Activist Post Writing Contest Announcement

Win 2 Tickets to see David Icke at Wembley Arena and $500 for travel.

We are excited to announce a writing contest open to all of our readers. As we approach the much-discussed date of December 21st, 2012 — the end of the Mayan calendar — there is obviously a great awakening taking place. The elite are clearly aware of this and seem to be doing everything in their power to prevent a critical mass from realizing enlightenment. It appears they are trying to combat this vast vibrational change by attempting to overwhelm it with negative energy through wars, economic collapse, tyrannical laws, poisoned food and environment, and a host of other fear-inducing tactics.

It is certainly one of the most interesting times to be alive in the history of the human race. What we hope to achieve with this writing contest is to show the level of awareness that is building around the world. We want to read about your personal awakening, your perception of the changes taking place as whole, or your predictions for where this is all heading after the mythical apocalypse of 2012.

The winner will get two premium tickets to see David Icke perform at the Wembley Arena in London on October 27th, with $500 for travel expenses. As this once-in-a-lifetime event is the prize for the contest, we will also accept submissions about your thoughts regarding David Icke’s work, including reviews of his books or previous events.

The winner will be determined strictly based on the highest number of total pageviews that the article generates during the contest, so that subjective judging will not affect the outcome. Not all submissions will be published and we’ll retain the right to make final small edits for typos and grammar. Please see the guidelines for submissions below:

  • Topics: Your personal awakening, your interpretation of the “agenda”, the global transformation taking place, predictions of a post-2012 world, or reviews of David Icke’s material and what his work has meant to you.
  • Length: 1,500 words maximum. Footnotes do not count as part of the total.
  • Originals Only: The article must be original content for our exclusive use as the first website to publish it on the Internet.
  • Deadline: The contest officially begins on April 15, 2012 and will run through July 15, 2012. Articles will be reviewed and published in the order they are received. As the winner will be determined by total page views, the earlier you submit your article the better chance you have to win. The deadline for submission is June 15, 2012. The winner will be announced on July 31st, 2012.
  • Submission Guidelines: Please submit completed articles via email to contest@activistpost.com. Submissions can be cut-and-pasted into an e-mail, or you may attach a Word file. We can only make minor edits, so submissions that have poor formatting, or need heavy editing must be disqualified. Unfortunately we are not able to attend to follow-up edits once a submission is posted, so please take time to be sure that you are submitting a final version you are happy with. Multiple submissions are permitted, but will not count toward a cumulative total; each entry will stand on its own.  We cannot accept images, due to the length of time it takes to post them, but you may provide 1 video that is relevant to your article. Lastly, please provide a title.
  • Finding Entries: Contest entries can be found in two ways: first, you can simply click here to see all posts entered in the writing contest. Second, each entry will be posted by number in our Forum.  You will see the date of the submission to the right of the entry if you would like to track entries that way.

Best of luck to all, we look forward to hearing and sharing what you have to say.

UN Working With NATO to Provide Pretext for Syrian Intervention [video included]

Land Destroyer Report

UN “aid” program to be used in establishing NATO “humanitarian corridors.”
by Tony Cartalucci

April 21, 2012 – Recently reported in Reuters’, “UN seeks Syria nod for major aid operation,” the UN is seeking to bring in “aid workers” and open offices all across Syria in order to carry out what they call a “major humanitarian operation.”

Syria has criticized certain nations of what is clearly the “politicizing of humanitarian aid.” Fortune 500-funded US policy think-tank, Brookings Institution has openly stated that US foreign policy would best be served by taking advantage of “gaining humanitarian access” allowing the West to “add further coercive action to its efforts” to topple the Syrian government. Specifically, Brookings foresees gaining such access may lead to establishing “safe-havens and humanitarian corridors” protected by NATO military forces, in yet another example of the “mission creep” that led to regime change in Libya. Such “creep” would give proxy militant forces unassailable positions to continue their campaign of violence against the Syrian people.

Image: Brookings Institution’s Middle East Memo #21 “Assessing Options for Regime Change (.pdf),” makes no secret that the humanitarian “responsibility to protect” is but a pretext for long-planned regime change.

….

Despite the UN’s “peace plan” being fully rejected by both the Syrian rebels and their Western and Arab League backers who have openly pledged cash, weapons, and support for them to continue fighting, in full violation of the proposed ceasefire, the Western media has instead accused the Syrian government of failing to meet its obligations. As the West continues to fuel the violence, and if “humanitarian access” is approved, military intervention will be proposed to combat what will be claimed to be Syrian government “belligerence.”

