Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 Lured Into A Death Trap?

nsnbc international
Jul 18, 2014

Christof Lehmann (nsnbc) : Who made the decision that Flight MH17 should fly right above a combat zone when the flight used a more southerly route before? Why did the Ukrainian air traffic controller designate an altitude to flight MH17 that was lower than usual? Why did the Ukrainian authorities close the airspace up to 32,000 ft while the route was declared safe by the ICAO? What are the procedures, who took which decisions, when, and why? Was Flight MH17 lured into a deathtrap?

MH17_2014-07-10

Was Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur lured into a well-prepared death trap?

Eyewitnesses reported that at least one missile hit the plane that disintegrated in flight, strewing wreckage and bodies over an at least 1,000 x 1,000 meter wide crash site. (mid-section only, the size of the debris field is several square kilometers).

If the 19-year-old Boeing 777-200 with a reportedly flawless maintenance record was struck by a missile, the event will have left unmistakable forensic evidence.

Radar records can be used to determine the flight-path of the missile or the missiles, say experts. The Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder will tell us more.

Click on the images to enlarge.

The red flags pointing to a missile are:

  • The good maintenance record, in-flight disintegration;
  • The relatively small parts of wreckage;
  • The relatively intact bodies of the 298 passenger and crew, strewn over more than several square kilometers;
  • No emergency call; What ever happened, happened very fast, came without a warning and had an immediate, catastrophic effect;
  • The plane flew right above the area in Ukraine that has seen the most intense fighting in recent days.

MH17_2014-07-15“The likelihood that forensic evidence will be found, that supports the hypothesis that a missile brought down MH17 is above 80 percent” said a professional Danish pilot to us on condition of anonymity.

“The likelihood that it can be determined where the missile was launched from is 75 percent or above”, he said, adding that “none of my colleagues doubts that there was a missile. The question is who fired it, and who is going to get to play the role of the fall guy”.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Eurocontrol and Unanswered Questions.

MH17_2015-07-16Several media reported that Ukrainian authorities had closed the airspace up to 32,000 ft. Malaysia Airlines states that MH17 filed a flight plan, requesting to fly at 35,000ft throughout Ukrainian Airspace which is close to the optimum altitude. Malaysia Airlines continues:

However, an aircraft’s altitude in flight is determined by air traffic control on the ground. Upon entering Ukrainian airspace, MH17 was instructed by Ukrainian air traffic control to fly at 33,000ft. … In April, the International Civil Aviation Organization identified an area over the Crimean peninsula as risky. At no point did MH17 fly into, or request to fly into, this area. At all times, MH17 was in airspace approved by the ICAO.

MH17_2014-07-17

To sum this up. Malaysia Airlines was sure that it was flying through airspace that was approved by the ICAO.

When MH17 entered Ukrainian airspace its pilots were reportedly ordered to go to 33,000ft instead of 35,000ft, as requested in the flight plan, which still would be 1,000 ft above the 32,000 ft to which the Ukrainian authorities reportedly had closed the airspace. 1,000 ft; Not much.

This poses a number of procedural questions. Since Eurocontrol operates under ICAO rules we called the ICAO in Switzerland.

Call one got us to a receptionist and on to an expert who supposedly could answer questions. What we got was an answering machine and a promise to be called back. Call two got us nowhere, because nobody picked up the phone; not even a receptionist. Call three got us through to the same receptionist again who now tried to refer to a press release.

Not good enough. A press spokesman? No, not good enough either! An expert? Yes, and please one who can answer procedural questions pertaining MH17! You’ve got it, what was your phone number again? I’ll make sure someone calls you back.

The kind receptionist got our number, but we still didn’t get the call which we are waiting for and that, even though our questions are really very simple and should not be difficult to answer for the ICAO experts.

Answers to these questions would especially be helpful “before” asking Eurocontrol and the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure additional questions. Here they are, as simple as the get.

