The US and British drive to launch a military operation against Syria has come up against new hurdles – both abroad and at home. The UN Security Council failed to agree on how to act – but Britain says, even without a mandate, an attack would be justified on humanitarian grounds. That’s as high-ranking former military officials in Britain also warn against striking Syria.