Video: Michael Weiss of the Neo-Con “Henry Jackson Society,” openly admits that diplomatic options are being paraded publicly to satisfy public opinion, but ultimately NATO plans to unilaterally intervene militarily in Syria, and will do so with the UN’s purposefully sabotaged “humanitarian operation” as its pretext.

….

Driving the echo chamber that is the Western media, are corporate-financier funded (beginning on page 18, .pdf), Neo-Conservative led think-tanks like the Henry Jackson Society (HJS), whose representatives can be found propagandizing on Qatari government propaganda outlet Al Jazeera accusing the Syrian government of “serially violating” the terms of the UN proposed “peace deal.” Al Jazeera regular, Michael Weiss of  HJS, openly admits that “diplomatic options” are merely being peddled to satisfy public opinion and that ultimately NATO will act unilaterally, outside of the UN, to militarily intervene.

Image: Representatives from “reputable” sounding institutions are regularly paraded on corporate-media outlets like CNN, BBC, and the Qatari government-run Al Jazeera to “explain” world events. In reality, these institutions are all funded by the same handful of Wall Street and London corporate-financiers and represent a singular agenda that transcends presidencies. Western policy toward Syria is being determined by the same people during the “Obama administration” as during the “Bush administration.” They will continue to determine said policy regardless of who wins elections in Europe or America during 2012. (click on image to enlarge)

….

The proposed timetable for the UN’s “humanitarian operation” is at least 6 months and represents a long-term commitment to continue destabilizing and ultimately overthrowing the Syrian government at any cost, in both resources and time. To prevent NATO military intervention, Syria and its allies would have to create a tactical environment on the ground that would make any such encroachment untenable. Additionally, undermining the international institutions disingenuously portraying the Syrian conflict as “one-sided” must be accomplished – this includes faux-rights advocates like Soros-funded Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, along with various arms and personalities inside the UN itself.

Wall Street and London are determined to intervene in Syria with or without UN approval, illustrating again the absolute fraud that is “global governance” and international “rule of law.” When the West decides to intervene, it must be made sure that they do so openly as perpetrators of a war of aggression, as defined by the Nuremberg trials – the very precedence of the willfully abused international law now at play.

Connecticut Bill Would Allow Citizens to Sue Police Who Arrest Them for Filming in Public

CT State Senator Eric Coleman

by Madison Ruppert
Editor of End the Lie
April 22, 2012

The trend of individuals being arrested for legally filming police in public is an issue which gets me especially frustrated and a favorite topic of mine to bring up here at End the Lie.Thankfully, recently individuals have been striking back through lawsuits and in some cases charges have been dropped. Furthermore, an Illinois judge declared their state wiretapping law unconstitutional in a case which surrounded recording police in public.

That being said, police are still engaging in deplorable activities like confiscating cell phones and destroying evidence and flipping out for no reason when being filmed.

Connecticut’s state Senate is now taking a stand by recently approving a bill, Senate Bill 245, which would allow citizens to sue police officers if they arrest them for legally recording in public.

Carlos Miller points out that this legislation is apparently the first of its kind in the United States, something which I personally find to be quite troubling. Why aren’t more state legislatures making an effort to protect their citizens’ ability to hold police accountable?

After all, the fact that cameras were on the scene at the Occupy Davis protests to capture the pepper spray attack carried out by Lieutenant John Pike is the only reason why we know that the police’s claims that the spraying was justified are nothing short of laughable.

“What concerns me is but for the reality of the Kroll report finding something like 60 tapes of what happened, without that, folk would have a tendency to believe exactly what was said, that the officers were afraid for their lives,” said former California Supreme Court Associate Justice and professor emeritus at the UC Davis School of Law, Cruz Reynoso, in a report on the incident.

The right of the people to hold law enforcement accountable for their activities while on the job is absolutely vital and every incident like the one mentioned above just reinforces this reality.

Currently, police are able to harass and in some cases assault individuals for legally filming them while knowing that the worst that could possibly happen to them is that the taxpayer is forced to pay out as a result of lawsuits.

The Connecticut bill, introduced by Democratic Senator Eric Coleman, passed the Senate with a 24-11 vote.

The bill must now go before the House and then be signed by the governor before it would become effective on October 1, 2012.