  1. Which ICAO protocols does Eurocontrol normally follow to assure that it does not designate airspace to planes, that either has been closed by the Ukrainian government or that is dangerously near such closed airspace?
  2. Which obligations would the Ukrainian authorities have if they closed an airspace below 32,000 ft? Who exactly would have to communicate what, to whom?

Since Eurocontrol and the Ukrainian air traffic controllers, reportedly, designated a flight level only 1,000 ft above reportedly closed airspace; and since MH17 landed in a field, with all of the 298 souls on board killed, possibly due to a missile, I thought that these would be reasonable questions. Questions which should be easy to answer for the ICAO “experts”. Answers to these simple questions would have been helpful before asking Eurocontrol and before asking the Ukrainian government.

We called the Ukrainian Ministry for Infrastructure to ask if they could get us through to someone who could answer some of our questions for our readers or direct us to someone who could.

The first call got us through to a receptionist who registered our phone number, called someone on another line and then tried to connect us to someone who possibly could help.

The call was dropped. We called again, no answer. Third time, no answer. The result was the same the other times so we will try again on Monday; maybe we would be more successful if we called from another phone number? The questions we wanted to ask the Ministry were also very simple.

  1. Which procedures do Ukrainian authorities follow to assure that Eurocontrol and other authorities are appropriately informed about the closure of airspace.
  2. Whether there was someone at the Ministry who could help us identify the authority and provide contact details at that authority that was responsible for changing the routes of flights through Ukrainian airspace.
  3. In particular, we would like to know who exactly was responsible for changing the route of MH17 from a path just North of Crimea in the days between July 7 and July 15, to a more northerly route on July 16, and to an even more northerly route, precisely across the airspace, that allegedly had been closed to an altitude lower than 32,000 ft. An area that has seen the most heavy fighting in Ukraine in the days before the tragic crash.
  4. We would also like to know whether it is correct that the airspace was closed below 32,000 ft, if yes who closed it and why; Who then, would have reported this closure to Eurocontrol, via which channels?
  5. What are the regulations that guide communications between the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of the Interior which is in command of the National Guard and the ADS forces in Ukraine, and the Ministry of Defense, with regard to the safety of airspace?

MH17_2_UkraineWe will be calling the Ministry of Infrastructure again on Monday. By then, they have probably received our e-mail. We included the screen captures of the flighaware software that documents the changed flightpath, so it should be easy to grasp what it’s all about?

We will also call the ICAO again on Monday, because it would be good to know exactly which ICAO procedures Eurocontrol uses or would be supposed to use in a situation as the one that led to the crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17. We will of course also call the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense, Eurocontrol, Amsterdam Airport, and others who can help us and our readers answer the question whether MH17 was lured into a trap or not.

The truth is usually very simple. It’s first when someone tries to cover it up, that things become complicated. The families of the 298 victims have the right to be told the truth. It’s as simple as that.

Doubts Over Ice Wall To Keep Fukushima Safe From Damaged Nuclear Reactors

FUKUSHIMA UPDATE
Jul 13, 2014

via The Guardian / July 14, 2014 / In fading light and just a stone’s throw from the most terrifying scenes during Japan’s worst nuclear accident, engineers resumed their race against time to defeat the next big threat: thousands of tonnes of irradiated water.

If all goes to plan, by next March Fukushima Daiichi’s four damaged reactors will be surrounded by an underground frozen wall that will be a barrier between highly toxic water used to cool melted fuel inside reactor basements and clean groundwater flowing in from surrounding hills.

Up to 400 tonnes of groundwater that flows into the basements each day must be pumped out, stored and treated – and on-site storage is edging closer to capacity. Decommissioning the plant will be impossible until its operator, Tokyo Electric Power [TEPCO] addresses the water crisis.

Last month workers from TEPCO and the construction firm Kajima Corp began inserting 1,550 pipes 33 metres vertically into the ground to form a rectangular cordon around the reactors. Coolant set at -30C will be fed into the pipes, eventually freezing the surrounding earth to create an impermeable barrier.

