Stefan Molyneux
Dec 20, 2013

Santa Claus presents an interesting question to parents. What do I tell my children about Santa Claus? Will the story instill them with a sense of wonder? What will happen when they find out Santa is not real? Stefan Molyneux addresses this parenting challenge and discusses the impact of the Santa myth on children.

  2. My mother didn’t lie to us about Santa. She said that her parents lied to her about him, and for the rest of her childhood she worried that someday they would tell her that there really is no God.

Nowadays, scientists tend to equate Santa and God.

That, despite the fact that virtually undetectable dark matter seems to be a larger part of reality than ordinary matter.

That, despite the mind boggling complexity of the commandments in DNA.

That, despite the sense of free will we experience in this supposedly deterministic realm.

    Scientists are the parents now.

They need to stop talking and thinking like rigid fundamentalists and ask if it’s possible that mind is inherent to the Universe, not merely derivative or the “illusion of consciousness.” And refrain from answering the question with speculative emotion before the studies are in.

    Great Video! Thanks!