Instead of placing the liability on the taxpayer, this bill, the full name of which is “An Act Concerning the Recording of Police Activity by the Public: To protect the right of an individual to photograph or video record peace officers in the performance of their duties” (read it here), would make the police officer liable for damages.

The relevant text reads:

This bill makes peace officers potentially liable for damages for interfering with a person taking a photograph, digital still, or video image of either the officer or a colleague performing his or her job duties. Under the bill, officers cannot be found liable if they reasonably believed that the interference was necessary to (1) lawfully enforce a criminal law or municipal ordinance; (2) protect public safety; (3) preserve the integrity of a crime scene or criminal investigation; (4) safeguard the privacy of a crime victim or other person; or (5) enforce Judicial Branch rules and policies that limit taking photographs, videotaping, or otherwise recording images in branch facilities.

Officers found liable of this offense are entitled, under existing law, to indemnification (repayment) from their state or municipal employer if they were acting within their scope of authority and the conduct was not willful, wanton, or reckless.

This bill does, in fact, include exemptions and yet some opponents wanted to see even more exemptions included in the bill.

According to The Day, one of the opponents was Senator Kevin Witkos, who just happens to be a sergeant in the Canton Police Department.

Witkos sought out yet another liability exemption if an individual allegedly intended to “inconvenience or alarm” an officer performing their duties.

How exactly this would be determined is unclear at best, yet Witkos said that he was seeking to protect police against “ill-intentioned videographers who seek to interfere with police.”

Once again, it is anyone’s guess how Witkos thinks these intentions would be determined.

“I do believe that the public has a right, if they’re not in the way of a police officer doing their job, of filming all they want,” he said.

However, we have seen professional photojournalists be arrested and harassed for filming police when they were in no way interfering with their job.

That doesn’t stop them from claiming that the individual was interfering with police activities, so Witkos’ proposal is, in my opinion, naïve (or perhaps he is well aware of what police do since he has that first-hand experience and thus is acting to protect them).

Thankfully, the state lawmakers were not dumb enough to lap up Witkos’ attempts to eviscerate the power of the bill.

Senate Majority Leader Martin Looney pointed out that the Witkos amendment “would render the bill without meaning.”

Looney also rightly pointed out that it is already a crime to interfere with a police officer and this law would do absolutely nothing to change that.

Senator Eric Coleman, the co-chair of the judiciary committee, said, “To adopt this amendment would do nothing more than muddy the waters,” an assessment which I find wholly accurate.

Other proposed amendments included one which would have completely exempted police assigned to the Capitol building from the law and one which would have placed the burden of proof on the person bringing forth the lawsuit.

According to the Hartford Courant, the bill was prompted by a 2009 incident in which a Catholic priest was arrested for recording police harassing immigrants in a store.

The incident sparked a criminal investigation carried out by the FBI wand federal prosecutors, eventually leading to the arrest of four police officers on charges of obstructing justice and excessive force.

The priest involved in the incident, James Manship, attended a press conference during which Democratic Senators stated that if the law had been in effect at the time, Manship’s actions would have been protected.

Hopefully this will set a precedent and encourage similar legislation protecting our right to hold law enforcement accountable.

Furthermore, it only makes sense to shift the liability away from bankrupt municipalities (and thus the local taxpayers who likely are already \ stretched thin financially like so many of us) and onto the officers responsible.

Without being able to hold on-duty officers responsible for their actions, the only reasonable assumption is that abuses of power and deplorable incidents will continue.

After all, without the police’s dash cameras, we wouldn’t know about the incident wherein an officer brutally assaulted a 66-year-old man with dementia for no apparent reason or when two officers attacked a 22-year-old emotionally disturbed man who was not threatening, resisting or otherwise doing anything that would justify the actions.

However, police are able to turn these devices off, which means that it is absolutely vital that citizens’ right to film police in public be preserved and protected as much as possible.

I recommend you contact your state representatives and point out this legislation and how important it is to protect this right. Maybe they can use it as “model legislation” like that put for by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), which works with corporations to craft bills given directly to legislators.

NATO’s Slow Genocide in Libya: Syria is Next

Land Destroyer Report

What the world has to look forward to if NATO and the UN gets its way in Syria.
by Tony Cartalucci

April 19, 2012 – While Qatari government propaganda outlet Al Jazeera is busy whitewashing the NATO-led terrorist take-over of Libya with “documentaries” like “Gaddafi: The Endgame – State of Denial,” depicting the evisceration of one of Africa’s most developed nation-states as a pro-democracy revolution yielding a promising tomorrow – Libya in reality has been plunged into perpetual violence, destabilization, and division. And as militants battle each other while carving the once unified Libya into a myriad of fiefdoms, genocidal death squads continue a campaign of extermination nationwide.