“We started work a month ago and have installed more than 100 pipes, so it is all going according to plan to meet our deadline,” Tadafumi Asamura, a Kajima manager who is supervising the ice wall construction, said as workers braved rain, humidity and radiation to bore holes in the ground outside reactor No 4, scene of one of three hydrogen explosions at the plant in the early days of the crisis.

But sealing off the four reactors – three of which melted down in the March 2011 disaster – is costly and not without risks. The 32bn-yen (£185m) wall will be built with technology that has never been used on such a large scale.

“I’m not convinced the freeze wall is the best option,” Dale Klein, former head of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and a senior adviser to TEPCO, recently told Kyodo News. “What I’m concerned about is unintended consequences. Where does that water go and what are the consequences of that? I think they need more testing and more analysis.”

The 1,500-metre wall will stay in use until 2020, using enough electricity every year to power 13,000 households, according to officials.

Over the next eight months, 360 workers from TEPCO and Kajima will work in rotating shifts of up to four hours a day, with each shift beginning in the early evening to combat heat exhaustion. Each worker is wrapped in hazardous materials suits and full-face masks, along with tungsten-lined rubber torso bibs for added protection against radiation.

TEPCO’s record of mishaps in the three years since Fukushima Daiichi suffered a triple meltdown suggests the wall project will not be trouble free. The firm has had problems freezing irradiated water – using the same method being used to build the underground wall – that has accumulated in underground trenches, raising concerns that the ice technology is flawed.

Netanyahu and Rahm Emmanuel Agree: Never Let a Crisis Go To Waste

by Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
Jul 18, 2014

While the world is focused on the questions surrounding the Malaysian flight that crashed in Ukraine on July 17 and the aftermath that will result from it, another campaign of genocide in a long list of campaigns of genocide is taking place in Gaza.

After days of both air and sea-based military strikes against Palestinians living Gaza, Israeli tanks have crossed the border and are now pushing even deeper into the tiny sliver of land.

According to Israeli military statements, Israel has called up 48,000 reserve troops as well as 18,000 additional soldiers which were called upon on Thursday, July 17.

So far, the death toll in Palestine has reached around 260. There has been only fatality on the Israeli side, a soldier who was killed in the northern part of Gaza.

Approximately one third of Palestinian casualties are women and children.

All of this occurs, of course, in the face of immense apathy on the part of the Western public or even unfortunately amidst fanatical, albeit misguided, support.

Yet even the activist communities who would have been focused on drawing attention to the slaughter taking place in Gaza have now been drawn off target as they follow the details of a downed plane in Ukraine, an apparent false flag designed to attract world attention and drum up support for a NATO confrontation with Russia.

Clearly, the world oligarchy is not letting a good crisis go to waste.

With this in mind, it is important to remember the reported words of Benjamin Netanyahu, the now Prime Minister of Israel who stated, in 1989 as the then-Deputy Foreign Minister, that “Israel should have exploited the repression of the demonstrations in China [Tiananamen Square], when world attention focused on that country, to carry out mass expulsions among the Arabs of the territories.”[1]

Netanyahu’s statement is, of course, very similar to the sentiment expressed by former Obama Chief of Staff, Chicago Mayor, and former civilian volunteer for the Israeli Defense Forces, Rahm Emmanuel when he stated that “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that, it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

Thus, it is important to remember that, whenever mainstream press outlets begin coverage of a subject that takes on a life of its own – 24 hour a day coverage and constant updates – that, while it may very well be a legitimate issue, it may just as likely be a sleight of hand.

Jul 18, 2014

Russia and American tensions continue to escalate as Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down Thursday in eastern Ukraine along Russia’s border. Without a full investigation, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain and others in the United States government have reached the conclusion Russia was responsible for the deadly attack. Vladimir Putin and Russia deny any involvement, as the mainstream media and the world at large look to assign blame in this horrific situation. Stefan Molyneux decodes the propaganda and presents the facts as they are presently known.

