This episode is with an interview with David Asprey, part 1, titled “Bulletproof Coffee: Revisiting Fat and Health” and is being released on Sunday, May 26, 2013. This interview with Burt and Tom was recorded on Wednesday, May 20, 2013.

Dave uses a combination of nutrition, nervous system training, and anti-aging technologies to improve the performance of the human body and mind.
Dave Asprey is a Silicon Valley investor, biohacker, and entrepreneur who spent 15 years and $250,000 to hack his own biology. He upgraded his brain by more than 20 IQ points, lowered his biological age, and lost 100 lbs without using calories or exercise.
The Financial Times calls him a “bio-hacker who takes self-quantification to the extreme of self-experimentation.”
His writing has been published by the New York Times and Fortune, and he’s presented at Wharton, the University of California, and Singularity University.
Dave has been covered on video on CNN, ABC News, Nightline, Forbes, and MSNBC. In print, he’s been featured in Men’s Health, Forbes, Fast Company, the Los Angeles Times, and Vogue.
Dave’s Bulletproof Executive blog was born out of a fifteen-year single-minded crusade to upgrade the human being using every available technology. It distills the knowledge of more than 120 world-class MDs, biochemists, Olympic nutritionists, meditation experts, and more than $250,000 spent on personal self-experiments.
From private brain EEG facilities hidden in a Canadian forest to remote monasteries in Tibet, from Silicon Valley to the Andes, high tech entrepreneur Dave Asprey used hacking techniques and tried everything himself, obsessively focused on discovering:
What are the simplest things you can do to be better at everything?
Knowing this leads to being bulletproof, the state of high performance where you take control of and improve your biochemistry, your body, and your mind so they work in unison, helping you execute at levels far beyond what you’d expect, without burning out, getting sick, or just acting like a stressed-out jerk. It used to take a lifetime to radically rewire the human body and mind this way. Technology has changed the rules.

Bullet Proof Coffee Recipe:

Bulletproof Coffee Recipe

  • Start with 4-500 ml (2 mugs) of black coffee brewed with my mold-free Upgraded Coffee beans. (Why this is important)
  • Add 2 Tbs (or more, up to 80 grams, about 2/3 of a standard stick of butter) of Kerry Gold or other UNSALTED grass-fed butter
  • Add 30 grams of MCT oil for max energy, weight loss and brain function (this is 6 times stronger than coconut oil, your next best choice)
  • Blend with a pre-heated hand blender, Magic Bullet, or (best) counter top blender until there is a creamy head of foam. (It doesn’t work well if you mix it with a spoon)

It’s really fast and easy to prepare. Realize salted coffee is a crime. Do not do this with salted butter. Bleah.

Kerrygold butter or another grass-fed brand of butter really matters because corn or soy-fed cows don’t make butter with the same fats. Those butters don’t blend well, don’t taste good, and don’t make you feel Bulletproof.

Grass-fed butter is much healthier than other butter. It doesn’t make cholesterol levels worse, it optimizes them! Starting your day with grass-fed butter will give you lots of energy and it will give your body healthy fats that it will use to make cell walls and hormones.

If you’re like most of my friends who try this, your body is so starved for healthy fats that you feel like you can’t get enough. It will take your body a week or two to fully turn on its fat digestion systems when you switch to a high healthy fat breakfast of Bulletproof coffee. If at first it is a little too rich, try using less butter at first and build up to the amount you like. Taking a betaine HCl or digestive enzyme supplement with your coffee will also help your body digest the butter.

Try this just once, with only 2 Tbs of butter, and have nothing else for breakfast. You will experience one of the best mornings of your life, with boundless energy and focus. It’s amazing.

After one drink of Bulletproof coffee, you’ll never be tempted to eat fat-free, insulin-raising, fat-storing toast and oatmeal breakfasts again!

P.S. If you benefit from this post, I’d really appreciate it if you tried my Upgraded Coffee beans. I created them for maximum mental performance and health, and they work, costing $2 more than Starbucks normal beans, and less than their “Reserve” coffee. The proceeds support the research that gets published on this site, and your brain really will notice the difference. Thank you.

What Jobs Will the Robots Take?

Reuters

Nearly half of American jobs today could be automated in “a decade or two,” according to new research. The question is: Which half?

