Dodgeball now banned in public schools as nanny state goes insane

Natural News
April 1, 2013

(NaturalNews) The nanny state mentality is becoming more institutionalized in America as evidenced by the recent decision to ban the age-old gym class game of “Dodgeball” in one New Hampshire school – though trust me, others will follow suit.

In an incredible four to one decision, the five-member school board panel at Windham School voted to ban the “classic gym class game” which “has been a rite of passage for years” for kids – not to mention a whole lot of fun – according to CBSBoston. At the same time, the board voted to end all other so-called “human target” activities – games with names like “Bombardment” and “Slaughter.”

“It’s almost turning into a nanny state,” said school board member Dennis Senibaldi, the lone school board member with enough sanity left to vote against the ban. “What happens when they replace that game with something different that another group doesn’t want to play, do we eliminate that group of games?”

Yes, Dennis. The answer is, appallingly, yes.

Didn’t you know? Dodgeball equals bullying

Oh, of course there were lots of touchy-feely reasons for banning a game that has been around longer than most board members have been alive, to be sure. They include a handful of complaints by whiny parents, who claimed their kids were being “bullied” – targeted by the other kids during Dodgeball games. After “studying” the issue, a “special committee” said the games should go away. After all, we can’t be teaching our kids to be competitive or to learn how to adapt to adversity and overcome because, you know, the world plays be the same rules as the Autobot Society.

Needless to say, not a few students were stunned by the decision.

“I think they’re really fun because they’re just soft balls so it doesn’t hurt if it hits you,” sixth-grade student Lindsey Stagg, who – at her tender age – spoke more truth and sanity then the four lunatics and their “special panel” who voted to end the traditional game.

Stephanie Wimmer, the board’s vice chair, told WBZ-TV the board is constantly “looking at our curriculum” for changes. Sure.

“We spend a lot of time making sure our kids are violence free,” Windham superintendent Dr. Henry LaBranche lectured. “Here we have games where we use children as targets. That seems to be counter to what we are trying to accomplish with our anti-bullying campaign.”

All of a sudden, Superintendent LaBranche?

“It’s an elimination game,” said Andrew Mead, program manager at the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. “Games like Dodgeball and Tag don’t keep kids involved and physically active. They objectify slower students who don’t catch as well.”

Raising a generation of pansies who can’t handle adversity

Objectify? How about motivate? Challenge? Concepts that encourage those who don’t play so well to find ways to be better?

What’s next, ending tackle football, basketball and track because, gee, some kids are just more physically talented than others?

There are alternative solutions other than simply banning an obviously popular activity. How about an “opt-out” clause, board members? Let kids who are getting “bullied” opt-out of this ultra-violent contact sport and do something else during gym class. That way, kids who still want to play can play. Why do you have to ban the activity?

Do you see where all of this nannyism is leading?

We are teaching an entire generation of kids that a) equality means equal outcomes, not equal opportunity; b) excelling at something should not be rewarded but criticized and the playing field “leveled;” c) that they should not have to face difficulty or adversity in life (and we wonder why so many of our kids are on psychotropic drugs); and d) choice, opportunity and freedom are archaic notions that have no place in “modern society.”

Meanwhile, children in the rest of the real world are still living in it. Perhaps that is part of the reason why the U.S. lags so far behind those countries in so many categories.

County Commission Deadlocks, 4-4, on Opposing NDAA

P.A.N.D.A. People Against The NDAA
March 26, 2013

Little by little, the 2012 NDAA is sneaking into the mainstream media. Battle after battle is being waged across the country to combat this ridiculous law.

Two weeks ago, in Lenawee County, MI, the County Commission deadlocked 4-4 on passing anti-NDAA legislation. Although 4 commissioners, including Commissioner Cletus Smith, voted in favor of liberty, several others demonstrated complete ignorance of the issue at hand.
What were some of the assumptions made by these Commissioners, who voted against the rights of the people?
Commissioner Chris Wittenbach:

“It’s not going to have much impact one way or another,”

Although this legislation won’t jump off the page and stand between a military officer and a suspect, it does provide a deterrent to enforcing the NDAA and its detention power in Lenawee County. Much like the Bill of Rights does not keep our rights from being violated, but it does provide a deterrent, and a foundation to preserve them.

