Lawsuit: Guards At Rikers Allowed to Rape Inmates with Consent from City Officials

New York, New York – According to a lawsuit filed this week, the city of New York has helped enable the ongoing abuse and rape of several female inmates at the all-female Rose M. Singer Center at Rikers prison. Two women behind the lawsuit, who wish to remain anonymous, say they were both raped on multiple occasions by the same corrections officer, Benny Santiago.

The lawsuit also says that eight other corrections officers were involved in raping women at the prison on a regular basis, and in one case one of the inmates even got pregnant.

According to CNN,

The plaintiffs, represented by the Legal Aid Society, seek damages from Santiago as well as an overhaul of Department of Corrections policy in order to break what they call a “culture of systemic rape.”

Santiago abused the two women in unrestricted areas that were not monitored by security cameras and would wait until after center captains had made their supervisory rounds, which were made at the same time every day, the complaint says.

After reporting the assaults to the staff at the prison, one of the plaintiffs were told that nothing could be done about the attacks.

What In The World Is Happening In Macedonia?

via Activist Post
May 21, 2015

By Brandon Turbeville

In May 2015, protests began erupting in Skopje, Macedonia against the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and his government. The protests, led by Zoran Zaev, were allegedly in response to the massive spying and surveillance of Macedonian officials and other individuals as well as an alleged cover-up of a killing of a young man by police in 2011. The protests were largely focused on the issue of government corruption, with tens of thousands of people in the streets of Skopje, demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation as well as that of other members of his government.

A major protest occurred on May 5 and several other anti-government protests have taken place since then. While some protests have remained peaceful, there has been widespread violence from other demonstrations. On the May 5 protest alone, violent clashes took place between protesters and police with injuries taking place on both sides.

In the days that followed, several Macedonian ministers resigned from their posts, including the Interior Minister. Prime Minister Gruevski, however, has refused to resign, characterizing such a move as cowardly behavior.

On May 17, thousands of protesters once again descended upon the streets of Skopje to demand the ouster of the current government. On May 18, however, thousands more took to the streets to protest in support of the current government and Prime Minister Gruevski.

An anti-government, anti-Gruevski camp has been set up outside government offices and remains there indefinitely with several hundred inhabitants on average.

With such social unrest taking place in Macedonia, one need only look to the NATO/US and George Soros-funded networks to see the hidden hand of the Western Color Revolution apparatus at work.

Macedonia may at first seem an unlikely target of the Anglo-American color revolution apparatus, but the truth is that the small country is now the latest battleground in a proxy war between Russia and the West. Not only are the two sides competing for influence over the domestic affairs and political decisions of the Macedonian government, there is also the question of geopolitical positions and the agenda of the creation of micro-states and mini-states. Most notably, however, is the interest regarding the Balkan Stream pipeline (aka the Turkish Stream Pipeline).

Is Using Encryption Suspicious? Half of America Says ‘Yes’

21st Century Wire says…
[Mar 18, 2015]

It’s official: The US federal government is addicted to spying on its own citizens – a tyrannical vice which is in direct contravention with the US Constution and Bill Of Rights.

Establishment think tank, the Pew Research Center, has found in its latest report the US public does cares about privacy – but has no idea how to protect their data, and which tools they can use.

“Large numbers of Americans say they are anxious about their privacy, and yet, there’s this fairly significant gap in knowledge.”

Some big tech firms appear to be working to change this trend by educating users and marketing new privacy tools. How well they work, and whether we can trust these firms not to collude illegally with US government agencies – is a another matter all together.

The bigger question however – and the one that 21WIRE is interested in – is whether or not those of us who opt for using encrypted products will be profiled by the US government snoops as ‘suspicious’ and will that choice be used against us to assign guilt before the fact? According to Pew’s findings on this, it seems like that is the case.

The second issue is a clandestine one. Are certain companies who are offering ‘encrypted email and communication’ products actually giving the other half of their encryption key over to the NSA – as was the case before? If so, is this level of cooperation illegal, or will it be “protected” as part of a “National Security” program, or even classified?

The Switch

Nearly two years after former government contractor Edward Snowden revealed details of extensive government surveillance programs, a Pew Research report suggests that the news has prompted some Americans to change their approach to online privacy.

The group surveyed about 500 adult Americans, finding that nearly 90 percent of them had heard about government surveillance programs and more than a third of those aware of the programs “have taken at least one step to hide or shield their information from the government,” the report said.

Though the report found that a majority of Americans are skeptical of government surveillance programs, it also found very few are taking the extra step of encrypting the content of their e-mails. In fact, half of those surveyed said using encryption software gives the government enough suspicion to monitor a U.S. citizen’s communications.

Exposed: Ferguson Protesters Were Paid ‘Rent-A-Mobs’

May 19, 2015

It turns out the ‘protesters’ we were seeing in Ferguson, and possibly those in New York and Baltimore, are not angry citizens as we were meant to believe, they are rent-a-mobs who expected to be paid while they cry “no justice, no peace.”

A group in Missouri has been paying protesters $5,000 a month to generate civil unrest in Ferguson, the troubled St. Louis suburb where black youth Michael Brown was killed by a white police officer last August.

Turns out some of the ‘protesters’ haven’t been paid and are demanding what they were promised. They held a sit-in at the offices of Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment (MORE) and posted a demand letter online.

[UPDATE/CORRECTION 21/06/2015 pertaining to a quote I mentioned in this discussion:

“To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family traditions, national patriotism, and religious dogmas.”

Brock Adams, Director UN Health Organization (1945)

According to here, here, here, here, here, and here this quote was actually not from Brock Adams, but rather from a George Brock Chisholm, the first Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).  According to here, this Chisholm quote was from “a Speech given at the, Conference on Education, Asilomar, California, September 11, 1954″.  If anyone finds a copy of this speech, please send me the link through this contact form.]

[UPDATE 27/06/2015:  I remain a voluntarist and do oppose statism – and this was roughly discussed in this Boiler Room episode – however to clarify some interesting points about anarchy and to do justice to the topic, in light of new information that I have recently come across I must say that Clint Richardson raises many good points about statism and sovereignty as he clears up misconceptions about anarchy, statism and voluntarism in this excellent podcast: Debate: Clint Richardson vs. Mark Stevens – “Anarchy: A Modern Fallacy?” – #231 – Gnostic Media]

When Stephen Harper gave a prepared speech to the Israel parliament last year, he equated lack of support for Israel with anti-Semtism. He said: “[T]his is the face of the new anti-Semitism. It targets the Jewish people by targeting Israel and attempts to make the old bigotry acceptable for a new generation. Of course, criticism of Israeli government policy is not in and of itself necessarily anti-Semitic. But what else can we call criticism that selectively condemns only the Jewish state and effectively denies its right to defend itself, while systematically ignoring – or excusing – the violence and oppression all around it?”
