Let the Bombings Commence: Two Key Developments in Syria Suggest It’s Go Time

In recent weeks we’ve seen scores of civilian men, women and children massacred in the Syrian towns of Homs and Tremseh, a Turkish (NATO) plane shot down over international airspace, some 10,000 armed insurgents enter the country across the Lebanese border, and what amounts to nothing short of total anarchy and civil war in the streets of Syria that has left an estimated 17,000 people dead. Western nations have condemned the actions of the Syrian government, calling for a peaceful resolution, but some observers suggest that we’ve be doing exactly the opposite, and rather than looking for a peaceful solution, all indicators point to a growing powder keg that’s set to blow at any moment. The Russians were recently caught transferring armaments to the middle east nation amid condemnation from the Obama administration, with Secretary of State Clinton telling Russia they will “pay a price” for their attempts at halting progress in the region.Late last week headlines across the world raised the alert level even higher. According to intelligence reports President Assad has begun mobilizing his weapons of mass destruction arsenal. Though Colon Powell may not be available to show us the location of the WMDs this time around, “intelligence” reports from western agencies indicate that Assad is preparing to deploy chemical weapons, including sarin, cyanida and mustard gas, on the rebellious population of Syria.
The situation is now at a head, and two key developments in the last 24 hours indicate that whatever NATO has planned for Syria – be it a Libyan style no-fly zone or a full on Iraqiesque invasion – will soon come to pass.
First, a final warning was reportedly sent to the Assad government through intelligence back channels that threatened airstrikes on his weapons facilities:
…today, the Syrian ruler was given a “last warning” through intelligence channels in the West to leave the warheads and shells loaded with mustard gas, sarin and cyanide where they are. If he dared move them out of the northern and central locations where he deployed them last week, they would be destroyed from the air.

Second, likely a tell-tale sign that NATO military action will soon be initiated in Syria, several of Assad’s top generals and key security figures have fled the country with their families.
Several high-placed generals bolted Bashar Assad’s inner circle Sunday, July 17, including such key figures as two security services chiefs who were operations commanders of the Alawite Shabiha militia plus the former head of Syria’s chemical and biological administration who took six other generals with him. They all fled to Turkey and defected. A fourth senior general from another security service was assassinated in Aleppo.
…
1. They all managed to spirit their families out of Syria well before they absconded themselves, an operation that must have required weeks of careful and secret preparation. The failure of Assad’s many-tentacled, clandestine agencies to discover what was up and foil the walkouts, attests to serious lapses in their notorious efficiency.
2. All the defectors served in Damascus at the regime’s nerve center for suppressing the revolt.
3. They all made tracks for Beirut before making their way to Turkey. Neverthetheless, the extensive spy networks run by Iran and Hizballah in the Lebanese capital failed to pick up on the city’s use as a way station for Syrian defectors in flight to Turkey.
4. Despite their active roles in crushing the civil uprising in Syria, those generals clearly hoped to escape the consequences of their actions and becoming liable for prosecution. The Red Cross Committee in Geneva, the first international organization to call the violence in Syria a full-blown civil war, made it clear Sunday, July 15, that international humanitarian law applied henceforth throughout the country and provided a basis for war crimes prosecution, especially if civilians were attacked.

Top level military and intelligence officials within the Assad government are bugging out after reports surfaced that chemical weapons are in play and “last” warnings from the west have been issued.
We’ve seen similar circumstances before, in Iraq, where those who didn’t defect had their names and pictures placed on a deck of cards and were hunted down by Western forces. It looks as if the Syrians see the writing on the wall and don’t want to end up in front of an international war crimes tribunal or at the business end of a drone strike.
UN / NATO military action is coming to Syria, and it could very easily lead to a global crisis that pits western nations against Russia and China, who have been in solidarity with the Assad government.
As we’ve suggested before, it’s only a matter of time before the Russians and Chinese finally step in to counter the hegemony of western powers in the oil-rich middle east.
Many have pointed to Iran as being the breaking point and potential catalyst for World War III.