It is an invisible force that goes by many names. Computerization. Automation. Artificial intelligence. Technology. Innovation. And, everyone’s favorite, ROBOTS.

Whatever name you prefer, some form of it has been stoking progress and killing jobs—from seamstresses to paralegals—for centuries. But this time is different: Nearly half of American jobs today could be automated in “a decade or two,” according to a new paper by Carl Benedikt Frey and Michael A. Osborne, discussed recently in The Economist. The question is: Which half?

Another way of posing the same question is: Where do machines work better than people? Tractors are more powerful than farmers. Robotic arms are stronger and more tireless than assembly-line workers. But in the past 30 years, software and robots have thrived at replacing a particular kind of occupation: the average-wage, middle-skill, routine-heavy worker, especially in manufacturing and office admin.

Indeed, Frey and Osborne project that the next wave of computer progress will continue to shred human work where it already has: manufacturing, administrative support, retail, and transportation. Most remaining factory jobs are “likely to diminish over the next decades,” they write. Cashiers, counter clerks, and telemarketers are similarly endangered. On the far right side of this graph, you can see the industry breakdown of the 47 percent of jobs they consider at “high risk.”

And, for the nitty-gritty breakdown, here’s a chart of the ten jobs with a 99-percent likelihood of being replaced by machines and software. They are mostly routine-based jobs (telemarketing, sewing) and work that can be solved by smart algorithms (tax preparation, data entry keyers, and insurance underwriters). At the bottom, I’ve also listed the dozen jobs they consider least likely to be automated. Health care workers, people entrusted with our safety, and management positions dominate the list.

If you wanted to use this graph as a guide to the future of automation, your upshot would be: Machines are better at rules and routines; people are better at directing and diagnosing. But it doesn’t have to stay that way.

NSA Able to Target Off-Line Computers Using Radio Waves

by Chris Carrington
Activist Post
Jan 15, 2014

A report by RT states that the NSA has implanted software in computers around the world that enables them to use surveillance of those machines even when they are off-line.

According to the report:

The secret technology uses covert radio waves transmitted from small circuit boards and USB cards clandestinely inserted into targeted computers, The New York Times reported. The waves can then be sent to a briefcase-sized relay station intelligence agencies can set up just miles away, according to NSA documents, computer experts and US officials.

The radio frequency technology – which often needs to be physically inserted by a spy, manufacturer or unwitting user – has helped US spies access computers that global adversaries have gone to great lengths to protect from surveillance or cyber-attack.

The NSA calls use of the infiltration software and radio technology – all part of a program known as Quantum -“active defense”against cyber-attacks, though it has condemned use of similar software by Chinese attackers against American companies or government agencies.

“What’s new here is the scale and the sophistication of the intelligence agency’s ability to get into computers and networks to which no one has ever had access before,”James Andrew Lewis, cyber security expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, told The Times.“Some of these capabilities have been around for a while, but the combination of learning how to penetrate systems to insert software and learning how to do that using radio frequencies has given the U.S. a window it’s never had before.”

Russia and China have been frequent targets of the technology, as have Mexican authorities and drug cartels.

Edward Snowden has released documents showing the locations of around 100,000 implanted computers around the globe, and last month Der Spiegel published details of the NSA ANT product data.

The NSA maintains that the implanted systems gives an early warning of cyber attacks aimed at the US…something that many technology experts say is not strictly true.

The debacle over the NSA and its techniques has circled the globe, and there’s no sign yet that the firestorm of accusation against the department is going to stop anytime soon.

Breakthrough allows scientists to watch how molecules morph into memories (w/ video)

In two studies in the January 24 issue of Science, researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University used advanced imaging techniques to provide a window into how the brain makes memories. These insights into the molecular basis of memory were made possible by a technological tour de force never before achieved in animals: a mouse model developed at Einstein in which molecules crucial to making memories were given fluorescent “tags” so they could be observed traveling in real time in living brain cells.

Efforts to discover how make memories have long confronted a major roadblock: Neurons are extremely sensitive to any kind of disruption, yet only by probing their innermost workings can scientists view the molecular processes that culminate in memories. To peer deep into neurons without harming them, Einstein researchers developed a in which they fluorescently tagged all molecules of messenger RNA (mRNA) that code for beta-actin protein – an essential structural protein found in large amounts in and considered a key player in making memories. mRNA is a family of RNA molecules that copy DNA’s genetic information and translate it into the proteins that make life possible.

