CDC considering mandatory HPV vaccination for all boys 11 and older

(NaturalNews) The panel of experts that advises the CDC regarding vaccines has recommended that all boys 11 years and older get vaccinated with Merck’s controversial Gardisil in order to prevent the spread of the human papillomavirus. Parents all over the nation are up in arms, saying a mandatory vaccine is crossing over into lifestyle choices, because HPV is sexually transmitted, and is not a “walking contagious” disease like mumps and measles.

The absurdity of the whole issue is that without the vaccine, most humans create enough antibodies naturally to defeat papillomavirus within 2 years. Plus, much like the flu shot, it’s only a shot in the dark because it only contains 2 or 3 of a dozen or more strains. For males in the United States, only about 7,000 cases each year are tied to those strains.

(NaturalNews) Since ancient times, ginger has a long tradition of being very effective in alleviating symptoms of gastrointestinal distress. Modern scientific research has revealed that ginger possesses numerous therapeutic properties including antioxidant effects, an ability to inhibit the formation of inflammatory compounds, and direct anti-inflammatory effects. The result of a new body of research published in the journal Cancer Prevention Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, demonstrates the specific anti-inflammatory action of the spice on the colon. Health-minded individuals will want to include ginger as part of their regular diet or include an organically harvested supplement to dramatically lower inflammatory risk markers for colon cancer.

Omega-3 fats from fish oil and supplements prevent and slow arthritis progression

(NaturalNews) Humans have been consuming omega-3 fats from natural fish, nut and seed sources for countless generations. Our core genetic structure depends on a regular supply of the long chain omega-3 fats EPA and DHA to form cell wall structures and perform millions of metabolic functions that we normally associate with vibrant health. Imbalance of omega-3 to omega-6 fats cause a surge in inflammatory cytokines that can lead to the painful and debilitating condition known as osteoarthritis. New research published in the journal Osteoarthritis and Cartilage has shown for the first time that omega-3 fats supplied by fish oil could “substantially and significantly” reduce the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis as we age.

Iron supplements cause more harm than good

Elizabeth Walling
Natural News
October 31, 2011

(NaturalNews) For the last several decades, iron supplements have been routinely handed out like candy. Because iron is a basic requirement for cell growth and longevity, it is often assumed that people should supplement with extra iron. However, this faulty belief may carry serious health risks.

High Iron Linked to Heart Attack Risk and More

In one Finnish study of more than 2,000 individuals, researchers found that stored iron was more strongly linked to heart attack risk than either high blood pressure or high cholesterol. It is believed that women who menstruate regularly are less likely to experience heart attacks because iron levels are reduced by the loss of blood each month. The same line of logic explains why men who donate blood regularly also

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are spearheading an aggressive public education campaign reminding Americans not to panic when they lose television and radio service for a few minutes on Wednesday during a test of the Emergency Alert System.

Although the public alert mechanism is decades old and often tested and used at the local level, it has never before been tested on a nationwide scale.

This first-ever test will occur at 2:00pm EST on Wednesday, November 9 and will occur simultaneously across the U.S. and its territories, lasting up to three-and-a-half-minutes.

Evacuation order issued with ‘epic’ 100-mph storm expected to hit Alaska

MSNBC
November 9, 2011

‘This will be an extremely dangerous and life-threatening storm,’ National Weather Service says

An “epic” storm is bearing down on western Alaska, the National Weather Service said, warning that it could be one of the worst on record for the state.

The city of Nome, one of the largest in western Alaska with 3,600 residents, issued an evacuation order late Tuesday with the storm, moving inland from the Aleutian Islands, expected to bring hurricane-force winds with gusts up to 100 miles per hour.

Heavy snowfall, widespread coastal flooding and severe erosion is also expected along most of Alaska’s west coast, the National Weather Service said.

The storm caused a dramatic rise in sea levels, an upsurge of more than 3 feet, National Weather Service meteorologist Stephen Kearney in Fairbanks said.

Officials have said the water is expected to rise another 7 feet overnight. Reports of heavy flooding are expected Wednesday morning, Kearney said.

U.N. Hires Grad Students To Author Key Climate Report

Perry Chiaramonte
Fox News
November 2, 2011

A scathing new expose on the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change — which sets the world’s agenda when it comes to the current state of the climate — claims that its reports have often been written by graduate students with little or no experience in their field of study and whose efforts normally might be barely enough to satisfy grad school requirements.

Grad students often co-author scientific papers to help with the laborious task of writing. Such papers are rarely the cornerstone for trillions of dollars worth of government climate funding, however — nor do they win Nobel Peace prizes.

“We’ve been told for the past two decades that ‘the Climate Bible’ was written by the world’s foremost experts,” Canadian journalist Donna Laframboise told FoxNews.com. “But the fact is, you are just not qualified without a doctorate. In academia you aren’t even on the radar at that point.”