What if it’s Syria? And, what if it starts in the next few months?

The Destabilization of Pakistan [video]
Global Research TV
July 3, 2012
As relations between Islamabad and Washington reach an all-time low, the ongoing debate of reopening US/NATO supply routes that traverse through Pakistani territory remains in question. US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta recently acknowledged the fact that America is waging war in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region, stating that Washington is “losing patience” with Islamabad, and that Pakistan should do more to combat terrorist entities such as the Haqqani Network.
As civilians are indiscriminately killed under heavy drone assaults from the United States, a separatist movement in Balochistan, a province encompassing western Pakistan, eastern Iran, areas of southern Afghanistan, directly threatens China’s commercial shipping activities in the Indian Ocean.
As President Asif Zardari calls for Islamabad’s full membership into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Pakistan’s response to its issues of internal insurgency and separatism may shape its foreign policy for years to come.

Experiment – Derail Soros Anti-Syria Consensus Generator
July 14, 2012 – AVAAS is a website that offers up petitions that suspiciously support the aims and aspirations of Western corporate-financier interests, couched in “progressive” pro-democracy, pro-human rights rhetoric. Their most recent petition, “India and US – Stop Syria’s death dealer” aims at shaming Russian armament companies doing business with Syria, while mentioning nothing of the West or the Gulf State despots arming anti-government terrorists.
An experiment to see if this “consensus generator” can be derailed involves signing the petition, but instead of using your name, you insert an anti-war message such as “Hillary Clinton is a War Criminal.” It will show up as seen below in the lower right under “recent signers.” AVAAS minders will find it difficult to hand the petition over to “India and the US” covered in anti-war messages – hijacking this disingenuous petition and turning it into the sentiments of the real majority.
All you need to do is go to this link here, fill in an anti-war message where it says “Name,” use an email you don’t mind people knowing about, and select a country. Press send, reload and see your anti-war message pop-up under “recent signers.”
If it works – this strategy could be used on similarly disingenuous petitions – removing yet another insidious “people power” tool from the global elite’s box. Though no update has been made since June – “people” are still signing it, and the petition is still active.
The Libyan Election Farce
All candidates are neo-imperial candidates – Wall Street proxy Jibril of “National Forces Alliance” presumed winner.
by Tony Cartalucci
July 9, 2012 – Ideally the West would like to install “liberal” pro-globalist candidates into power in each of the nations it has destabilized and destroyed during its premeditated, engineered “Arab Spring.” In the case of Egypt where Mohammed ElBaradei was sufficiently exposed and his presidential aspirations effectively derailed, the West’s Muslim Brotherhood proxies made for a viable second option.
In Libya, a similar scenario has unfolded with two tiers of Western proxies poised to take power – pro-globalist technocrats like US-educated Mahmoud Jibril (Gibril) Elwarfally’s National Forces Alliance, and of course NATO’s terrorist proxies within the Muslim Brotherhood along with Al Qaeda-linked Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) warlords like Abdul Hakim Belhaj.
In Egypt where relative economic and social stability returned after the brief chaos and violence of the early 2011 protests, the alternative media was able to sufficiently expose and disrupt “liberal” candidate ElBaradei. In Libya, the nation has been plunged into nationwide lawlessness, violence, and sweeping genocide by sectarian extremists, tribal confrontations, and militant opportunists. The people of Libya have been too busy defending themselves and desperately fighting for their own immediate survival to function as a nation-state, let alone scrutinize candidates politically before the farcical Western-hyped elections.
In other words, no matter who wins the so-called elections in war-torn Libya, the West has ensured all the candidates are loyal proxies, and will most assuredly have one of these proxies in place to guide Libya according to its own agenda rather than that of the Libyan people.
The New York Times has already proclaimed in its article, “Party Led by Pro-Western Official Claims Lead in Libya,” that Jibril’s party is the likely winner. Readers might recall that in May of 2011, Jibril had made a pilgrimage back to the United States where he received his higher education and spent years teaching in Pittsburgh, to speak before the corporate-financier funded Brookings Institution (Brookings page here) about turning Libya into a “lake” to develop the skills of Africans to serve the needs of markets in the European Union.