“It’s noteworthy that we were able to develop this mouse without having to use an artificial gene or other interventions that might have disrupted neurons and called our findings into question,” said Robert Singer, Ph.D., the senior author of both papers and professor and co-chair of Einstein’s department of anatomy & structural biology and co-director of the Gruss Lipper Biophotonics Center at Einstein. He also holds the Harold and Muriel Block Chair in Anatomy & Structural Biology at Einstein.

In the research described in the two Science papers, the Einstein researchers stimulated neurons from the mouse’s hippocampus, where memories are made and stored, and then watched fluorescently glowing beta-actin mRNA molecules form in the nuclei of neurons and travel within dendrites, the neuron’s branched projections. They discovered that mRNA in neurons is regulated through a novel process described as “masking” and “unmasking,” which allows beta-actin protein to be synthesized at specific times and places and in specific amounts.

Mark of the Beast for your feast? Microchipped food texts you when it spoils

by J.D. Heyes
Natural News

Jan 25, 2014

(NaturalNews) Technology continues to improve our lives, but as we’ve often reported here at Natural News, technology – the Technology Age, for lack of a better term – is also a double-edged sword.

Consider new technology that essentially allows your food to notify you when it is spoiled. No, we’re not making that up.

Some analysts wonder if it is akin to the mark of the beast for your dinner table.

As reported by Britain’s The Telegraph:

Computer chips in futuristic food packaging could warn consumers when their food is about to go off, it has been reported.

Scientists have developed the gadget that can be inserted into packets of perishable foods, which will be able to assess when the contents are nearing their use-by date, an EU committee of peers has heard.

In a separate report, Britain’s Daily Mail said the technology would enable your food to – get this – text you when it is approaching its shelf life:

If you have trouble deciding what to have for dinner, help could soon be at hand – with your food texting to tell you it needs eating.

Scientists have developed a computer chip that can be inserted into food packaging and is able to assess when the contents are nearing their use-by date.

New drone transforms from a helicopter into a truck to evacuate troops

By End the Lie

The Black Knight Transformer (Image credit: Advanced Tactics)

A new drone is being developed that will be capable of transforming from a helicopter to a truck in order to evacuate troops and drop off cargo in conditions that manned aircraft cannot or should not operate in.

Read our latest articles: “Russia says they will continue to back Assad; hundreds killed in rebel infighting” and “Judge will not let plaintiff or her lawyer see evidence in ‘no-fly list’ trial

This especially unusual creation, being developed by Advanced Tactics, is one of many odd drones that the Pentagon is hoping to have developed in the near future.

The “Black Knight Transformer” is an eight-rotor vehicle that can fold back its rotors for driving through tight streets, spring them out for takeoff and tilt them forward for faster flight, all while being remotely piloted.

The vehicle is being developed by El Segundo, California-based Advanced Tactics with the help of funding from a Congressional Special Interest program, according to an Advanced Tactics press release from 2010.

The development process for this “Multi-Mission Medical and Casualty Evacuation Unmanned Air Vehicle / Unmanned Ground Vehicle” began in 2009 under the U.S. Army Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center.

It is part of a larger push for drones to be used for military casualty evacuation, something that an Army study concluded “will soon be a reality and eventually commonplace in the battle-space.”

In the relatively near future, the military states that robots will:

 (1) Provide tactical commanders with increased tactical and operational flexibility; (2) Allow the execution of Unmanned Aircraft Systems for Casualty Evacuation – these missions in conditions that manned platforms cannot (or should not) operate in, such as “zero-zero” weather or a contaminated environment; (3) Husband critical medical “first responder” resources; and (4) Act as a force multiplier of scarce “high demand/low density” medical evacuation assets.

The military also wants to use it for cargo delivery, according to Advanced Tactics chief engineer Rustom Jehangir.

“The U.S. Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory is interested in using the Black Knight vehicle for unmanned cargo resupply missions,” Jehangir said to Popular Science.

So far, Advanced Tactics has only tested the driving component, which was tested in late 2013.

The company plans to test the flying part before the end of February.
