Obama Declares War On ‘Extremism’ – Are You An ‘Extremist’ According To His Definition?

Do you know what an “extremist” is? In the wake of the horrible terror attacks on the offices of Charlie Hebdo in France, Barack Obama is speaking very boldly about the need to win the war against “extremists”, and he has announced plans to host a major global summit on “extremism” next month. And on the surface that sounds great. But precisely how are we supposed to determine whether someone is an “extremist” or not? What criteria should we use?
As you will see below, your definition of an “extremist” may be far, far different from the definition that Barack Obama is using. When you do a Google search, you will find that an “extremist” is defined as “a person who holds extreme or fanatical political or religious views, especially one who resorts to or advocates extreme action.” According to Wikipedia, “extremism” is “an ideology (particularly in politics or religion), considered to be far outside the mainstream attitudes of a society or to violate common moral standards. Extremism can take many forms, including political, religious and economic.”
Please notice that neither of those definitions uses the word violence. In this day and age, you can be considered an “extremist” simply based on what you believe, and as you will see later in this article there are now tens of millions of Americans that are considered to be “extremists” and “potential terrorists” according to official U.S. government documents.
When you use the word “extremist”, you may have in your mind a picture of ISIS fighters or the terrorists from the Charlie Hebdo massacre.
But for elitists such as Barack Obama, the word “extremist” has a much broader meaning. In recent years, it has become a code word for those who do not have an “enlightened” view of the world. If your views on politics, religion or social issues are extremely different from the liberal, progressive views of “the mainstream” (as defined by the mainstream media and by “mainstream” politicians such as Barack Obama), then they consider you to be an extremist.

PODCAST — Red Ice Radio – Arthur Topham – Hour 1 – “Hate Propaganda” Legislation in Canada
Red Ice Radio
Nov 12, 2014
Canadian born Arthur Topham has a background in Political Science and Education. Since 1999 he has been the Writer, Journalist, Publisher & Editor of RadicalPress.com. Due to the fact that the website has been sabotaged on a number of occasions over the years the information on it only goes back to June of 2006. Arthur will talk about the pressures of Jewish lobbyists in Canada to remove his site, specifically B’nai Brith Canada. Its materials posted sparked two attacks from the lobbyists, the first occurring in 2007 when he was charged with a sec. 13(1) “hate crime” under the legislation contained in Canada’s Human Rights Code. The second attack occurred in 2012 when he was charged under the Canadian Criminal Code, sec. 319(2) “Hate Propaganda” legislation with “willfully promoting hatred against an identifiable group, people of the Jewish religion or ethnic origin.” He’ll talk about these charges, his arrest and the upcoming trial before the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Arthur discusses the history of such “hate propaganda” laws in Canada and how they came about. He’ll also talk about the former sec. 13 legislation which was used by the lobby groups for decades to stifle criticism of Israel and discussion concerning anything related to Zionism both on and off the internet. In the second hour, we’ll speak more about forced Zionist agendas in Europe, replacement level migration in the west, anti-Europhobia and why people, wherever they are on the political spectrum, should be concerned that freedom of speech and freedom of the press is threatened in Canada.

Just three years ago, we found out that children in Britain as young as three could be “blacklisted” — labeled “racist” on their permanent file for such evil thought crimes as calling a fellow classmate a “broccoli head.”
Now according to a new government directive from UK’s Home Office, teachers including nursery school staff have been handed a serious “duty” to “prevent people being drawn into terrorism.”
This will include making sure school staff are trained to watch their students closely in order to “identify children at risk of being drawn into terrorism and challenge extremist ideas which can be used to legitimise terrorism and are shared by terrorist groups,” The Telegraph reported yesterday. Did I mention this includes nursery schools? I did?
You know…with all those toddlers running around sporting all those terrorist-sympathizing, extremist ideals…
Mass surveillance breeds self-censorship in democracies – report
End the Lie
[Jan 5, 2015]

Reuters / Jason Reed
A study published by a top US literary organization on Monday, found that an increasing number of writers in democratic countries are censoring themselves due to fears about government surveillance.
The study entitled “Global chilling: The impact of Mass Surveillance on International Writers” surveyed 772 writers in 50 countries and concluded that writers and journalists are self-censoring for fear of reprisal.
A similar report published in November 2013 found that writers were “worried about mass surveillance, and were engaged in multiple forms of self-censorship as a result.”
A full report from writers around the world will be issued in the spring of 2015. As writers are considered to be the “canaries in the coalmine” therefore they are likely to give an accurate picture of the impact of surveillance on privacy and freedom of expression.
Writers living in democratic countries were found to be nearly as concerned as those living in non-democratic states with long histories of mass surveillance.
It found that while 61 percent of writers living in the countries labeled as ‘Not Free’ by Freedom House avoided writing or speaking about a certain topic because of government surveillance this was now true of 34 percent of writers in ‘Free’ countries.