Jibril will serve not as an “elected representative” of the Libyan people, but as a technocratic proxy implementing not only the West’s designs for Libya, but carrying out its role in recolonizing and exploiting both the vast populations and resources of the entire African continent. Jibril, or whoever the West finally installs into power will not only carry out this agenda, they will do so under the guise of a “democratic mandate.” While impressionable and/or duplicitous people the world over applaud Libya’s elections, they are but the most superficial attempt to spin NATO’s genocidal destruction of one of the most developed nations in Africa.
And despite these elections, Libya will remain largely lawless and a terrorist safe-haven by design so that it may continue serving its purpose as a weapons, fighter, and cash hub for NATO militant proxies throughout the region, particularly verses Syria.
Libya’s “transitional government” led by Western big oil representative Abdurrahim el-Keib had already played a significant role in carrying out Western designs against other geopolitical targets throughout North Africa and the Middle East, including Mali and Syria where Libya has shipped both weapons and fighters to augment NATO-backed terrorists seeking to overthrow these targeted governments. Libya under el-Keib has also lent significant political support to the West’s Arab World agenda. Along with the government of Tunisia – led at the time by US funded “activist” Moncef Marzouki, Libya had withdrawn recognition of Syria’s government. The US-installed Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt has likewise backed Western designs throughout the region, most recently backing US calls for intervention in Syria.
What the uninformed public believes it is seeing is a transition to “democracy” across the Arab World and each of these nations joining together to ensure such a transition in remaining “dictatorships” takes place. It might be mistakenly believed then that the United States is merely “reacting” to this unfolding paradigm in a supportive capacity.
What has happened in reality is that the so-called “Arab Spring” was planned by the West as early as 2008 with activists literally flown to the United States to receive training, funding, and equipment with which to return to their home countries and begin a campaign of coordinated destabilization. It was under this cover of seemingly legitimate peaceful protesting that more violent elements, organized as early as 2007 or even earlier (as was the case in Libya), began violently overthrowing regimes targeted, according to US Army General Wesley Clark, as early as 1991, with a complete list documented as early as 2001. This list, provided during General Clark’s talk at the Commonwealth Club of California, October 3, 2007, included seven nations slated by the Pentagon for destabilization and destruction: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.
Libya’s elections are therefore an absolute farce in the wake of a premeditated Western military campaign aimed at the entire Arab World – the elections a motion gone through to couch the creation of a Western client regime within the perceived legitimacy elections may grant it in the minds of both Libyans and global public opinion.

False Flag Alert: US Claims Syria “Moving Nerve Gas Out of Storage”
NATO-FSA False Flag Alert.
by Tony Cartalucci
July 13, 2012 – Citing no evidence, and on the heels of yet another baseless “activist” report claiming a massacre has taken place in Homs, nameless US officials claimed to the Wall Street Journal that the Syrian government is taking chemical weapons out of storage for possible use “against anti-regime rebels or civilians, possibly in an ethnic cleansing campaign.”
Despite claiming to possess this information, the US officials refused to disclose the location these weapons were being moved to, nor the actual nomenclature of the weapons, stating only “they are most worried about Syria’s stockpiles of sarin gas.”
Image: The symbols for nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. The West is the undisputed champion of deploying each of these weapons of mass destruction against their enemies – from nuclear bombs upon Japan, to depleted uranium and white phosphorus upon Iraq, to Agent Orange all across Vietnam – it stands to reason that these weapons would eventually end up in the hands of the their proxies as well.
In mid-June, Russia Today had warned of a possible false-flag attack by NATO-backed militants operating under the cover of the so-called “Free Syrian Army” employing chemical weapons pilfered from devastated, militant-overrun Libya. The aim of the operation would be to create a justifiable impetus for overt Western military intervention, citing the use of chemical weapons against civilian populations as the most extreme attempt yet to manufacture otherwise nonexistent consensus for a repeat of NATO’s operations in Libya.