Image
: The people of Tawargha are Libyans and have been Libyan for generations, settling there from sub-Saharan Africa. They have been brutally persecuted by the NATO-armed terrorists now running Libya. In Syria, expect these to be Alawite, Christian, and secular faces.

….

One group of Libyans hit hardest are the people of Tawargha – who were either exterminated or exiled from their city of 10,000-30,000 during the NATO-led destruction of Libya last year. Since then, their refugee camps have been raided, and survivors who have not yet fled Libya are being systematically imprisoned, tortured, and murdered.

Now, the very network of corporate-funded and directed NGOs charged with “human rights advocacy,” who assisted the Libyan rebels in willfully lying to the world over violations of “human rights” in the lead up to NATO’s military intervention, are finally reporting the widespread atrocities being carried out by the rebels themselves. In fact, organizations like Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Amnesty International, both funded by convicted criminal and Wall Street speculator, George Soros, began reporting such atrocities back in 2011, but only long after NATO bombs were already falling on Libya and the process of “regime change” was already irreversible. And, at critical junctures, such as the sieges of Bani Walid and Sirte, where NATO itself was committing systematic war crimes by air in tandem with terrorist forces on the ground – organizations like HRW and Amnesty International were altogether mute.

http://libya360.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/sirte-after-nato-bombardments.jpg

Image: The desolate Libyan city of Sirte after NATO’s months-long siege – the tragic aftermath of a UN-sanctioned “humanitarian war.” Not a word regarding NATO’s blockade and bombardment of these cities has been mentioned by either HRW or Amnesty International in any terms resembling the rhetoric they used to justify NATO’s intervention in March of 2011.

….

Now though, with Syria next on the chopping block, many around the world are looking at the “progress” made in Libya to see if the UN and NATO’s proposal for military intervention is justified, warranted, or feasible. What they see is a patchwork of terrorist regimes butchering people systematically, infighting, making duplicitous, self-serving deals with foreign firms and otherwise running the nation into the ground.

Amnesty International, a full-year too late, has published a report titled, “Libya: NTC must investigate death of another Tawargha man under torture,” in regards to the latest case in the NTC’s systematic genocide of the people of Tawargha – a city now rendered a “ghost town.” HRW had published a report last week titled, “Libya: Wake-Up Call to Misrata’s Leaders,” also regarding the systematic genocide of the people of Tawargha. Ironically, both Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International are giving all inquiring minds a look behind the curtain as to how exactly they are distorting other conflicts – including Syria today.

From the Beginning, Libyan Rebels were Known War Criminals

Long before the first NATO bombs dropped on Libya, genuine geopolitical analysts including Dr. Webster Tarpley of Tarpley.net, noted that the Libyan “rebels” were in fact notoriously brutal racists and led by militias belonging to a listed international terrorist organization responsible for violence not only in Libya, but in Afghanistan and Iraq. On March 1, 2011 Dr. Tarpley spoke on the Alex Jones show warning that Libyan rebels were lynching black Libyans, hailed from Al Qaeda, and that the overall agenda of destabilizing and possibly intervening militarily across the Arab World was to implement “chaos, civil war, and the division of countries,” along with the installation of weak puppet-regimes.

Just days after NATO began its military operations against Libya in mid-March of 2011, Dr. Tarpley confirmed that the Libyan rebels were led by the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), claimed by West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) to have been involved in fighting Western troops in both Afghanistan and Iraq before returning to Libya to then be armed, trained, and led by Western forces in the overthrowing of Muammar Qaddafi.

During the initial phases of NATO’s intervention, HRW and Amnesty International were complicit in covering these facts up and instead focused on lending legitimacy to the now confirmed lies of the NTC regarding human rights abuses perpetrated against them by the Libyan government. It wasn’t until July of 2011 that HRW would admit that Libyan rebels were carrying out systematic abuses of their own, and even then they were whitewashed and excused. And while Human Rights Watch now admits that what the Libyan NTC is doing to the Tawargha people amounts to “crimes against humanity,” they could have just as easily drawn such conclusions backed with ample evidence before NATO intervened militarily and rendered moot the entire “humanitarian” “responsibility to protect” doctrine the entire war was disingenuously based on.

