomson narrowly escapes attempt to kill his Channel 4 team, “clear the rebels deliberately set us up to be shot by the Syrian Army.”
by Tony Cartalucci

June 9, 2012 – While the New York Times publishes Goebbels-esque war propaganda pieces titled, “Assad, the Butcher,” presuming to know the details about an unconfirmed “massacre” the UN is just now in the beginning stages of investigating – a disturbing and very telling incident unfolded that is very much confirmed. British Channel 4’s Alex Thomson, one of the few Western journalists not only in Syria legally, but attempting to cover both sides of the conflict, was purposefully led by rebels into a trap designed to have him and his team killed by government troops.

Image: UK’s Channel 4 News’ Alex Thomson narrowly escaped a trap set for him and his team in Syria, by rebels hoping to use his death as propaganda. Ironically, it would have been Thomson’s own countrymen and colleagues, particularly BBC, who would have maximized the effect of the rebels’ insidious plot had they succeeded. Killing journalists and carrying out manufactured atrocities, then blaming it on a targeted government is a pastime for Western media houses.

 ….

Set up to be shot in Syria’s no man’s land?” featured on Thomson’s personal Channel 4 blog describes a tale of violence on both sides – very uncharacteristic of Western and particularly British media coverage. While BBC was busy posting fake pictures for their one-sided Houla Massacre coverage, Thomson was busy trying to interview belligerents on both sides of the Syrian conflict.

Thomson’s narrative describes what appears to be a bifurcation between “rebel” forces. On one hand, there are organized fighters that appear to solely committed to fighting the Syrian Army. On the other hand, there appears to be a more insidious “third party” involved, a third party implicated by Thomson as having intentionally led him and his team into a deadly trap. This is a narrative that corroborates statements made by the Syrian government itself, as well as independent geopolitical analysts from around the world – that there exists a substantiation third party, consisting of foreign mercenaries and sectarian extremists carrying out the bulk of the violence and atrocities.

Thomson describes his ordeal after accompanying UN monitors out to “Free Syrian Army” held territory:

“We decide to ask for an escort out the safe way we came in. Both sides, both checkpoints will remember our vehicle.

Suddenly four men in a black car beckon us to follow. We move out behind.

We are led another route. Led in fact, straight into a free-fire zone. Told by the Free Syrian Army to follow a road that was blocked off in the middle of no-man’s-land.

At that point there was the crack of a bullet and one of the slower three-point turns I’ve experienced. We screamed off into the nearest side-street for cover.
Another dead-end.

There was no option but to drive back out onto the sniping ground and floor it back to the road we’d been led in on.

Predictably the black car was there which had led us to the trap. They roared off as soon as we re-appeared.”

I’m quite clear the rebels deliberately set us up to be shot by the Syrian Army. Dead journos are bad for Damascus.”

Alex Thomson concluded his account by saying, “in a war where they slit the throats of toddlers back to the spine, what’s the big deal in sending a van full of journalists into the killing zone? It was nothing personal.”

The obvious question that comes to mind upon reading Thomson’s account, along with emerging evidence that the Western press willfully lied about the Houla Massacre and is attempting to do so again regarding killings in Hama, is that “if rebels are willing to try and kill foreign journalists for propaganda value – men and women merely trying to do their job, to share with the world the truth about unfolding events in Syria – just to blame the deaths on the Syrian government, why wouldn’t they kill men, women and children to blame on the Syrian government as well?”

Another pertinent question would be, “what if the rebels had succeeded in their insidious plan to have Thomson and his team killed? Would the Western press commit themselves to due diligence in ascertaining the truth surrounding the circumstances of their deaths? Or would headlines read, “BRITISH JOURNALISTS SLAUGHTERED BY ASSAD!”

It is above all ironic, that the West’s insidious leadership who long planned Syria’s division, destruction, and downfall, and the Western media that serves this agenda, are able to invoke so much genuine sympathy and concern for human life in people around the world, when they themselves lack any at all.

CIA, MI6 agents direct massacres in Syria: American analyst [video included]

An American author says agents of the CIA and MI6 are directing armed groups to carry out massacres inside Syria, Press TV reports.

Stephen Lendman, writer and radio host from Chicago, said the CIA and MI6 “special forces” are in Syria now, directing massacres.

“They go after pro-Assad loyalists,” Lendman stated in an interview with Press TV on Saturday.

“There is no question this is a Washington-orchestrated war.”

“It is a low-level war to the extent that NATO has not gotten directly involved. But it is exactly what happened in Libya last year. An insurgency began. Washington orchestrated it. Insurgents were recruited. They were funded. They were armed.”

The American author stated that Syria has been “targeted for regime change for years, at least a decade.”

Lendman also referred to the six-point peace plan presented by the UN-Arab League envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, in March.

“His so-called peace plan puts the onus on a side. He barely mentions these insurgents, these death squads, these killers.”

“I have written about Kofi Annan. I have written several times about him. During his tenure as UN secretary general, a decade, a solid decade, he never did a thing to stop imperial wars,” Lendman added.

He made the comments on the same day when the opposition Syrian National Council (SNC) elected 56-year-old Abdulbaset Saida, a Kurdish activist, as its new leader during a meeting in Istanbul.

Saida replaced former SNC leader Burhan Ghalioun, who resigned in May.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister said in a press conference in Moscow on June 9 that Russia “will not sanction the use of force (against Syria) at the United Nations Security Council.”

Lavrov added that the Annan plan had begun to “seriously falter,” but that there was “no alternative” to it.