In, “WARNING: Possible NATO-FSA False Flag Attack in Syria,” it was explained how NATO’s militant proxies possessed not only the means and capabilities of carrying out such an attack, but the motivation and precedents of doing so – with the FSA already admittedly carrying out a deadly, nationwide terrorist bombing campaign killing scores of civilians per attack. The dissemination of Libyan weapons into the hands of militants operating in Syria has also been confirmed by governments and international media on numerous occasions, as has the fact that Libyan militants themselves (and here) have joined NATO’s covert operations to overthrow the government of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
The Syrian government has withstood over a year of withering, brutal attacks, economically, politically, diplomatically, throughout the Western controlled corporate media, and militarily by the West. One might then be troubled to fathom why the government would then use chemical weapons sure to provide the impetus needed to leap over the obstructions placed in the West’s way throughout the UN Security Council by Russia and China. The answer is simple, the Syrian government is not pondering the use of chemical weapons, NATO and its terrorist proxies are.
This, along with a recent roll-out of preplanned, over-hyped “defections” seeks to psychologically stampede the Syrian government from power, and if necessary, create a pretext to do so militarily.
Kofi Annan: International Community Has Failed Syria
Globalization exposed as self-serving, driven by elitist special interests.
by Tony Cartalucci
July 8, 2012 – Whatever role the UN’s Kofi Annan was playing, it appears that at least his latest statements have in fact been neutral, with the Western media taking it upon itself to then twist his comments out of context by constructing a fictitious narrative of mind-bending proportions. The London Guardian, in true propagandist form stated in an article titled, “Kofi Annan attacks Russia and west’s ‘destructive competition’ over Syria,” that “Kofi Annan has issued a blunt warning that Syria will face a spreading civil war and risk a spillover of the conflict unless Russia, the west and Arab states end their “destructive competition” to force a ceasefire and launch a political process that the opposition insists must see President Bashar al-Assad step down.”
By mentioning Russia first and by presenting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s resignation as the only viable option to end the violence, the Guardian attempts to spin Annan’s comments as an attack on solely the Syrian government and its international supporters, which include Russia, China, and a large bloc of South American nations, collectively representing over a billion people.
Image: Coincidence? As US State Department Secretary Hillary Clinton was attending a “Friends of Syria” conference in Paris to map out the next leg of violent Western-backed subversion against Damascus, US State Department-led Amnesty International staged a “march” in the streets of Paris featuring protesters carrying the old French colonial flag of Syria in support of NATO’s militant proxies. Manufacturing public consensus where none exists is a specialty of modern Western imperialism. (Photo: AFP)
Only toward the end of the Guardian’s article does it report the rest of Annan’s comments, which state, “they [the west] accuse the Russians of arming the [Syrian] government. The Russians accuse them of arming the opposition and flooding the place with weapons. This is instead of coming together to see what can be done.” The Guardian then admits that Saudi Arabia and Qatar are financing and arming NATO’s proxies, the so-called “Free Syrian Army” (FSA) while the US is coordinating with them and supplying them with “communications equipment.”
The Guardian then makes the case that Annan’s even scant neutrality equates to endorsing genocide. While it may be interpreted as an attack on Annan – it should be remembered that Annan himself is a member of the elitist establishment driving Syria’s destabilization, and that his “peace plan” was never intended to be implemented, but only stall for time to increase covert military support for terrorist proxies where overt NATO intervention could not be achieved through the UN Security Council. The West’s goal is to “bleed” Syria to death.
The Guardian of course is not alone. This narrative is directed by the US State Department and the British Foreign Office and echoed throughout the Western corporate-media. The Washington Post likewise skewed reality and placed words into the mouth of Annan declaring that efforts for finding a peaceful political solution in Syria “have failed.” The Washington Post contradicts its own reportage, now claiming that “no countries are known” to be arming the FSA, when its own article, “Syrian rebels get influx of arms with gulf neighbors’ money, U.S. coordination,” clearly stated otherwise, clearly implicating both the Gulf States of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as well as the United States itself. It is left to readers to determine whether the Washington Post is suffering from incompetent editors or is engaged in a campaign of fraudulent dissembling and war propaganda.
