For IN the NOW with Anissa Naouai, The Resident discusses how yet another hashtag campaign is making the rounds on Twitter. This time, the goal is to get people to post photos of themselves just waking up and then challenging their friends to do the same, all while donating money to UNICEF to aid Syrian children. Called #WakeUpCall, it hasn’t taken off nearly as much as the Ice Bucket Challenge did, exposing one of two main flaws in hashtag activism.
