A UN official has warned that Canada is facing a crisis over the conditions of its aboriginal population, “grappling with a housing crisis” as well as “poor education and healthcare.”
James Anaya, UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of the indigenous peoples, made the warning on Monday, as he published a report on the situation of Canada’s First Nations.
Anaya called on the administration of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to take “urgent action” to address the housing crisis for the indigenous population and to provide “sufficient funding” for services, including education, health and child welfare.
Anaya also commented on the situation of aboriginal women and girls, saying they “remain vulnerable to abuse” and called for a nationwide inquiry into the disappearance and murder of nearly 1,200 native women over the past three decades.
The Harper administration has repeatedly refused to launch a national inquiry.
Latest figures by Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) showed that some 1,186 incidents have been recorded of aboriginal homicides and unresolved investigations into incidents of missing women.
The UN official said there are “high levels of distrust” toward the Canadian government among the native population, adding the relationship between the two is even more strained than a decade ago.
Jean Crowder, the official opposition critic for aboriginal affairs with the New Democratic Party, has blamed the government for not taking more action regarding the issue.
“Study after study, report after report find that investments are needed to improve the quality of life for indigenous peoples in Canada, especially in housing, child welfare and education, yet this government continues to let funding trickle out,” Crowder stated.
According to a 2011 census, Canada has 1.4 million Aboriginals, which is nearly 4.3 percent of its overall population.

VIDEO — Preventing a Referendum: Yatsenyuk Regime kills Ukrainian Civilians in Krasnoarmeysk

May 11, 2014
The coup-installed US-backed Yatsenyuk regime has killed Ukrainian citizens trying to exercise their democratic rights to vote peaceful in a referendum. Instead of allowing inhabitants of Krasnoarmeysk, in Donetsk Oblast, vote on their future, the US-backed Yatsenyuk regime has sent armed forces to prevent them them from voting under the pretext of anti-terrorism operations.
Who are the real terrorists? Unarmed civilians trying to vote or those so-called “EuroMaidan leaders,” like Arseniy Yatsenyuk, sending troops to threaten and kill them?

School Bans Teachers From Using Red Ink Because It’s Too Mean
Red Ice Creations
May 11, 2014
From: time.com
Red is a “negative color” now …well we here are Red Ice are offended by that! So send them to jail!
Where will it end?

Can students not handle being wrong?
Kids these days, they can’t handle any negativity. Stereotypical millennials always need to be rewarded for their accomplishments whether or not they actually accomplished anything. Now, one school is taking this to heart by banning red ink.
At an academy in the U.K. county of Cornwall, teachers have been instructed not to grade papers in red pen because it is a “very negative color,” vice principal Jennie Hick told the Daily Mail. Green was suggested instead for corrections (the opposite of red, we supposed).
What’s more, teachers are encouraged to write “two or three positive comments” about the work handed in, and students can respond to their teachers’ comments in purple. Wonder what color they’ll write their diary entry in when, as adults, they realize everything is a lie and they are not actually special snowflakes?
School bans red ink – and tells teachers to mark in green instead (and get pupils to respond in purple)

* Teachers at Mounts Bay Academy near Penzance, Cornwall, told red is a ’very negative colour’
* System is designed to encourage dialogue between teachers and pupils
* Vice principal Jennie Hick said: ’Switching to the new marking system is certainly not about us going all soft and fuzzy’
A school has banned teachers from marking in red pen because is it judged a ‘very negative colour’.
Teachers at Mounts Bay Academy near Penzance, Cornwall, have reportedly been told to use green pens instead.
Pupils, meanwhile, are being asked to comment on marking using purple pens.
According to The Cornishman, the new system is designed to encourage dialogue between teachers and students.
‘Switching to the new marking system is certainly not about us going all soft and fuzzy,’ vice principal Jennie Hick told the paper.
She said that the system will see teachers make ‘two or three positive comments’ about homework.

It is hoped this will encourage pupils to not just look for their overall marks, but get them to respond with comments of their own.
She told the paper: ‘I think it was felt that red ink was a very negative colour.’
However, Campaign for Real Education chairman Chris McGovern told the paper that, in fact, students prefer red ink because it makes comments easier to read.
He said: ‘A lot of schools seem to have a culture where they don’t like criticising children but actually this helps them.’

VIDEO — Some of John McCain’s Friends: US-Supported Insurgents Humiliate Syrian Old Man in Aleppo
Global Research TV
May 11, 2014
In March 2013 the US-supported insurgent group known as the so-called “Free Syrian Army” abducted the famous “Yellow Man of Aleppo.” The Yellow Man of Aleppo, whose real name is Abu Zakhour, is an old man who is a local celebrity.
When a Syrian journalist asked him, in a 2010 interview, why he wears yellow all the time, the old man responded that he “chose yellow because it’s a color that gives people happiness and joy” whenever they see it. “People loved me from the beginning and I want to repay them that love” by bringing joy into their lives by wearing yellow, he explained. In 2013, his desires to bring joy were met by punishment, physical abuse, verbal abuse and public humiliation when US-supported fighters entered Aleppo.
After abducting Abu Zakhour the insurgent fighters uploaded a video of themselves insulting and tormenting the old man online before he was taken away in their car. The FSA thugs intimidate and force the old man from Aleppo to pretend he supports them and the US-supported insurgency in Syria, to curse President Bashar Al-Assad, and to even bark like a dog and to smile while they slap and hit him multiple times.
These are the criminals that John McCain and the US, UK, French, Turkish, Qatari, Saudi, German, and Canadian government support and want in power.
