Ontario Tories Seek To Create Cashless Welfare/Disability System

The debate surrounding the Ontario Welfare system, and more specifically what the recipients are doing with the money they receive. Has been highly publicized over the years. With many politicians offering tinker box solutions, that do not seem to solve any problems there might be.

One of the main concerns of tax payers and politicians alike has been that Ontario works recipients are spending the monies on alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, etc. Instead of essential needs. Who wants to be paying for other peoples vices right?

Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC’s announced a plan to overhaul the welfare system on Thursday morning.

Highlights of the 12 “paths to prosperity” outlined in the 22-page Tory “white paper” introduced Thursday include:

rolling Ontario Works and the Ontario Disability Support Program into one agency with streamlined rules

submitting all social programs to “value-for-money” audits

opening up social program delivery to non-profit agencies, charities or the private sector

a requirement for individualized employment plans that detail the monthly activities required to qualify for income support

steadily declining benefits, to discourage long-term reliance on welfare cheques

the implementation of a “benefits-directed debit smart card system” to ensure benefits are spent on essential food items rather than other expenses.

The last highlight of their “paths to prosperity” is to issue a “smart” debit card to recipients. Makes sense right? Blocking the ability for them to purchase any of the unwanted items.

But sadly like most idea’s that seem to make sense. It is only a first stage. Using a government issued “smart” card would mean that government agents (employees) will be able to track and access all records for everything that these people buy. There are many books and documentary’s out there, that spell out how this type of control can go wrong.

Envision a future where every purchase you make is stored in a database. Later in life you develop a disease, for this I will use the example of diabetes. Doctors will be able to look into your history and conclude that you treatment should cost X amount of dollars more, because you purchased chocolate ice cream on a regular basis.

And as most totalitarian laws/regulations. The low income, impoverished people will be affected first.

This type of totalitarianism in not needed. The human race is a innovative beautiful thing! We can adapt, problem solve, and figure out some of the most difficult questions in life. It is time to use that, in fixing these everyday problems rather than turning to big daddy government to do it for us!

Four States Advance Legislation to Block NDAA Indefinite Detention

BOWLING GREEN – In a stunning move last week, four states, Indiana, Colorado, Montana and Arizona, successfully advanced anti-NDAA legislation. The goal for each bill is to protect the people of that state from indefinite detention under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012.

The 2012 NDAA applies broad detention power, using terms such as “associated forces” and “substantially supported” to U.S. soil, allowing the federal government to detain and even execute any person, including an American citizen, on U.S. soil. There has not been such backlash against a federal law since Congress attempted to enforce a mandatory national speed limit, as over 21 states have introduced legislation to counter the law.

In Indiana, S.B. 400 passed through the State Senate by a vote of 31 – 17. Next, it will be assigned to a committee in the State House, where the battle will begin anew. It will then need to be given a committee hearing, pass the hearing and then be voted on by the full State House floor. The last step, if it passes those hurdles, would be for Governor Mike Pence to sign it into law.

On, Thursday, three similar pieces of legislation passed through House Committees in Arizona, Montana and Colorado.

Arizona’s bill, H.B. 2573, passed the House Judiciary Committee 6 – 2. The bill has two sponsors and seven co-sponsors in the House, and supporters are hopeful it will pass.

In Montana, H.B. 522 passed its House Judiciary Committee hearing overwhelmingly by a unanimous vote of 20 – 0.

In Colorado, HB 1045 passed committee by a decisive vote of 7-4.

Arizona, Montana and Colorado’s bills will now be voted on by their respective State House floors. If they successfully pass, the next steps will be the same as Indiana’s.

As more states advance Anti-NDAA legislation, move toward liberty, and stand up to defend the Constitution, the question you must ask yourself is…

Will your state be next?

Researchers Link MSG to Weight Gain, Obesity

by Elizabeth Renter

February 24, 2013

Monosodium glutamate is a food additive used in many foods to enhance taste, but this additive is also toxic. Known as an excitotoxin – which ‘excites’ the cells of the body into overproducing a particular chemical, thus burning them out prematurely – MSG is thrown in everything from Ramen noodles to potato chips, all to “enhance” the flavors in these quasi-foods. But while MSG is said to improve taste, it has many—more sinister—effects. Many people know that MSG can sometimes be blamed for headaches and possibly even ADHD, but the link to obesity often goes unrecognized.

From animal research to studies in humans, scientists have consistently demonstrated that there is a link between the consumption of MSG and obesity.

In Spain, researchers found that rats who eat MSG experience an increase in appetite of 40%. This is dramatic. And because the food’s flavors are enhanced, there’s a good chance that humans are eating more of them too.

But more than just tasting good, some scientists have suggested that MSG actually interferes with leptin, responsible for controlling our appetites. One study showed that those people who eat the most MSG also have the most leptin, perhaps creating an environment of leptin resistance, or one where the appetite becomes more or less uncontrollable.

Interestingly, MSG could be causing obesity even without increased food consumption. The link between MSG and weight gain or obesity holds true even when excess calories are accounted for.

In the United States, it’s estimated that the average person consumes about a half a gram of MSG daily, and for many sensitive people, this is enough to trigger a migraine. But, it’s minimal when compared with the amount consumed in some Asian countries. It’s estimated in countries like Japan that MSG consumption is anywhere from 1.5 to 10 grams per day.

Studies in these countries have found a similar link between MSG and obesity. The reason we don’t see Asian countries with obesity rates comparable to ours, scientists surmise, is because they are more active and have a (generally) better diet.

Sicne producers aren’t always transparent with MSG’s inclusion in food products (shocker, I know), it may be tricky to reduce MSG consumption. Check the ingredients for inclusions like: glutamate, glutamic acid, gelatin, calcium caseinate, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, whey protein, textured protein, yeast extract, autolyzed yeast, and more. Better yet, to ensure you aren’t getting MSG, don’t eat processed foods at all.