The Washington Post then disingenuously cites the so-called “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights,” referring to it as an “organization” when in reality it is a single man, Rami Abdelrahman, living in England, who had left Syria 10 years ago and openly admits he seeks the downfall of Syrian President Assad. Abdelranhman is known to be directly coordinating his propaganda campaign with the British Foreign Office and has been photographed by Reuters skulking in and out of Foreign Secretary William Hague’s office.
Photo: From Reuters: “Rami Abdelrahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, leaves the Foreign and Commonwealth Office after meeting Britain’s Foreign Secretary, William Hague, in central London November 21, 2011. REUTERS/Luke MacGregor”
Finally, the Washington Post cited a farcical “march” in Paris that coincided with the “Friends of Syria” conference – a neo-imperial conglomeration of Western nations and their Gulf State proxies leading efforts to destabilize Syria through violent subversion. The Washington Post fails to mention that the march was in fact organized by Amnesty International, led by the US State Department’s own Suzanne Nossel, and the US State Department’s National Endowment for Democracy (NED) funded Federation for Human Rights (FIDH). FIDH is also funded by convicted criminal and Wall Street speculator George Soros’ Open Society Institute.
What the Washington Post actually reported on was a staged march organized by members of the “Friends of Syria” conference itself to construct fictitious public consensus for the group and its taking a harder, more interventionist line against Syria. It may also serve as an attempt to further undermine the UN process that has effectively allowed Russia and China to block Western hegemonic ambitions verses Syria.
Image: A visual representation of the National Endowment for Democracy’s corporate-financier ties found across their Board of Directors. Far from “human rights advocates,” they are instead simply leveraging such issues to disguise what is in reality corporate-financier hegemonic expansion.
NED and Open Society’s role in supporting expanded intervention by the West to achieve its long sought after regime change indicates that it is not in fact any sort of “international community” that has engineered and supported the West’s agenda in Syria, but the special interests represented by NED and Open Society – namely the corporate-financier interests of the Fortune 500. This same gambit has been used to one degree or another around the globe in an attempt to harness the perceived legitimacy of NGOs, the extensive propaganda network the Western press maintains, and the concepts of “human rights,” “democracy,” and “freedom” to couch ambitions of neo-imperial global hegemony.
Since it is these special interests that masquerade as the “international community,” then indeed the “international community” has failed Syria – since from the beginning it had every intention to mire Syria in sectarian violence, political destabilization, economic ruination, and eventual social and political collapse. Since 2007, this so-called “international community” has been conspiring against world peace, as duly noted in Seymour Hersh’s New Yorker article, “The Redirection (2007).” In it, it was clearly stated that the United States, Israel, and their Gulf State proxies, particularly Saudi Arabia, were already building an armed secular extremist front with which to wage violent subversion upon Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.
From the US-engineered “Arab Spring” to the extremist violence that has ravaged Libya and now Syria, the West is executing a coordinated, premeditated military and political campaign to conquer by proxy a vast swath of territory extending from North Africa, through the Middle East, and into Central Asia. It is a geopolitical campaign that directly targets all sovereign nation states, and in particular Russia and China in what is only the latest in a long struggle throughout human history by megalomaniacs to establish uncontested global hegemony. As the ploys are overused, their effectiveness has begun to falter and the legitimacy of the West’s actions and “role” is now failing. What we are left with is an overt campaign of military aggression, in direct violation of world peace and any norm of international law, real or contrived.
Globalization on all fronts has been exposed as a method for achieving the goals and aspirations not of humanity, but of a handful of elitist special interests at the expense of the vast majority. Identifying and exposing these interests is key, as is the establishment of genuine grassroots institutions and paradigms of and by the people to replace the faltering and self-serving institutions of globalization.
