Israeli Activists Protest Against Israeli Military and Gaza Operation

By JG Vibes

November 19, 2012

People all over the world have been protesting against the military actions in Gaza all week, there have even been protests within the colony of Israel among Israeli citizens.

There are many people in Israel who understand the situation and don’t buy in to the government propaganda as past generations have.

According to Press TV:

“Nearly 150 Israeli activists have staged a demonstration in Tel Aviv to protest against the Isralei regime’s airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip.

The demonstrators, who rallied at Tel Aviv’s Habima square on Saturday night, slammed the military aggression as part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “election campaign.”

They chanted, “Children in Sderot and Gaza want peace.” They also chanted slogans against the “occupation” of Palestinian territories by the Israeli regime.

Earlier on Wednesday, anti-war activists also held a similar demonstration outside the house of Israeli Minister for Military Affairs Ehud Barak in Tel Aviv, calling him the “No. 1 terrorist” in the Israeli regime.

At least 50 Palestinians have been killed and more than 400 others wounded since the beginning of the recent Israeli air strikes against the Gaza Strip on Wednesday. Many women and children are among the casualties.

Israeli has authorized the mobilization of up to 75,000 reservists, preparing for a possible ground invasion of Gaza.”

For well over a year now peace activists in Palestine and Iran have been teaming up with other peace activists in Israel and the United States to spread a message of love and unity among people of all geographical locations…..regardless of what all the crazy politicians say.

One of the most popular of these efforts is the Iran loves Israel and Israel loves Iran campaign, which started out as a viral Facebook phenomena where Iranians and Israelis would send messages of love to one another and reassure each other that the hateful rhetoric put forward by governments and media outlets are totally out of line with the true feelings of the average person.

Wars belong to the politicians, the weapons manufactures and the bankers, it is their hate and their propaganda that drives the violence in these conflicts.

The people at home just want to live long, happy and peaceful lives.

The following is the front page quote on the Iran Loves Israel web page:

“Nothing about war is healing. It doesn’t plant seeds of change – only of discord and pain. The people of Iran, like our counterparts in Israel, are vibrant, creative, and forward-thinking.

We need a transparent arena where ideas can be exchanged, thoughts developed, and discourse inspired by our similarly ancient cultures.

Although many countries in the Middle East suffer from debilitating international stereotypes, we can unite to transform the media’s image of us as violent and intolerant aggressors to loving and cooperative partners.

As we go through the crucible of our inherited animosities, we can burn away our superficial differences and together emerge with a greater understanding of humanity.”

The Israel Loves Iran web site has an equally positive quote on their front page:

“Once you see your enemy as a human being similar to yourself, being expressing his love and understand he doesn’t hate you as years of propaganda succeed to make you believe, you can never go back to blind hate, then you can start to know each other and you will be ready for peace.”

I am sure that these groups are working hard on awareness efforts to bring these issues to the rest of the world and let people know that the conflict is not between the people but between the governments, so there is no reason for the people to get killed and caught in the middle.

As of right now protests around the world are growing exponentially as the violence escalates in Gaza.

The IntelHub will be paying close attention to all aspects of this issue as the story develops.

Different Groups Join Together Outside Of BBC Headquarters to Protest One-Sided Coverage on Gaza

By JG Vibes

November 18, 2012

For years the mainstream media has failed to present a view of events in the Middle East that is even remotely accurate or balanced.

During the most recent conflicts in Gaza, the western media has been a propaganda mouthpiece for Israel, as many expected, based on what has been seen in the past.

Since the siege on Gaza begin to escalate this week there have been protests popping up all over the world in support of the Palestinian people who are caught in the middle of this brutal, and totally orchestrated conflict.

One of these protests happened to be in front of the BBC headquarters, in answer to the propaganda that the network has been generating, not just now, but in the past as well.

According to a Liverpool Newspaper:

“The protest, organised by Merseyside Friends of Palestine (FOP) and Merseyside Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), comes after a week of escalating violence in the Gaza strip. It was supported by Jews for Justice for Palestinians, students, and local Trade Union leaders, as well as socialist and anarchist groups.

Leaflets handed out by demonstrators asserted a different timeline from the one put forward by Israel, claiming the escalation of conflict has resulted from the killing of Palestinian children playing football by the IDF in two separate incidents at the beginning of November, rather than by rocket fire from Gaza.

The reports of these incidents appear to originate from the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), an independent NGO which receives funding from the Danish and Norwegian states. It is accused by some pro-Israel pressure groups of demonising Israel.

The leaflet included a quote from prominent activist Noam Chomsky, who claimed “news items overwhelmingly focus on the rockets that have been fired from Gaza … what is not in focus is the shelling and bombardments of Gaza.”