Commissioner David Stimpson:

“I absolutely don’t want to comment on this. It’s absolutely ridiculous for us to discuss this”

He’s right. It is entirely ridiculous for anyone to be discussing the indefinite military imprisonment, execution, or torture of anyone without charge or trial in America. It’s like a bad dream to be talking about America like she’s turning into Stalin’s Russia…yet we are.

Ridiculous situations call for appropriate responses. It’s ridiculous for us to be talking about this, but since we have been forced to, we must respond to protect the rights of the people.

Stimpson again:

Stimpson said federal courts have already upheld the constitutionality of the National Defense Authorization Act. Voting to oppose the law would violate commissioners’ oaths to uphold the law, he said.”

Firstly, although Federal Courts have upheld the Constitutionality of previous NDAA’s, the 2012 NDAA has been declared unConstitutional by the 4th District Court and Judge Katherine B. Forrest.

Secondly, the Commissioner’s oath is not to uphold the law. It is to uphold the Constitution. The Michigan Oath of Office reads as follows:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this State, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of  _____________ according to the best of my ability.

Nowhere in the Oath of Office does it say an elected official must uphold the law. Voting to oppose an unConstitutional law is not a violation of the Oath, it is a requirement of it.
Commissioner Collins:
“I don’t want to support anything that’s opposed to a constitutional rule”
Not only is the NDAA blatantly unConstitutional to any common man who reads it, but a Federal District Court has already declared the same. The link to that case was provided in the materials given to the commissioners.

The objections posed here demonstrate a clear misunderstanding of the 2012 NDAA.It’s time to shift the County Commission’s views on this, and we will be taking action. PANDA will work with the Lenawee County Commission to address these concerns, and restore Constitutional Governance in Michigan…one County at a time.

Watch out for an Action Alert on this soon…we may need it.

Police In Small Nova Scotia Town Receive Tank From DND

March 27, 2013

With a population of 9,562 (2011 census) the town of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia is truly a picturesque eastern Canadian township. A quaint looking town, with a beautiful river running through the middle of it, surrounded by beautiful countrysides, and a long and rich history. Definitely not a place that one would look at and say “WOW” the crime rates must be crazy there!

Apparently the New Glasgow police and the department of national defense do not see it that way.

New Glasgow police force gets armoured vehicle
thechronicleherald.ca

“the New Glasgow Police Service is the province’s first force to get its hands on an armoured military vehicle.

Defence Minister Peter MacKay, the Central Nova MP, dropped off the Cougar Light Armoured Vehicle, stripped of its weaponry, on the weekend.

“It may never be used, but if it’s needed, we will have the capability,” said Const. Ken Macdonald, spokesman for the police service, on Monday.

“It will be employed with our emergency response team. Its main purpose will be as a defensive tool, in case we need to go into a hostile situation to rescue fellow officers or victims.”

According to the Canadian American Strategic Review, Canada took delivery of its first Cougar in 1977. The six-wheeled vehicles, boasting a turret capable of firing high-explosive shells, saw service on Canadian peacekeeping missions to Somalia and the Balkans. The vehicles are no longer in active service with the military.”

Here is a photo of the vehicle the New Glasgow police received.

In comparison here is the tank in military service.

What business does a police force have using a military tank? Especially when it is such a small town? They don’t! When I see stories like this one, it just makes me wonder how far down the (police state) rabbit hole this country is going to fall. Before people start to actually realize what is happening around them.

Dr. Jim Garrow is a renowned author and whistleblower who has been nominated for a Nobel peace prize for his humanitarian work. He is the author of The Pink Pagoda: One Man’s Quest to End Gendercide in China.

He has spent over $25 million over the past sixteen years rescuing an estimated 40,000 baby Chinese girls from near-certain death under China’s one-child-per-couple policy by facilitating international adoptions. He is the founder and executive director of the Bethune Institute’s Pink Pagoda schools, private English-immersion schools for Chinese children. Today he runs 168 schools with nearly 6,300 employees.

Dr Garrow was recently contacted by a high ranking military official who implored him to reveal the truth about a “litmus test” that is being proposed by the Obama administration to the military asking the question “will you shoot Americans if they won’t give you their guns?”