Hamas is a Creation of Mossad

Global Research

Global Outlook, No 2, Summer 2002

Thanks to the Mossad, Israel’s “Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks”, the Hamas was allowed to reinforce its presence in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, Arafat’s Fatah Movement for National Liberation as well as the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression and intimidation

Let us not forget that it was Israel, which in fact created Hamas. According to Zeev Sternell, historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, “Israel thought that it was a smart ploy to push the Islamists against the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO)”.

Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of the Islamist movement in Palestine, returning from Cairo in the seventies, established an Islamic charity association. Prime Minister Golda Meir, saw this as a an opportunity to counterbalance the rise of Arafat’s Fatah movement. .According to the Israeli weekly Koteret Rashit (October 1987), “The Islamic associations as well as the university had been supported and encouraged by the Israeli military authority” in charge of the (civilian) administration of the West Bank and Gaza. “They [the Islamic associations and the university] were authorized to receive money payments from abroad.”

The Islamists set up orphanages and health clinics, as well as a network of schools, workshops which created employment for women as well as system of financial aid to the poor. And in 1978, they created an “Islamic University” in Gaza. “The military authority was convinced that these activities would weaken both the PLO and the leftist organizations in Gaza.” At the end of 1992, there were six hundred mosques in Gaza. Thanks to Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad (Israel’s Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks) , the Islamists were allowed to reinforce their presence in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, the members of Fatah (Movement for the National Liberation of Palestine) and the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression.

In 1984, Ahmed Yassin was arrested and condemned to twelve years in prison, after the discovery of a hidden arms cache. But one year later, he was set free and resumed his activities. And when the Intifada (‘uprising’) began, in October 1987, which took the Islamists by surprise, Sheik Yassin responded by creating the Hamas (The Islamic Resistance Movement): “God is our beginning, the prophet our model, the Koran our constitution”, proclaims article 7 of the charter of the organization.

Ahmed Yassin was in prison when, the Oslo accords (Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government) were signed in September 1993. The Hamas had rejected Oslo outright. But at that time, 70% of Palestinians had condemned the attacks on Israeli civilians. Yassin did everything in his power to undermine the Oslo accords. Even prior to Prime Minister Rabin’s death, he had the support of the Israeli government. The latter was very reluctant to implement the peace agreement.

The Hamas then launched a carefully timed campaign of attacks against civilians, one day before the meeting between Palestinian and Israeli negotiators, regarding the formal recognition of Israel by the National Palestinian Council. These events were largely instrumental in the formation of a Right wing Israeli government following the May 1996 elections.

Quite unexpectedly, Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered Sheik Ahmed Yassin to be released from prison (“on humanitarian grounds”) where he was serving a life sentence. Meanwhile, Netanyahu, together with President Bill Clinton, was putting pressure on Arafat to control the Hamas. In fact, Netanyahu knew that he could rely, once more, on the Islamists to sabotage the Oslo accords. Worse still: after having expelled Yassin to Jordan, Prime Minister Netanyahu allowed him to return to Gaza, where he was welcomed triumphantly as a hero in October 1997.

Arafat was helpless in the face of these events. Moreover, because he had supported Saddam Hussein during the1991 Gulf war, (while the Hamas had cautiously abstained from taking sides), the Gulf states decided to cut off their financing of the Palestinian Authority. Meanwhile, between February and April 1998, Sheik Ahmad Yassin was able to raise several hundred million dollars, from those same countries. The the budget of The Hamas was said to be greater than that of the Palestinian Authority. These new sources of funding enabled the Islamists to effectively pursue their various charitable activities. It is estimated that one Palestinian out of three is the recipient of financial aid from the Hamas. And in this regard, Israel has done nothing to curb the inflow of money into the occupied territories.

The Hamas had built its strength through its various acts of sabotage of the peace process, in a way which was compatible with the interests of the Israeli government. In turn, the latter sought in a number of ways, to prevent the application of the Oslo accords. In other words, Hamas was fulfilling the functions for which it was originally created: to prevent the creation of a Palestinian State. And in this regard, Hamas and Ariel Sharon, see eye to eye; they are exactly on the same wave length.
