For decades now, we have been told to be afraid of the long-term effects of man-made carbon dioxide on our climate. Seemingly every day some new storm, drought, warm spell or cold snap is featured on the news, with government-funded scientists warning us that this is a sign of things to come unless the world reduces its CO2 production.
The problem, of course, is that this is a third-rate scientific hoax propagated on the strength of the public’s ignorance of the underlying science, or lack thereof. The models and predictions used to scare the public into believing that CO2 is driving climate and will continue to do so in an increasingly dangerous fashion share the distinction of being universally wrong in their predictions of trends over the past 15 years, yet we are still asked to believe in the long-term validity of these same falsified models.
As Robinson et. al. noted in their 2007 study, “Environmental Effects of Increased Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide,” published by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, “Predictions of harmful climatic effects due to future increases in hydrocarbon use and minor greenhouse gases like CO2 do not conform to current experimental knowledge.”
Also in 2007, J. Scott Armstrong, a researcher at the University of Pennsylvania and the author of “Long-Range Forecasting,” a standard textbook on the principles of forecasting, co-authored an audit of the procedures that the IPCC used for its global warming projections, finding that those procedures violated 72 of the 89 relevant principles of scientific forecasting.

Bitcoin evangelist Andreas M Antonopoulos has appeared before the Australian Senate as part of an inquiry into the local treatment of digital currencies.
The prominent bitcoin ‘guru’ made the case for bitcoin, saying that its unique architecture and payment mechanism had important implications for network access, innovation, privacy, individual empowerment, consumer protection and regulation.
Claiming that bitcoin represented a “unique opportunity in two areas for Australia”, Antonopoulos said:
“Bitcoin can introduce much needed competition in the retail payments industry, undercutting the expensive systems offered by credit and debit cards, whilst significantly improving security and privacy for consumers.”
“Secondly, the bitcoin industry can establish Australia at the forefront of the next wave of innovation of financial services. A wave that can extend financial services to more than two billion people throughout Southeast Asia, who are currently unbanked,” he continued.

If you’ve ever called your congressman or protested at some capitol building, maybe you need to take a moment to know your enemy.

The visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu caused a boycott by more than 50 House Democrats and protests from the Jewish community. While speaking at the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in D.C., Netanyhahu was faced with protests from a few dozen rabbis who oppose the state of Israel, as well as protesters with CodePink rallying outside the Cannon House Office Building. The CodePink protesters entered the House buildings and confronted members of Congress for their support of Netanyahu’s plan to halt nuclear talks between the US and Iran. Netanyahu also spoke to Congress directly asking those in attendance to abandon the talks with Iran, calling it a “very bad deal”.

The US Capitol Police turned down Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton’s last-ditch request yesterday for a temporary lift of the ban on sledding down the West Front of the Capitol. But, it turns out, little kids don’t care what the lawman says.
Several dozen children and their parents ascended to the top of the hill Thursday for an afternoon of protest sledding. With them were several dozen reporters, clearly looking for a piece of the only story that combines snow, winter sports, and protesting Congress’s Scrooge-like dominance of Washington.
“My mom was [scared],” of being chased off or arrested by Capitol Police, one 7-year-old said after her toboggan finished one of the day’s first illegal rides. “I don’t care.”
While some of ther sledders’ parents were greeted by a Capitol groundskeeper and officers distributing fliers printed with the no-sledding rule, officials did not really bother any of the sledders.
“My daughter is 9 and loves to sled,” said Jason Petty, a Capitol Hill resident who added that he did not believe the Capitol Police’s occasional invocation of the sledding ban as a matter of national security. “I don’t buy it. Some people want to stay inside; let them stay inside.”