In retrospect, we are meant to believe these organizations simply made a mistake and could not have possibly known the rebels would turn out to be worse human rights violators than those they sought to replace.

HRW & Amnesty Repeating “Mistakes” in Syria, No Mistake

That HRW and Amnesty International appear to be making the exact same mistakes in Syria, even as they finally admit the crimes of the “pro-democracy” rebels in Libya a year later and tens of thousands of lives too late, is certainly no mistake. This is exactly the purpose both organizations are meant to serve along with a myriad of other faux-NGOs – to lend legitimacy to both the Syrian terrorists and the governments of the West arming and directing them as they carry out what is essentially a campaign of foreign military conquest.

The first admissions of Syrian rebels committing atrocities have likewise come a full-year after unrest was triggered in 2011. Human Rights Watch admitted in their report, “Syria: Armed Opposition Groups Committing Abuses,” that Syrian rebels are kidnapping, torturing, and executing people, many of whom have been confirmed to be civilians. Again, geopolitical analysts have stated since the unrest began in 2011 that Syria’s opposition likewise represented not genuine “pro-democratic” forces, but rather proxies for foreign interests, many linked to extremist groups including Al Qaeda, and with Libya’s LIFG commander Abdul Hakim Belhaj literally pledging cash, weapons, and men to the Syrian rebels’ and NATO’s cause.

Indeed, Syria is destined not for a stable democratic-tomorrow, but rather the same division, destruction, chaos, and genocide now rampant across Libya, where self-serving traitors simultaneously sell their nation out from under its people while eliminating their competition through violence and terrorism. As NATO and the UN attempt to court Syria’s ruling business and government cliques, it would be wise for Syrians to look at Libya as an example of just how much worse it can get and the necessity to remain unified against what has been planned from the very beginning to be the end of Syria.

That the West’s war machine extends not only around the world in the form of vast military assets, but with an immense media infrastructure to propagate their agenda, and a gargantuan network of NGOs funded and directed to subvert every form of national institution should be a big enough clue for stake-holders within besieged nation-states that the West has neither the need nor the desire to “share” once they prevail.

Stand United, or Fall Divided: Basic Game Theory

Strategists in the West approach each targeted nation, including Libya and now Syria, employing a form of game theory assuming that those they interact with, friend and foe alike, “play” using the dominant strategy – meaning, each “player” picks the best strategy resulting in the maximum benefit for themselves only, regardless of how other “players” play. This means that the West approaches two opposition factions in any given nation, makes their intentions of moving in known, and offers each the chance to defect. Defectors are given calculated benefits and losses, while their opposition will be eliminated entirely. While in reality, both factions stand the most to gain if they thwart the vastly superior West from plundering their nation, neither considers this an option because of a combination of intellectual flaws, thus both will lose more, even under the most favorable outcomes.

The West specifically targets and favors those faction with the most flaws in character, intellect, motivation etc., as in any conflict, those ruled by emotions and irrational methodology are infinitely easier to manipulate.

In Libya, had the rebels of Cyrenaica worked with Qaddafi to expel foreign encroachment and worked to divide an intact and unified Libya’s wealth amongst themselves, they would have both vastly benefited more than even the sole victors are now. Instead, the West was able to prey on the arrogance, ideology, animosity, ignorance, and prejudices of both factions, wearing both down, dividing the remaining victor, and will, in time, eventually even eliminate them altogether. The same can be seen playing out in the perpetually divided Iraq and the same will certainly happen in Syria.

The age old axiom of standing united, or falling divided, is just as relevant today as ever. Understanding the true fault-lines running through humanity, between the global corporate-financier oligarchy and everyone else, and disallowing artificial fault-lines to be imposed upon us allows us to stand united against our true enemies and prevail. The moment we begin fighting amongst ourselves, regardless of who prevails, we all ultimately lose.

While the oppressive environment of today’s schools do provide a window onto the increasingly militarized police state that America is becoming, the idea that the school system could be used as a tool for inculcating a national identity and taming a traditionally independent population is by no means a new one. In fact, as any careful study of the books and quotations of the western school systems progenitors will show, the modern idea of schooling was formulated specifically to create a nation of intellectually crippled, docile workers, who would be more dependent on authoritarian systems of control and more easily manipulatable by the ruling class.