Regardless of who fired the first shot, or if the story about the rockets origins are true, it is completely immoral to punish a massive group of people for the actions of a few people who aren’t even connected to them.

This is why wars are fought and billions of people are killed, because actions taken by individuals can ultimately blamed on entire civilizations.

And if entire civilizations can be blamed for something that is serious enough to fight a war over, then ultimately entire civilizations filled with innocent people run the risk of loosing their lives because they were being punished for something that they had nothing to do with.

This is the fundamental lie of war, the idea that it is morally justified to punish large groups of people for the actions of a few unrelated individuals.

‘Next phase of Arab Spring: Jordan’ [video]

Press TV
November 14, 2012

A political analyst tells Press TV that the next phase of the Arab Spring might topple the monarchy in Jordan before other monarchies in the region.

The comments come after people took to the streets in several cities in Jordan, including the capital, to voice their opposition to a government plan aimed at increasing fuel prices. Since last year, people in Jordan have been staging demonstrations across the country, demanding political reform including the election of a prime minister by popular vote and an end to corruption.

Press TV has conducted an interview with Ali al-Ahmed, director of the IGA, to further discuss the issue.

Street battles across Europe as general strike turns violent [video]

Russia Today
November 14, 2012

Hundreds of thousands of Europe’s beleaguered citizens went on strike or snarled the streets of capitals of Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal, at times clashing with riot police, as they demanded that governments stop cutting benefits and create more jobs.

Over 140 people arrested, dozens injured in Spain as mass protests sweep across Europe [videos included]

Russia Today
November 14, 2012

Over 140 people have been arrested and 74 injured, including 43 police officers, as Spanish police react swiftly to reports of property damage and disorderly behavior while mass protests that began in Spain continue to roll out across the EU.

A wave of anti-austerity anger is sweeping across Europe. Spain and Portugal are undergoing general strikes, whereas Greece and Italy are seeing many walkouts.

In Spain – the fourth-biggest eurozone economy, yet with one in four workers unemployed – activists and unions have staged an evening rally outside the parliament in the capital, Madrid.

Police have reportedly fired rubber bullets to disperse protesters in Barcelona and Madrid.

According to the Interior Ministry, at least 142 people have been detained across Spain throughout the day and some 74 were injured in clashes.

Among those detained were a man and a woman from Madrid who were allegedly carrying material to build a bomb, including gasoline, nails, screws and a firecracker, El Mondo reports.

There were more sporadic clashes between riot police and protesters as thousands continued to gather on the central square of Puerta del Sol. Baton-yielding riot police were seen chasing hostile protesters down a central thoroughfare near city hall, where many of the shops have been shuttered in anticipation of potential riots.

After a tense face-off between protesters and a police cordon near the iconic Plaza de Cibeles Square, demonstrators have finally backed down for the time being. RT’s Sara Firth tweeted from the scene: “Just coming off Colon square in Madrid and have heard police are charging at Neptuno Square.”

A total of 232 flights have been canceled across Spain due to the general strike.

Most of the anger has been concentrated on Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, whose cuts in health, education and welfare benefits continue. Rajoy, who won a landslide election victory a year ago, is wrestling with the second-largest budget deficit in the euro region while trying to revive the economy from a five-year slump that pushed the jobless rate to 26 per cent. He is trying to avoid following Portugal, Greece and Ireland into seeking a sovereign bailout. Outrage is also growing over Spaniards losing their homes for failing to keep up with mortgage payments.

In Portugal, roughly 40 towns and cities are being called upon to protest. Strikes are being held to protest measures including wage and pension cuts. State-owned airline TAP SGPS SA has canceled flights. Lisbon’s Metro service was shut and state-owned train operator CP-Comboios de Portugal said most trains will not run.

Italian unions, too, are urging a four-hour work stoppage.

Transportation and shipping will be disrupted throughout the day due to staggered, four-hour walkouts. A nationwide strike will see Italy’s railway employees cease work, while maritime workers are also expected to delay departure times of ships and ferries by four hours. The biggest protest will be held in Rome and is expected to involve around 3,000 protestors.

Greece has called a three-hour walkout and a rally in Athens, as recent decisions by the government to further cuts spending in a bid to secure another tranche of bailout money have not gone down well. Greece has been at the crux of the eurozone crisis, with the country continuously tinkering with a possible default. This past week the government has been trying to further cut spending in order to secure another bailout.

It’s the first time the European Trade Union Confederation has appealed for a day of action that includes simultaneous strike action in four countries and further protests in other countries.

Other countries have also staged walkouts.

The synchronized and simultaneous strikes and protests have already grounded flights, forced schools to close and have shut down transport.
